-------------------------------------------------
Inside Jin Mao Skyscraper... on the bottom you can see a restaurant, that's only at 1/3 rd of building total height.
The tripod on the corner is my biggest regret... but you can't imagine my "plastic and acrobatic" pose trying to take this picture (the edge was very high, and covered with a thick glass... against sucidal tendencies I suppose.... so I had to iper stretch me, my hand, my mini tripod and camera above it, and try different blind-shots before taking a good one....)
Jin Mao Tower (Height: 421 m) by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (Construction end: 1998) is in Shanghai (China). It has an observatory (with a floor space of 1,520 square metres) on the 88th floor, at a height of 340,1 metres. It's the largest and highest observation deck in China.

Shadowkat Wrigglesworth points her thumb out towards the back. "Out back with Garret." She figured that would give her an idea of what the two were doing. She looked back towards Alex and then thinks a moment. "What happened this morning? As long as you didn't get caught on tape, you're fine."
Alexandr Giano gave Kat a questioning look. There was that word tape, jupp. He stretched his arms, "I don't know. There was some female neko who kept on calling me an ape. She was hungry or something I think. I tried to get her something from the sushi stand? But she wasn't interested." He frowned, "I think she wanted to eat me or something. She tried to take a swipe at me, but I just moved behind a lamp post."
[13:47] Sapphira Laval bit her lower lip lightly. Giving a soft nod. "No idea who Garret is but ookay." She raised a brow, -caught on tape?- hmmmed a little. "Kind of needed her." She ducked under the tape and made herself comfortable.
Marina Storaro came around the east side of the boardwalk tapping something at her left thigh. *Thwap. Thwap*.
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth rolls her eyes hearing that, the tiger rarely liked other hybrids as she tapped her fingers upon the vodka bottle that was beside her. "Well, don't worry about it. Any hybrids mess with you, you tell me." She grinned towards him, as the sound of the thwap, thwap, thwap caught her attention. She would look over in the direction of Marina and already that blush of redness began to trail over her cheeks as she tried to debate on if she should run and hide. "..Hey..Ma..." She tried to hide that squeeking noise in her voice. Atlease the tiger cleaned the desk off.
Alexandr Giano looked over his right shoulder. Miss Storaro! COOOOOL. He looked around. No side of that loser Garrett. He smiled. He was ALWAYS slumming here. Didn't he have like a job or something? One Alex. Three women. Uh huh. He sat up a little just now.
Marina Storaro held up a rectangular black object. Ho ho. The 'tape'. And wiggled it in the air while Kat squeaked. "Hey hey Kitty kat. You wanted this back yes?" Her teeth flashed white with her grin, and it warmed to Saph, and settled a moment on Alex when he smiled and sat up straighter.
Sapphira Laval drummed her fingers on the table, looking up at the noise, smile widened. "Kat, aren't -you- a hybrid of sorts?" She couldn't help it. "Hey Marina." Eyes glancing over each person. Wasn't this cozy.
Alexandr Giano could tell the conversation was going to turn into ADULT talk soon. He nodded to what Kat said, then squeezed in, "Jupp. She had green eyes? Kind of yellow-green. Something like that." He looked down at his bag, thinking maybe listening to some music might be cool.
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth narrows her eyes being called kitty kat, and then looked over towards Sa and shrugs her shoulders. "...Got ears and a tail but I don't act like the others in town....I'm a special kinda of tiger." She spoke before looking to noticed the tape and slowly leaned up to take it. "I...it wasn't my fault...honest." She was -partly- lying but not completely. "And...and I cleaned it..." She pouted a little bit.
Alexandr Giano: Jupp. More tapes. He saw how Kat changed her tone. He dug out his headphones and put those on. Rawkin' music, jupp! And, it meant he could hang here longer too.
Marina Storaro: "You -are- special.." she agreed lowly, gloved fingers still holding the tape. A little jerk kept it just out of Kat's reach for a moment more, though if Kat reached again she let her have it. "And you know I have a copy. But it was a late night. So I haven't watched it yet."
Sapphira Laval was faster hopefully, and nosy too. If Kat wasn't hanging on tight Sa would snatch the tape and just look at the outside. "S'this?" She drummed her other fingers against the table. Even if she didn't have it in her hands, she'd still inquire. "Oh Kat, what /did/ you do?"
Alexandr Giano stole some discreet looks in the meantime. He looked between Sapphira and Kat. Hm. Which one's ta-ta's were bigger? Because, Sapphira was a bit taller, but Kat was... well, she was PERKY. Hm. He looked at Miss Storaro. No contest. The kid shifted on the barrel watching as they all pointed and gestured over that tape like it had some COOOL rock star singer they were all ga-ga over on it. GIRLS. Why were they like that. He scratched at his cap, jupp!
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth eyes widen at the words from Marina. "Y-you...have a copy..." Her ears lowered as her mouth dropped in shock. Marina was going to watch the copy, and then that meant that she'd know what happened and that meant that in the tigers head that no one knew the full details but right now she did. "B-but...that's not imporant it's a bad copy...I mean I could give you -another- copy with something better." Anyone except for Bernard, that was like worst then being married to Forge. Atlease Forge she understood. "And...and...You Can't show Chi, he'll throwm e in a wall well he's already going to but he doesn't know about the thing that Bernard did." She was speaking quickly and in that squeeky voice, almost sounding like a mouse hybrid instead of a tiger.
Sapphira Laval tugged the tape. Probably from marina now that Kat was hiding something out in the open. "I've got a player at the house." She grinned and looked to Kat, "And popcorn." Glancing over to Alex as he plucked his headphones out of the bag. The kid was smart. But was it even on? Half the time she passed him the music levels were so high you could hear it streaming out of the sides. "And vodka."
Marina Storaro's eyes widened a bit listening to Kat. Not out of surprise it was clear, but that mutual opening when someone starts imploring and pleading, and you're just listening to them stumble over the details as the hole gets bigger. Her chin nodded a bit around too, then eyebrows danced inward and she shook out a light chuckle. It was warm. "I won't show it to Chi then. As if Chi needs more porn? Mmm.. no." She never /said/ if she would watch it or not, but it was amusing to watch Kat squiggle. "So." She plopped down wherever her a/o and poseballs would allow, thumbs worked the belt around her hips until comfortable, and she shied away a few loose strands of hair. "Aside from popcorn and vodka-induced movies, what have you been up to? Chi and Pera have anything planned?"
Alexandr Giano's absinthe settled on Kat again. Whoa. He looked between her and Marina. Oh, the music was quite high. Anyone with sensitive ears might pick up the occasional words, "fucking" and "whore" and "sleep" depending on if the singer was howling those out.
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth looks over towards Sap as she took the tape from her fingertips, the tiger was to busy trying to stop her rambling but it wasn't working. "And I honestly didn't enjoy it, it was just...you know....And did you know girls have a say in what happens during sex!?" Yes, that was something the tiger learned from Bernard, Even tho she still didn't understand what he meant by special ways. "I mean...what does he mean by special way, that could be anything...I'm use to you know, well you know...Strozzi and Forge....they just ya know." She always said ya know when she was confused or rambling. She looks over towards Sap and finally tried to take the tape back. Her face was completely red, down to her neck except for where the bruises were.
Sapphira Laval was busy inspecting it. As if staring at it would make a hologram appear Star Wars style. She had a fair hold on it but let it go when Kat tugged. "Well there goes my plans for the night. Now I'll have to go to work." She narrowed her eyes on Alex for a moment. "Kid here. Kid. . but yeah, uhm, always have a 'choice' Kat."
Alexandr Giano smiled a little. He had not seen Kat turn that color before. It was kind of cool, even though he did not know what they were talking about. Really. Probably just sex, or something. WHATEVER. He looked toward the tunnel for a bit.
Marina Storaro's face had tilted somewhat. Oh, she was catching what this boy was listening to. Her throat rolled out a hum and blinked up to Kat. Shoulders lifted back. "Why don't you /ask/ him what he means by special way?... and so. Yeah. What are you guys up to?" She said again, in the change of tone that warned Kat might delve into other more moist and detailed ideas.
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth shrugs her shoulders. "Cause...he's...ya know and always acting like he's better then me when it comes to being smart and stuff." She stated honestly. "Like, he's going to beat me at the game, but I told him I was smarter then his solider boys and they most likely know stuff..."
Sapphira Laval ran her tongue across her lips, wetting the chapped skin, "Depends on what game we're playing." Blue eyes danced up to Marina for a moment, "Not scrabble I take it?"
Alexandr Giano pushed off the barrel. He barely gave the three a quick wave and smile before he shoved his hands in his pockets and strolled off.
Marina Storaro watched Kat, thoughts embroiled behind her eyes. At Saph's comment she gave out a loud snort. "Cata was sooo not looking for Scrabble." She leaned forward and worked her hips in her seat, then a long roll of her neck stretched out the tension. "Kat though - you sound like you like him. Is he an asshole or not? Or you like the asshole."
Sapphira Laval murmured something about, "I realize that /now/" Standing as Alex left and making herself more comfortable. On the ground. Yep, good ol' midian comfort.
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth shakes her head towards Sa. "I don;t know the game anymore, he changed it." She grumbled a moment as she started to pull upon her gloves, and then slowly looked towards Marina. "I don't like him!!!" She exclaimed almost like a child. "He's the most annoying person I met, and he's drives me insane and granted he is okay, and I would like him but I don't like UAC...and that's what he is, he's like a prime example of them!"
Marina Storaro just shot up her eyebrows and pointed out blunt. "Uh. Honey? Usually we don't fuck the most annoying people we've met."
Sapphira Laval: "That's like saying you like a flower but not the whole garden. So uproot it, take it home. Just the one you like. It'll either die and then you go get a new one, or it'll flourish." Was she on crack?! Close enough. Giving a twitch of her fingers. Brushing them against her nose lightly. "You know what I mean?"
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth just moved back as she thinks, she lifted that vodka bottle up to her lips as she took another long, long, long sip. "Okay! Maybe I like -a little-, it's not love, it's not some emotional Oh my god butterflys in my stomach it's...I don't know." She was trying to sort all this out in her head. "But he's UAC and I'm...." She eyed Marina. "A neko..." But the way she said that, Marina would know what he said. She blinks towards Sap as she just studied her like she lost her damn mind. "Bernard aint no flower, I don't even think he has a full heart...he's like the grinch!"
You: what she meant*
Sapphira Laval: "Grinch's don't ask about special ways." She shrugged and looked past the two into the pool hall. And then around a bit. "Either of you seen Jake around lately?"
Marina Storaro was watching Saph when she prodded at her nose, and something fumbled around in her brain, finding feet. A completely inaudible 'hmmf' then in her mind. But her attention quickly shot back to the conversation, tilting look to Kat's look of significance. "It's the classic Romeo and Juliet. The Jets and the Sharks. When he says mean shit, ignore his fucking ass until he learns. Like a dog." She scratched down her neck and looked to Saph. ".. Jake? Jake the guy who 'gets stuff'?"
Sapphira Laval: "Or roll up a newspaper and beat him. Tha tworks too. But not so much on flower gardens." She shrugged again, nodding to Marina, "I've heard he can. Yeah."
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth just blinks a moment. "The jets and sharks? But I'm not in the jets or the sharks..." She didn't understand what Ma meant as she played that in her head. "And isn't the jets a football team? I don't remember playing football."
Marina Storaro: "The jets and the sharks were the names of fictitious gangs in a very old play.. called West Side Story. Kind of a modern Romeo and Juliet. Jets were the preppy boys, Sharks were the ones from the 'other' side. Puerto Rican maybe?"
Sapphira Laval rolled her eyes over a few times, flipping through memories, "Haven't read that ancient text in . . ever."
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth tilts her head to the side. "What happened to them in the end?" She asked curiously as if Marina would know exactly what happened. "And Didn't Romeo and Juliet die? That can't be good...but Bernard and I agreed that we'd kill one of the other, ether me killing him or vica versa.." She released a huff, and wasn't exactly sure if she liked being compaired to a sucidal couple.
Sapphira Laval sighed a little, eyes still darting around. Searching now. "Can't find Luk, Jake's not around. . . "
Marina Storaro: "Well." Her arms stretched forward, bending each leg to tug at her long, tight boots. Vinyl and leather pulling over her muscles. "It was a tragedy, and modeled after Romeo and Juliet. So it didn't end well, though not exactly the same. Not suicidal. But there was a misunderstanding and an accidental murder.. so.. ~"
Marina Storaro glanced down to Sa as she wandered over the film details and watched her. "... Sa?"
Sapphira Laval: "Hmm?" She wasn't really paying attention to the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Kat and Bernard interested her, but she'd rather just slay open any UAC member . . than fuck em.
Allissa Coswell stops and gives a half hearted wave to the three ladies before heading off somewhere. She didn't smile as it was something she did less and less of everyday. Her eyes looked away quickly before she was off around the corner
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth sighs softly as she closes her eyes a little bit. "It's stupid anyways..." She shook her head and put on that face where it was hard to tell what the tiger was thinking. "So, I had this idea for the gym..." This was the way she was changing the subject and hopefully getting her mind off of her situation. She waved back to Evie as she rested her hand upon the palm of her chin.
Marina Storaro was casting an odd look down to Sa, something intent still burbling in her mind. She did catch Allissa making her way around, and read her tone and movement like a quick book. Furrrowed her brow, but waved in return before she was gone.
Marina Storaro leaned down, close enough to where her breath raced down Saph's neck, and the back of her hand pressed to the woman's forehead. "What's the idea.." she asked Kat, though focused on Saph.
Sapphira Laval 's attention snapped back into reality for a moment, "Gym, hey. . met a guy there last night. Sort of. Looked a little more interested in his biceps than he was me. But he wasn't bad. Maybe I'll frequent it more often now." She grinned a bit. Fingers reaching out to pluck a little stone up and then roll it between fingers.
Sapphira Laval: Cold and fevered at the same time. She leaned away from Marina's hand, "Th'hell?" She was sitting still and hadn't been working out, so the sweat was light, could have been from the mist of teh ocean. Could have.
Marina Storaro: "Th'hell?" she repeated, maternally firm tone. "You're 'sick'." She didn't so much say it in quotes, but Saph knew she suspected /something/. But. Said not a word, and wouldn't, not there. She squeezed Sa's shoulder before leaning back. "That guy that was pulling weight while I worked with Stephan? Yeah hmm. He didn't want to play Scrabble."
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth thinks a moment. "Well...what if different groups fight one another? Then start an umm..." She tried to think of the word. "You know that thing where everyone fights, but the last group is the champians..." She blinked as she looked over towards Sa and then chewed on her lower lip. "What guy?"
Sapphira Laval flicked the little pebble with as much force allowed from her fingertips. Swalloed and ears turned fire red. Not commenting on the sick comment at all. "Dunno his name, and you mean a champion match. Pretty sure that's all it's called." A voice in her head screamed to get up and go. She wiggled and debated against her own body. "I don't always want to play Scrabble either, Marina." Scrunching her nose forcing a playful smile. "I just don't want to run around catching diseases either." Wiggle adjust, and then she stood, brushing her legs off and butt.
Marina Storaro: "... Yeah." Her eyes dragged up to Sa watching her wiggle, and peering at her tone and forced expression. "I didn't mean to imply either," she said not unkindly. And just kind of stopped there, as she was flummoxed as to what was going on.
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth nods her head as she chews on her lower lip. The tiger seemed to be drifting into other conversations, and memories as she just went back to playing with her gloves. She was thinking about what Marina said, and then what Cait said, and then Evie as she rubbed her forehead.
Sapphira Laval shoved her hands deep into her pockets, while thoughts roamed her mind, she glanced down to Marina and nodded, "I know. Just thinking out loud. Still need to find Luk for a phone. And well, " A shaky hand pulled out of her pocket to rub the back of her neck roughly, reddening marks appearing almost instantly. She was dehydrated. "We should get together." The rainchecks never ceased now that she would be avoiding Marina for a bit.
Marina Storaro looked at her worriedly. ".. Who.. you and Luk? Or us?"
Sapphira Laval looked away from the two, and then back, "Both. But not together." Even her lips were beginning to shake slightly. She'd been stretching herself thin. And her /friend/. "Luke for a phone, and you for. .. you"
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth tilts her head. "Hows his eye?" She suddenly asked as she as remembered what Chi did to him. Her fingers moving in small circles along her hip, although if anyone noticed it seemed as if she was tracing something that wasn't there. "How do you get rid of..." She looked around to make sure that none of the pirates were around. "A wound?"
Marina Storaro held up her hands innocent. "The three of us never together. Got it." Hokay, she wasn't gonna ask about that one. "Never the twain shall meet. If you need a phone, I can find you one through the Park people, just ask if you need something." She blinked to Kat, not understanding.
Sapphira Laval couldn't help but laugh at that. Flashes of images. Marina naked again, and this time she brought company, or did he bring her. Blink. Blink. Shake of a head. Nope, still there, he wandered through the door with a brew in hand, Marina took it and slid it between her breasts before placing it to her lips and then both of them in that dreamy state beckoning Sa to join. . blink. "Oh uhm, hmm. Nanites. Yeah. Those work." She was going to leave. Go find what she needed. But still, her maternal instincts were to help.
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth blinks a moment. "You can grab one of my extra phones..." She pointed over to the crate that she kept all her stuff in. "I have like four or five that aren't turned on..." She moved her fingers once more as she tried to decide how to get the mark off of her. "I'm just curious.." She mumbled to herself. She nodded her head, "Oh...Nanites..."
Marina Storaro smirked. "Sure.. nanites with your burgers and fries. Comin' up." She pressed on her thighs to stand, and breasts shook under her top. No beer there, but what a lovely stop on the way to lips.. lips that tasted flesh.. tongue that licked at nipples.. and Oh! Yeah. "... Catch you soon then? I better check in with the kid."
Sapphira Laval shifted and looked back to the crates. "Does everyone carry an extra but me?"
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth shrugs her shoulders. "I lose my phones once a week....Chi made me get a bunch."
Marina Storaro chuckled. "I don't. Park gets shipments every now and then - can always talk to the Managers if you need." She kind of raised a brow to the crates, not asking how that was .. possible. "See you too.." she called back over her shoulder.
Sapphira Laval wandered over to the crate and plucked one up that didn't look too bad of shape. Hello kitty stickers werent that bad were they?
Shadowkat Wrigglesworth waves towards Marina. The whole crate wasn't cell phones, inside was three phones, a bag of clothes, some drugs, notebooks and other stuff. The phones were sorta beat up and as if she stole them from people.

London-Edinburgh-London ‘Fixedwheelnut’s’ story
Saturday
I set of in the 8.30am group Saturday morning from Lea Valley youth hostel riding along with Ivo Miesen the crazy dutch guy of five languages fame it was only a few miles before we were shouting to the Italians “right, destra” to bring them back on course, some surprisingly steep hills around Broxbourne soon had me out of the saddle and surrounding people gasping “you mad ba**tard on a fixie!”. The course soon changed to rolling hills and I was away in a rhythm at a good pace and the first control at Gamlingay community centre was soon upon us.
I started to get a routine going early to lower the ‘Faff Factor’ get card stamped write down mileage and reset computer, wash and apply cream, eat drink and away.
On the second stage weather improved and became much warmer but also led to swarms of kamikazie black fly, >:( no sooner had I wiped my arms and face when another cloud of the little bu**ers hit me like a handful of sand, more rolling hills saw small groups forming as riders settled to their own pace to Thurlby Church Primary School, the display of pictures by the schools children was excellent including pics of bikes, peleton, groups and a selection of international flags lets hope they carry their love of cycling into their later years. 8)
The third stage was going well until I went of course for 10km, what are the two golden rules of Audax;
1/ Don’t follow someone else >:(
2/ Never ever forget rule number one >:( >:(
Bu$$er, ar5e, ba115, fuming at my own stupidity I stormed off on the flat roads to Lincoln youth hostel where Rob Bullyment was awaiting to stamp our cards, feeding up here I met up with Paul Welch, Mark Brooking, Lynn Francoli and the Japanese Willsden group we all set off towards Thorne but it wasn’t long before the ‘papyrus map scrolls’ or torn out pages of my atlas came into play to querie the route, luckily this put us back on track and we rode as a group as it got dark to Thorne rugby club, this might not sound like much but after 70km of pan flat long straight boring roads it is like an oasis in a desert, whats more the bar was still open “slight change to routine pint of real ale :P before bar shuts then get card stamped” nearing midnight we all opted for sleep and I grabbed 4 hours kip on the bar floor.

Sunday
Four am I got up really not wanting to but needs must stuffed my face with their finest cereals, toast and pasta meals and set off along more pan flat roads and soon caught up with the Willsden bunch again who set off slightly before me, we were treated to a beautiful sunrise at Howden just south of York but by now the flat roads were revealing their discomfort and riders were all twitching around on their saddles looking forward to a hill to get off them :-X, the Howardian Hills soon obliged and a rolling set of surprisingly steep hills had us climbing up past the Obelisk this is where I began meeting Patrick Field on his ‘Ratcatcher’ recumbent much of the day I spent passing him uphill and he passed me going down, “sometimes”, he suggested I should get some footrests fitted for the downhill sections, "but that would take half the fun out of it" I replied. We were soon at Hovingham for more food and drink.
Stage 6 had us rolling through more and occaisionally steeper hills to Eppleby but as the banter of PBP tales and previous LEL tales transpired the kilometres clicked by unnoticed and via the very picturesque ‘Wooden Bridge’ at Whorlton, we were through and out to Langdon Beck, my nervousness about this stage was unfounded, whilst the climb was long it was a reasonable gradient and I soon found a rythym and flew along passing people on gears, much to their disgust,.
Langdon Beck youth hostel [the highest in England] was a fantastic stop helpers practically fighting to serve you with great wit and banter such that you almost didn’t want to leave “and they did bacon sarnies” my favourite fuel second to jelly babies.
The route sheet said it was 10.9 km to the summit of Yad Moss from here but it actually looked more like 14km before I actually started descending, the climb itself was great fun I felt really good “bacon sarnie you see” and overtook others that had left before me I stopped at the top to take pics of the view and the last Belgian rider [ Toon Tanghe] I had passed as he came up, he kindly stopped and offered to take one of me at the top aswell, when I say the top this was about 11km but as I went round the next corner the road continued upwards before I began the frenzied 12km descent into Alston I had to keep using the brakes to control my cadence to avoid melting my thighs which were feeling much tighter by now, the steep cobbled road down through Alston was very dodgy and I was glad it was dry, I didn’t have to stop at Alston having been to Langdon Beck but popped in for a quick cuppa and bowl of rice pudding and fruit before setting off alone for the stage to Canonbie I sometimes feel better alone on a fixed with rolling hills just going at my own pace, staying at a slower pace on the hills can actually be harder work, so I kept a comfortable pace and rolled into Scotland at a 25.6km/h average, here I saw Phil(Mal Volio) along with Peter Marshall and other groups including John Radford all heading South with a cheery wave.
Canonbie was my second favourite control great support and food but rumours were abounding that if the next stage to Dalkeith and back were a stand alone ride it would be worth 3 AAA points I asked one of the helpers about the hills awaiting who just happened to be another fixie rider, “it must be a subconscious mind link”, he agreed they are tough but more in length than steepness so we swapped fixed tips on hubs and such, then stuffed and showered I found a comfortable space on the wooden floor and had 4 hours kip.

Monday D-day
Alone again I set off in the dark at a steady pace so as not to make any mistakes with the route and I was soon on the B709 valley road towards Eskdalmuir site of a small Tibetan monastery, the hills were spectacular and around every corner they just seemed to get bigger, the only dodgy thing here was the large Logging Lorries that stormed through the narrow road hitting verges and skipping around the tight bends , they reminded me of that old black & white movie ‘Hell Driver’s’. I met up with Bob McDowall and Mark Heffer who I know along here and we arrived in the early hours at Ettrick village hall, a small village in the middle of nowhere this proved to be the more surreal of controls, for as I piled biscuits onto my plate the chap behind the table said ;
[Scottish accent] “Nooooh, yer cannae have them biskits, their na’e my biskits” [Scottish accent],
me;”Can you not give him the money when he comes back”?
[Scottish accent] “NNOOOOHH!! Their na’e my biskits I canna’e take the money for them” [Scottish accent]
me; “OK then I’ll have a bacon roll please”
[Scottish accent] “Ahh, nooh the chefs asleep” [Scottish accent]
So I took what he could sell me and sat down and enjoyed it but this carried on and everyone who came in was heading for the biscuits eventually he covered them up.
This became the phrase of the ride and at every control from there on if we saw someone pick up biscuits there was a chorus of “NOOOHH!! Yer canna’e have them their na’e my biskits” ;)
From here the lower false flats out of Innerleithen proved hard work into a headwind and only served to make the next steeper part all the harder, we had our first light drizzly rain here and kept stopping to cape on and off and on and off in the end I opted for the boil in a bag look and left it on, this climb seemed to go on and on for several miles and had me alternating my climbing style to ease the back ache I was getting this eased as did the hills up to Dalkeith at Edinburgh.
Half way 11 am
Dalkeith Rugby Club proved to be an anti-climax to look at but still well controlled with good food and energy drinks glad to be halfway I felt more relaxed and at ease with the ride, as I eat my pudding Mark and Bob strolled in so again we left together, as my jelly baby stash was getting low I opted to stop at a garage and stock up and have a chocolate mars drink whilst they rolled on, after the return blast along the A7 I returned to the steep long Moorfoot hills and rolled past Bob and Mark, the loose sheep on the road kept everyones speed down on the descents so even with my controlled braking nobody passed me, on the next climb I passed Mark Brooking and Lynn Francoli on their way to Edinburgh and a few others the camararderie of cheery waves lifting our spirits on route.
The Ettrick control appeared much more normal in the afternoon and the beautiful Sue behind the counter happily sold us anything on the table, when Mark Heffer strolled in he was smitten and Sue became the topic of conversation for many a mile South. ;)
Heading from here back to Canonbie the climbs appeared much harder and steeper and soon had me tacking from side to side on the road “were they steeper or was it the miles in my legs?” well I wasn’t walking so just kept plugging away.
Back to Canonbie for tea and Rissotto and anything else I could stuff my face with without being sick. :P
Stage 11 from here to Alston proved to be the hardest for me, the hills as we reached the Pennines were steeper South than North but just rideable , the sun had set by the time we entered Alston and the temperature had dropped considerably, we all opted to continue to Langdon Beck and climb with warmed up legs rather than struggle over in the morning, so it was as we hit the cobbled wall of Alston, determined “or is that stubborn” I had to try and ride it I got half way up as far as the ‘Albion’ pub and could see the end of the cobbles but came to a halt and couldn’t budge the pedals so unclipped before falling and walked the next 50 yards until it levelled out , unknown to me Mark and Bob had got off at the bottom so I didn’t feel too bad.
We sat on a wall and stuffed an energy bar each into our faces before commencing the climb, this was the highest altitude but lowest point in the ride for me I was cold and tired climbing a steep long hill in pitch black hugging the white line in the middle of the road to avoid the drop off the edge, thankfully the sheep were asleep but a flurry of nocturnal rodents and rabbits were darting back and forth more of a problem on the descent than the climb which lasted forever in the dark, the rabbits in particular had a sucidal tendency to run to the pool of light in front of your wheel a bit like dolphins at the hull of a ship, the descent was just as bad if not worse as I felt so cold to be shaking and braking hard as the white line veered off in a different direction, so long was this descent I began to wonder if I had passed the hostel already but convinced myself they would mark it well and so they had eventually a red flashing LED light marked the entrance 11.55pm I had sanctuary,
Inside and warm, Heather and her band of merry helpers swarmed around providing soup, pasta, chilli con-carne on jacket spuds, excellent stuff to warm up a cold randonneur “but not ideal for atmospherics in a hostel bedroom” ;D ;) .
Once Bob and Mark turned up and we had all fed it was bed for three hours. Some of us snored slept more than others, "sorry lads". :-[

Tuesday
Nobody really wanted to get up it was so cold but “a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do” so grub up again and out to the cold as I got on my bike I realise my front tyre is flat so a quick tube change and we are off joined by Phil Magnus who is soon ahead again, 5 miles up the road I feel the front going squidgy again this time it proves to be a previously dodgy repair “oops only myself to blame for that”, repaired again we follow the rolling roads to Barnard Castle and arrive back at Eppleby village hall to see a large pile of bin bags where Mark throws his bike on the pile and falls next to it, cue a bunch of Belgians and Italians and myself taking his picture, inside the familiar face of Roger Philo was there to greet us and stamp our cards, inside we caught up with Phil Magnus again and a guy called Karl who knows Felix from C+ forum and had been told to look out for me Karl had left home midnight Friday night to ride 100 miles to the start at London only having breakfast and a catnap before starting off that’s dedication for you.
Between here and the next stop Hovingham we met up with the Italian group again still going strong but often the wrong way, at Hovingham I felt tired again and opted for a short sleep and let Bob and Mark roll on as we would only ride at different pace over the Howardian hills anyway, 30 minutes sleep and I felt like a new man and flew up and down past the Castle Howard Obelisk and not long into the flat stuff caught up with my compatriots again along with a Welshman Gwyn Roberts we all worked together into the wind towards Thorne here the discussion of PBP food comparisons came up and Mark retold how he was given a plate of veg and rice with a piece of chicken on top, he explained to the guy he was vegetarian could he do a veggie meal, he replied “Oui” and took the piece of chicken off the top ;D
Mark then added he didn’t eat anything with a face on it so I added “Oh dear Sue in Ettrick will be disappointed” ;D it was constant banter like this that kept us all in good spirits and the ride began to feel more like a tour than randonne`. ;D
The flat bit into Thorne had taken its toll on all of us and I opted for the prevention is better than cure method after slapping on my cream I put on my clean shorts with the other two pairs on top and adjusted my saddle slightly down this worked a treat and although at times uncomfortable I was never in pain.
The next stage into Lincoln at night was very hard going and just seemed to take much longer than it should have but get there we did just at midnight here we all had a good feed and slept 6 hours although my shower water ran cold just as I had soaped up not the ideal time for a cold shower but I just made it as quick as possible. “Brrrr"

Wednesday final leg
We awoke to a lovely day and after numerous bowls of porridge set of in bright but cool sunshine as we moved South it got warmer and de-layered I stopped for a hedge stop and set off to catch them up and found myself struggling into a headwind as I turned left towards Caythorpe a tractor overtook me and I just thought “that will do lovely” and sprinted up to its slip stream and sat there at 38 km/h dragging me back up to my mates shame he wasn’t going to Lea Valley ;) On this section here is where we left the flat stuff and were back in rolling hills where I saw Phil Chadwick[Mal Volio] and Peter Marshall going towards their finish at Thorne, ahead of me by time as they were closer to Thorne than I was to London, soon at Thurlby school here I met more of those heading North such as John Radcliffe, gingerly sitting down after suffering the Southern flatlands sudocream shorts abounded down here.
It reminded me of the old 'Colgate' toothpaste advert quote 'the ring of confidence' seeing this ring of white around the padding on riders shorts, "the ring of comfort" it could be a new ad for 'Sudocream' ;D
I phoned my youngest sister from here who does distance healing and she said she would work on energy, bums and knees, sceptically I said "yeah ok then".
We all set off together again into black skies and were happy about being nearly home but the rain started, fine at first and progressively heavier, settling into my pace I left Bob and Mark picking up geared riders as I went to Gamlingay our last control on the road. I left here with Peter Turnbull who had actually ridden 100 miles extra going off course poor lad and we set a good pace on our home stretch the steeper hills around Broxbourne soon had me on my own again, was this good feeling euphoria of nearly finishing or my sisters good work “who cares I was going well", soaking wet but feeling good I grouped up with several other riders in the final miles using my pidgeon French to help them navigate the final stretch and we all made it in at 7.20pm. to a round of applause .
Our own forums big Gavin Gilbert came up and shook my hand, the euphoria of finishing made it slip my mind of being soaking wet and I hereby apologise for the cold soggy handshake as all the water ran out of my track mitts., I chatted for a while and sought out the showers and dry clothes, then food and a few beers, Bob and Mark finished together and we all ate, eventually Peter turned up after getting lost again but still in good time.

Today I went to a live show with these amazing artists. And it was so inspiring. Live music reminds me to keep going and inspires me and in so many different ways. This week I've been very lazy, and I didn't want to take any pictures. But that show tonight put me in the mood to go out and be creative. I'm not putting a picture for yesterday even though it was Halloween. It's going to be my reminder to always keep going foreward no matter how badly I feel like giving up. I have a lot to write tonight so, bear with me please.
There's a lot of things I'd like to say so I'm going to list them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe war has reason and that world peace will have it's day.
I believe love is love no matter what.
I believe music is the world's greatest inspiration
I believe in everyone
I believe this world will survive somehow
I believe that your choices make you
I believe all art is important
I believe I have an undiagnosed mental illness
I believe everyone is capable of spreading there wings and flying. Others have just forgotton how.
I believe that those who can't wait to get married are extremly pathetic
I believe in magic
I believe my wants are like a coin in a wishing well
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to live in a flat my whole life in a big city.
I want to grow up, I want to grow young, I want to stay at home my whole life, I want to leave and live my own life.
I want to surrond myself in beauty
I want to be beautiful
I want you to reach out to me instead of pushing me away
I want you to be sincerly happy
I want love
I want to learn all forms of art
I want someone to call and talk with me for hours
I want to go to your house and play guitar hero with you
I want to run through a car wash
I want to recieve letters, and notes, and doodles more often. They're the sweetest gift in the world.
I want everyone to see how beautiful the world really is
I want to experince advenutres
I want to scream all my secrets to the world
I want my father to see things through my eyes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't ever want drugs coursing through my veins
I don't think I'm worthy of anyone special
I don't feel sorry for soilders that die at war or their families.
I don't want to live my life strapped to one place, one person, or one job
I don't believe in god
I don't like the idea of my body rotting away in the ground
I don't want to be the girl that will pick you up when you fall, no matter how many times you don't do it for me anymore.
I don't think there is a significant other for everyone
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to think about killing myself
I used to want to swim out to sea until I was too tired swim back in
I used to feel sorry for you
I used to love you
I used to think you were everything to me
I used to feel miserable
I used to cut
I used to wonder about what people would do if I was no longer breathing
I used to be sucidal. I don't think I am anymore
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Big huge spaces are beautiful, but they make me feel so small I can't breathe
I stopped because of you. Your the biggest jerk ever. You make me feel ugly, horrible, stupid, and unworthy of everything. But I will love you no matter what.
I know my sister will be more successful than me. So does my mother.
Parents who expect great things from their children often forget to tell them it's okay if they screw up. I feel sorry for you for this reason.
You are the greatest and sweetest boy I know. Whoever you fall in love with will be the luckiest girl in the world.
My scars are my own, and the fact that I am okay with it now, makes me feel happy.
I stayed in a relationship with you to proove everyone else wrong about you. I was wrong. Very very wrong.
I love the conversations we had over the summer, I don't understand what I did that made you hate me.
I miss kissing you, but I never want to kiss you again
Abostions don't bother me. At all.
I wish I could fly.
Ants are the grossiest things ever.
Feathers remind me that one day I'll be free from all of this.
It's not that I like girls more than guys. It's just I'd rather have a more emotional based relationship with a guy, and a more physical based relationship with girl. :/
Everybody talks about everybody
I wasn't mad that you got her, I was mad she got you
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think about love
I think about my friends
I think about the "what if's"
I think about the past
I think about the future
I think about things that are important
I think about my actions
I think that if I grow up by just getting by, and going a community college just so I can go to college I will be absoutly miserable
I think about my family
I think about death
I think that you hiding something much bigger than yourself
I think too much
I think about being alive
I think life is easier for men and that makes me try harder

Just a ridiculous weapon for confident sucidal or just use the weapon flipped :v
Can be only used properly by Gambut people :v
(at least it has some shapes there :v . Just for fun
What if you dont like it because that is so preset? No problem, I can delete it :v)
Sandhoppers obviously have the same problem as moths - flinging themselves at the light - or in this case, a campfire...
Not one of my usual posts. The cliff is 162m high. Lily thoroughly enjoyed the place, she was dancing and running around.
The vendor who screwed me over on the spraypaint the day prior hooked me up for a $1 on each of these tapes. For some reason tapes that were once .50 are now going up to $2. I don't know why but I'm not going to pay that much for them. Ended up scoring the paint as well for a dollar each as well as a couple other things. Might of made a mistake on a Motorhead '84-'85 Tour shirt I passed up on. He wanted $3 and I said $2. He took it out of my hands. The only reason I passed up on it is because as it was cut in half(yep, just like heshens wore them back in the day), it had holes in it and the sleeve was sewed back up. Unfortunatly, that shirt was scooped up no questions asked by somebody else in less that a minute. Oh well. Just check out those tapes. A hell of a score. Early thrash and speed, and some punk and hxc.
No I'm not sucidal!
I got this idea while I was at work, playing with a broken rubber band and thinking of making a noose out of it. For the "ring bell for service" bell, but of course, the rubber band was too small but I realized it would be perfect for a mini figure! Thats when the idea started. I intended to make it a guy at first,(So I'd get less "Are you ok?" emails.) but I couldn't find my girl picture tile fast enough and I felt like making a gay statement would over shadow the suicide itself.
. . . to a temporary problem.
* * * * * * * Warning! * * * * * * * * *
This video is not here for fun.
In the past two weeks two people in the small town where I grew up committed suicide.
One was a boy, only 16 years old. I was unacquainted with him, but that makes it no less a tragedy. In a town where the high school has only about 400 students such a needless death hits hard.
The other was a man I didn't know well. We were what I refer to as friendly acquaintances. We were connected first because he provided a service to my business when I was self employed and also because we worked for the same company although at different locations. He was the sort who always seemed happy and was a friend to everybody. He had touched many people in a positive way in a small Midwestern town of about 4500. I have no clue what may have brought him to such desperate measures.
The world can be a harsh place, but there are resources to help.
If you are contemplating taking your own life, please be aware you are not hurting only yourself. Please seek assistance.
If you know someone you suspect may have sucidal thoughts, act now to assist them in getting help. Don't wait to see if they are really serious. By the time you know it may be too late.

Rami, my company commander was a hero. In the night of the battle on the Chinese farm, he led us in a rescue operation. Only few of us were left after hours of fighting. Many soldiers were left behind enemy lines, injured and dead. He decided to bring them back. His superiour told him to stay because it was too dangerous, in fact it was sucidal. but Rami refused a direct order saying "Don't desturb me now!". It was a nightmare, all burning around, every moving target would be fired at from all drections. We went once, fighting all the way to pick up our colleagues. We had about 30 wounded people on our tank. I couldn't believe that we stayed alive when Rami said we are going there again, there are more to rescue. קובי לפיד
