Hawk owl returning to its perch[hydro line LOL] after a successful dive in snow
The vole is covered by its wing didn't get a good angle that shows it other that back side of owl this was sharpest image of the burst
A man is a success if he gets up in the morning
and goes to bed at night and in between
does what he wants to do
Here's just one more from Sunday's hunt. Seems like I should show at least one result of the dives anyway.
From earlier this year. One of the 3 recently fledged juvenile Common Kingfishers with a tasty (albeit tiny) fish. You have to start somewhere.
You can tell this female is a juvenile by the dark feet and the remains of the white aiming spot on the end of the bill.
As the name suggests, the Marsh Harrier lives in wetland habitats. They are a success story now after being extinct in Britain in the 19th Century. Since the first pairs bred in 1971 in Suffolk they have increased very well indeed, as has the wetland management on which they depend. It is now a regular sight to see these wonderful large harriers hunting over our marshes. I photographed this one locally, something that I would not have thought possible only 30 years ago.
Thank you for having a look at my photos. Comments or faves are very welcome and much appreciated.
A royal spoonbill catches lunch at the lagoon. It is a 4 km walk from our friends house around the lagoon and beach and back to the house but always some pictures to be taken!
Hope you have a successful Friday and thanks very much if you have time for a comment.
This time of year it's probably the most iconic and photographed building in North Wales. When I took this shot at 8.00am on Saturday 26th September 2020, the air temperature was 5.5C and it was very cold. I wasn't alone. There were 8 other trusty souls who'd travelled from far and wide to take similar shots as the sun rose. Autumn sees its Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus Quinquefolia) which morphs from its Summer green into a vibrant colour ranging from reddish orange to burgundy during this time of year. I plan to return when the sky is much bluer too.
Tu Hwnt i'r Bont ( Beyond the Bridge) is considerably older than the Inigo Jones bridge it stands besides. Over the centuries it has fallen into disrepair several times and been rebuilt and restored through the generosity of the townsfolk.
During the last century, it was acquired by the National Trust who have since leased the building for over 50 years. The decision made by the original leaseholder to turn it into a traditional Welsh Tea Room has proved to be a great success.
Pleasingly, after implementing COVID requirements, it reopened on 21st July 2020 and it's well worth a visit!
Four Whiskered Tern (Chlidonias hybrida) exploring their lucks in the intertidal mudflats with perfect following up moves. The first one got its catch in the beak right after taking it off from the water surface with the typical style while the rest of the three were following the same pattern of moves in the backdrop. The symmetry of moves and the Bokeh transition with the hint of Depth of field are the special effects in this unique composition. Pics was taken from Patibunia beach, West Bengal, India.
Thousands of Guillemots have arrived back at the Cliffs at Bempton. These Auks often re-vist their breeding sites during the winter months and then disappear again. A recent paper suggests that those that return early and re-establish their nest sites early, have a better chance of breeding success.
Several pairs were showing breeding behaviour even though wer are still in January.
Thousands of fans lined the streets of Burnley (May 6th, 2025) as the town’s football club celebrated its return to the Premier League with a parade.
Fans lined the streets and red and blue plumes of smoke could be seen as crowds gathering outside Burnley Town Hall and along the open-top bus parade route.
The open-top bus parade then made its way through the town centre to Turf Moor to the delight of thousands of fans.
The parade today was after the Clarets clinched promotion with a 2-1 win over Sheffield United in April.
Burnley became the first side in English football history to finish with 100 points but not be crowned champions, yet they also conceded only 16 goals in 46 league games – bettering the record set by Liverpool, who conceded 16 across 42 matches in 1978-79.
Success this season means manager Scott has achieved three Championship promotions with three different teams, having previously guided Fulham and Bournemouth out of the second tier.
It also means Burnley will once again compete in the top flight having last been there in 2023/24 under Vincent Kompany.
With the best wishes for health (most important), love (just as important) and success (over advertised but yet very handy) for 2025
Lately, CSX has been sending through some old school bangers as leaders on the Toledo Subdivision. Annoyingly, they usually passed through while I was at work, as is customary.
Word came in on August 21 that southbound Q507-21 would consist of an SD40-2 leader, 8367. Hey, a standard cab is a standard cab, take what you can get, right? Thanks to an early release from work, I grabbed my gear from home and made a B line to Tipp City, where the shot took place.
I was pleased, but I had hoped to chase this train to downtown Dayton for one more shot before heading home for the evening, and so did a number of other railfans out that day. About 5 miles south of here, the lead motor took a shit. It wasn't loading, like, at all. A call to LA mentioned they would need to bring this train to a stop to troubleshoot. This day's Q507 was shy of 13,000ft, so the only place to park it was in Vandallia. After about 30-45 minutes of troubleshooting with no success, and with daylight at prime time, CSX mechanical was dispatched from Cincinnati to assist.
ETA...2 hours.
Mission failed, we'll get em next time.

On the synthetic track, a striking image emerges: in the centre, a beaming athlete, her body full of energy, her face radiant with victory !
Her sculpted muscles bear witness to impeccable preparation and uncompromising training.
Around her, a circle of collapsed figures. Their backs bent, their gazes lost, they are the embodiment of total despondency. Their bodies, once taut with effort, are now collapsed, as if emptied of all ambition.
Their smiles stand in stark contrast to the gloomy atmosphere around them. Every detail of their movements screams success, while their opponents seem to have given up.
A crystalline moment in which sport reveals its most brutal emotions: absolute glory versus utter despair. !!!! 🤔

Red-cockaded Woodpecker (Dryobates borealis)
Francis Marion National Forest, South Carolina, U.S.A.
A Red-cockaded Woodpecker clings to a longleaf pine, momentarily pausing from his relentless drilling.
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) has played a crucial role in the survival of the Red-cockaded Woodpecker in the Southeastern United States. Since its listing as an endangered species in 1973, federal protection has facilitated active conservation efforts, including habitat restoration and management on federal lands such as national forests and military installations. I've seen firsthand the positive impact of this protection on numerous Army installations across the American Southeast. As a result of these efforts, this species has been downlisted from "endangered" to "threatened," marking a major milestone in its recovery.
These guys (Great Egret) are awesome and this posture was great. They kept trying to grab something but with little success.
After many years of putting up a variety of birdhouses we finally have a nesting pair of swallows who have taken up our offer and moved in to one of them. They are very attentive parents and are constantly checking the contents of their new home which I assume is one or two eggs.? Two years ago we did find a flying squirrel nesting in one of the other bird houses. The flying squirrel is nocturnal so we had no idea he/she was there until I went to take it down for some maintenance. I almost fell off the ladder when he/she jumped on my shoulder.
It's not much of a photo but I couldn't help but share our delight at our new tenants.
I've had great fun testing out the slow motion video function on my new camera on this pair - but - I am definitely not a videographer.
P.S. I don't own a 300mm f2.8 lens so I don't know why the EXIF info on this shot says that was what it was taken with ... wish I did own one. The photo was taken with a Sigma/Bigma 50-500mm Minolta a-mount with a mount adaptor.

Spent fours hours at the river yesterday watching the Juvenile Kingfishers as they honed their fishing skills ...
Caught this one as it returned to its perch after successfully catching a tiny fish ...
Stay safe out there ...

Hiked a challenging trail with snow, 13 down trees and large stone faces to navigate in early July. Northern Idaho
For those who have been following along with the saga of the solar-powered faux candles - here they are!! And I learned several things in the process of getting them to function:
1) when faced with big jobs like tax info organization, I will instead choose smaller more manageable tasks,
2) I am like a terrier with a bone, I’ll keep at it until I’m pleased with the results,
3) problem solving is best done after a nap - my brain evidently comes up with possibilities as I sleep,
4) when in doubt, go back to the source to see if they give you clues as to how to proceed or to solve,
5) FB’s bots follow all your likes and will put things in your path to buy again - probably IG and Amazon too,
6) I am often so anxious to show you things that I put up pictures of things that aren’t picture perfect - I should clean them up before posting

What Success means to me:
Success isn't everything on my life it is a consequence of my hard work, let me explain:
My father had a camera, it weren't that good, but weren't too bad. them I started to use it, taking pictures of the nature, (flowers, trees, insects) and post on the internet. Whem I started, I didn't had too much hability
Over the years, my photos were getting better, slowly, I was taking courses in editing photos (to give a more professional touch to them) them my pictures where getting better and better.
Then, someone invited me to enter in pitcures contest, where, with deeply effort, dedication and care, I was hired by a company.
I want to meam, that for me, the most important thing on my life, isn't success, it is hard work and dadication, give you heart to all the pictures.
Success is a consequence that can be benign or not, if you don't know how to handle it.
You can't wait the "sucess" fall from the sky, you need to search for it, if you really want, I searched for it, studied, practiced, did everything possible and impossible, look where I am now! Look how my pictures were, and look how they are now.
Success is achieved by overcoming obstacles, challenges, overcoming the insurmountable and NEVER forgot to belive on yourself, belive that can do everything you want, I belive in you!
I do not know if I expressed it correctly, if you have any doubts about what I wrote, please leave a comment..
I wrote with the highest security possible,
Thank you very much for your comprehencion.

ps.: the litlle history above, is based in my real history, but I didn't started taking pictures of the nature, I started taking pictures of my Bratz dolls, the rest is all true, except the fact "wired by a company", but maybe it can become true! why not?
ps²: Why I chose photographer for Ashley: it is my true talent, and I made Ashley's personality very close to mine. I love to take picture, it is my own lifestyle.
the little picture on Ashley's picture are old pictures that I did without use too much edition and pictures with natural background
ps³: Did you see my last pictures? aren't they better?
I'm giving my all to do amazing pictures, not only for that contest, I'm showing all my creativity, to finish this contest with the "gold key". I KNOW THAT I CAN DO IT!! :D:D:D
