In botany, succulent plants, also known as succulents, are plants that have some parts that are more than normally thickened and fleshy, usually to retain water in arid climates or soil conditions. Wikipedia

Succulents I found near the South African Cape of Good Hope.

Succulents sometimes get spectacular flowers and then fruits, such as this Rhipsalis with its long 'arms'.

I was happy with your views, reactions and comments on my previous photo. Thanks!

My flower garden is host to a variety of plants I've had for many years. One of my favorites are my tiny succulents. I captured this image one day when the flower buds were just about to open.

Many years ago I gave up trying to keep an orderly garden, and what a relief that was. Now plants can grow anywhere they please and I happily embrace their choices. Tomatoes among the cacti; not a problem, if they're happy, so am I.

And so it is, I have a lovely succulent with these tiny white flowers, I've no idea what it is, but it looked good on my phone screen, and here it is on Flickr: wonders will never cease.

The word succulent comes from the Latin word sucus, meaning 'juice', or 'sap'. Succulent plants, also known as succulents, are plants with parts that are thickened, fleshy and engorged, usually to retain water in arid climates or soil conditions. Succulents are often grown as ornamental plants because of their striking and unusual appearance, as well as their ability to thrive with relatively minimal care. The habitats of these water preserving plants are often in areas with high temperatures and low rainfall, such as deserts. Succulents have the ability to thrive on limited water sources, such as mist and dew, which makes them equipped to survive in an ecosystem which contains scarce water sources. 32125

Succulent that is in fact a candle. Given to me by my fabulous friend!

A succulent, in a yard in San Diego County, California. identify.plantnet.org says that it's Sempervivum, Aeonium, or Crassula.

Thank you for looking! Isn't God a great artist?

I think I will plant more succulents in the garden as our summers seem to get warmer and drier every year and that's something many other plants don't cope well with. Succulents come in many nice shapes and colours and I especially like the Echeverias, like the one in this photo.
