I remember reading once, a chap, who I believe was from the far east said "Whenever westerners don't understand something, they call it Zen."
I don't understand anything about Zen but I imagine it to represent something like this. A simple image, yet appealing and thought provoking, and one that makes you want to look further into it than the initial impression is insufficiently able to satisfy.
This was taken whilst sitting in an hide at Minsmere reserve with nothing much happening birdwise. My mind tends to wander, and I look at the mundane in a different light - and this is a result....
I find it more appealing viewed full size - that seems to emphasise the subtle attraction.....
The Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus) is a species in the family Ursidae occurring in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. It is the smallest bear, standing nearly 70 centimetres (28 inches) at the shoulder and weighing 25–65 kilograms (55–143 pounds). It is stockily built, with large paws, strongly curved claws, small rounded ears and a short snout. The fur is generally jet-black, but can vary from grey to red. Sun bears get their name from the characteristic orange to cream coloured chest patch. Its unique morphology—inward-turned front feet, flattened chest, powerful forelimbs with large claws—suggests adaptations for climbing.The generic name Helarctos comes from two Greek words: ήλιος (hēlios, 'related to the sun') and αρκτος (arctos, 'bear'). Another name is 'honey bear' (beruang madu in Malay), in reference to its habit of feeding on honey from honeycombs. 'Honey bear' can also refer to the kinkajou.
Can a person have too many sun set and sun rise shots..;) Anyway, I took this same shot about 2 years ago and since I was in Rockport with time on my hands, I decided to take the same shot again. And, it doesn't look much different..:) Except, this time I had a better ND filter so I didn't get any flares. Other wise, it's the same sun and probably the same boats. When I had my boat I kept it at the Marina thinking If I had it sitting in the water, I would use it more. Not so much. Finally sold it.

It is poppy time again. Some minutes ago, a heavy rain shower was falling down on this field and the photographer as well. Now, the cloud cover has been teared apart and the sun is sending her warm rays to dry everything again.
I wish, I would have been better in capturing the breathtaking view of all these glittering waterdrops around me. But for some moments, a photo is not enough. These, You have to see with Your own eyes.
Es ist mal wieder Mohnblumen Zeit. Über dieses Feld, und auch den Fotografen, ist vor wenigen Minuten ein heftiger Regenschauer nieder gegangen. Nun ist die Wolkendecke aufgerissen und die Sonne schickt ihre wärmenden Strahlen um alles wieder zu trocknen.
Ich wünschte, ich wäre besser in der Lage gewesen, diesen atemberaubenden Anblick der glitzernden Wassertropfen um mich herum festzuhalten. Doch für manche Momente reicht ein Foto eben nicht aus. Die muss man mit eigenen Augen sehen.

The colours in the sky were lovely but witnessing a rare sun pillar, with a shaft of sunlight projecting behind Coquet Island from below the horizon around 15 minutes before sunrise, was very special. An amazing morning to be on the beach with a camera.

This was taken on a drive along the Newlands Valley in the Lake District. For a few brief moments the sun shone on this little tree on the side of a hill. So, out came the camera.
