I spent the morning watching Burrowing Owls. It took a couple of hours before they got a bit active but that's what a good audio book is for. This one was my favorite of the morning. He was approaching a landing on one of the posts by the nest. (Athene cunicularia)
After the rainforest hike at the beautiful Freycinet National Park (Tasmania, Australia. Series 2), which the previous fern frond pic paused, we returned that night after the hike to our contemporary and stylish cement bungalow at the beach, with such great views of The Three Peaks (see pic 10 pics b4, which also attracted an Explore).
In this pic, we -- the two photographers and the one binocularist -- have gotten up the next morning for a beach walk. The beach consists of sand and big granite rocks and boulders, with and without kelp.
Granites intruded the east coast of Tasmania about 400 million years ago, which the coast has long been famous for ... indeed, at night with a good sunset they glow like cinders, easily matching our BBQ!
Here, we can see an example of these awesome granite boulders framing the idyllic seascape, at the southern end of the Three Peaks.

I saw this excellent 'graffiti' drawing on the side of a telephone box and it didn't take long for the story behind to match what I envisioned. I wish I could credit the artist involved. Enjoy!

Die Skulptur "Open Ended"
des amerikanischen Künstlers Richard Serra wiegt fast 216 Tonnen.
Das stählerne Kunstwerk ist 4 Meter hoch, 18 Meter lang und 7 Meter breit.
ein Riese voller Kontraste: sowohl schwer als auch elegant, industriell und organisch, stattlich und verspielt, konvex und konkav.
Sechs gewölbte Stahlplatten bilden zusammen ein Labyrinth. Open Ended ist eine Arbeit, die am besten erlebt wird, wenn man durch sie hindurch geht.

Not hard to spot this Green-tailed Towhee with its red crest and mewing call.
