The wildebeest also called the gnu is an antelope in the genus Connochaetes native to Eastern and Southern Africa. It belongs to the family Bovidae, which includes antelopes, cattle, goats, sheep, and other even-toed horned ungulates.
Connochaetes includes two species, both native to Africa: the black wildebeest or white-tailed gnu (C. gnou), and the blue wildebeest or brindled gnu (C. taurinus).
In East Africa, the blue wildebeest is the most abundant big-game species; some populations perform an annual migration to new grazing grounds, but the black wildebeest is merely nomadic. Breeding in both takes place over a short period of time at the end of the rainy season and the calves are soon active and are able to move with the herd, a fact necessary for their survival. Nevertheless, some fall prey to large carnivores, especially the spotted hyena.
Wildebeest often graze in mixed herds with zebra, which gives heightened awareness of potential predators. They are also alert to the warning signals emitted by other animals such as baboons.
Some illegal hunting goes on but the population trend is fairly stable and some populations are in national parks or on private land. The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists both as least-concern species. – Wikipedia

Suances a su vez es la capital del municipio. La localidad de Suances está ubicada a 98 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Se encuentra en la desembocadura del río Saja, siendo la ría de San Martín de la Arena o ría de Suances la divisoria entre los municipios de Suances y Miengo. El caserío se divide entre la parte alta y la parte de la playa, dónde está el puerto pesquero y también las playas. Al otro lado de una pequeña península (punta del Dichoso) quedan la playa de los Locos y la ensenada de la Tablía.

La ría de San Martín de la Arena o ría de Suances, también llamada antiguamente ría de Requejada, es un estuario situado en la costa central de Cantabria (España), entre los municipios de Suances y Miengo, siendo la desembocadura de los cursos unidos de los ríosSaja y Besaya. Tiene una superficie de 389 hectáreas y un perímetro de 33,7 kilómetros, con una superficie intermareal del 75%. A lo largo de toda la ría los suelos predominantes son los fangos, seguidos de los arenosos. La boca de la ría la delimitan la Punta del Toro y la Punta de Afuera.

i took this photograph of the laburnham at belsay castle northumberland , some years ago,it was like walking through a tunnel of yellow flower,s.so pretty.happy birthday sue and wishing you a happy cheerful day.many birthday hug,s.the little beagle who happens to be there at the bottom of the page/path, is wesley,a beagle i rehomed and he lived with us for many year,s.although he did not like cuddle,s!only on his terms.
Sue was actually photographing through the fence to beyond.

This was impromptu photo after our pre-determined photos here. I shot for 2 seconds as Sue slowly twirled her rainbow umbrella. She don't quite manage to keep her head still however. 😎

Union Pacific's SUE (Southern Unit East) iron ore train departs Provo, Utah for Geneva Steel on April 3, 1977. The all EMD power consist includes SD40-2 'snoot' No. 3364, a GP30B, a GP30, a DD35, and an SD45.
Sue's sister, Heather, suddenly lost her five-year-old daughter 29 years ago. Heather, who lives in Toronto, decided to see if she could find birds to feed as a quiet way to reflect and experience some joy on this day. She has a spot where the birds are quite habituated and will come to the hand to feed. Alas, it was a brutally windy day in Toronto, and the birds were hunkering down.
Meanwhile, Sue, in a gesture of empathy, spread seeds for the birds in a little woodland nearby to us. Across the miles, the sisters, in some way, shared a time of remembrance.

Five days after our first attempt at Sue's autumn photoshoot (see comments), both the colour and light were better. Unlike the previous attempt, I didn't have to blend leaves from more than one photo because I was happy enough with this one with the falling leaves around her head.
