I hate this word. It carries an excruciating amount of pain for me. I have written so much, but none of it makes sense, so I will leave it as this...

A quick edit from last night's spooky, foggy drive through teh tiny coastal country lanes of North Devon in an attempt to capture the combination of last light and heavy sea mist that had looked most inviting from the study window! The title is from the track playing while taking the hair pin bend on the highest cliff section that crazily does not have a crash barrier!
f/11, 17 mm, 5 second exposure at ISO 200. Timer & manual exposure.
The Suicide Point is located on the road connecting Kalpa with Roghi. The surroundings of this point are so amazing that people are forced to call it as the Suicide Point. The dangerous trench and vertical slopes are the highlights of this place.

"The colors of green in spring are so beyond the colors of green I see at any other time of year. There's a lushness to them that almost overwhelms the senses." - bb
I could not see this particular view from the path I was on. Although it was a delightfully, sunny summer day, the path was a bit shadowy and dark - woody and dense. I could see a clearing visible ahead and as I approached it the light got brighter and shafts of sunlight etched their way through branches and leaves.
As I walked up a small rise in the on the path, I was greeted with this.
I stopped for a moment, of course, allowing myself to soak it in. Trees, sky, clouds, water, grasses, birds. I remember noticing the sounds and songs of the birds, so engaged in their evening conversations. I smiled at that.
As I walked down the path towards the edge of the water, I pulled out my camera. It had been in my pocket all the while - kind of at the ready, but I, as the photog and the artist, wasn't.
Sometimes I get mesmerized by things and forget I'm an artist and a photographer. I'm surrendered to the scene with no distinction between me and my surroundings.
I was touched by this particular view this day. I've seen it before - many times - but each time, in each type of light, it always looks a little different. This day I got tears in my eyes; not a lot, just a little. I cry at the silliest things as I get older.
I became deeply aware of being there. This place, at this time.
It was almost an out-of-body feeling, so deeply connected and present to all before me. I shot some images, but didn't move after doing so. I just stood there. I was consciously allowing myself to be...in this place. Feeling each moment, sensation as it came, when it came - holding it - to savoring it.
This takes training, learning and sometimes a bit of unlearning as many of us tend to walk blindly and blithely through the world.
Some moments will stay with you forever. Some will come and go over time; their arrival unannounced, their departure never noticed - obeying commands only they can hear. Others will go the way of all moments and time.

Scene from the North Park Village Nature Center - A Moment in Summer By the Pond. A hand-held Panorama. If the Nature Center did not exist, those of us who cherish secret green spaces, would have had to create it in our minds.

Suicide.
Is a growing issue everyday.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death amongst youth
Teen suicide rates have tripled since 1970
90% of suicidal teens believed that no one understood them
&& the sad thing is, the actual number of suicide is two to three times higher than indicated .
Think again, be careful with what you say . Because it takes a single person for her to swallow those pills.
On another note....
MY BEST FRIEND GOT ME PRO FOR MY BIRTHDAY! I'm soo happy =D
I know this picture may not be perfect, but it has meaning to me.
We called these knobs "suicide knobs" back in the day. They clamped on the steering wheel and made it easy to steer cars and trucks before the days of power steering, but made them difficult to control in emergencies. That is how they got their name, but they had lots of other names too - Brodie knob, knuckle buster, granny knob, necker's knob, and wheel spinner. This one was in an old Studebaker pickup truck.
