I don't remember exactly where this was taken. I keep a log of where I start each day, and I started in Sparks Nevada and ended the day in Ontario California. So I'm pretty sure this is off US-395 somewhere near the Nevada-California stateline. Over the years I'm sure I've driven this route more than a dozen times. This was back in July 2012.

Suances se extiende en torno a la unión de los ríos Saja y Besaya, que forman en su desembocadura la ría de Suances, también conocida como San Martín de la Arena. La ría conforma un puerto natural entre acantilados (Punta del Dichoso) en el que muchos historiadores ubican el "Portus Blendium" romano, famoso en épocas pasadas por su armada y gran movimiento comercial, que le convirtieron en la vía de penetración más importante de la costa cantábrica.
En la actualidad es una villa eminentemente turística, desarrollada en torno al conjunto de playas que se agrupan en la Punta del Dichoso. Cabe destacar la playa de Los Locos, idónea par la práctica del surf, y la de Tagle, que invita a contemplar en los largos atardeceres del verano espectaculares puestas de sol.

Sue's sister, Heather, suddenly lost her five-year-old daughter 29 years ago. Heather, who lives in Toronto, decided to see if she could find birds to feed as a quiet way to reflect and experience some joy on this day. She has a spot where the birds are quite habituated and will come to the hand to feed. Alas, it was a brutally windy day in Toronto, and the birds were hunkering down.
Meanwhile, Sue, in a gesture of empathy, spread seeds for the birds in a little woodland nearby to us. Across the miles, the sisters, in some way, shared a time of remembrance.
