Baker City Artist Studio Tour
Artists at work during the annual Baker Artists Studio Tour. Up to a dozen artists open their studio doors to public each year for this annual event to let the public se the creative process at work.
The Open Studio Tour is one of numerous events celebrating the arts throughout Baker County including an extensive First Friday Artwalk, during which restaurants and retailers throughout the downtown host live music and entertainment on the first Friday of each month. Other arts events include the Baker Open Artists Studio Tour in October, the monthly Thursday Art Night at the historic Eltrym Theater, the We Like ‘em Short Film Festival in August and the Great Salt Lick Art Auction in September.
Visitors will also find numerous art galleries throughout Baker City’s historic downtown including the Crossroads Carnegie Art center in the restored Carnegie Library building and a trip to the small town of Halfway is not complete without a stop at the Halfway Whimsical Artists Co-op.

... oil on canvas, 18" x 18". My final painting for the local studio tour on the last two weekends of the month (making 18 new paintings since last year's show). Title refers to the dire circumstances for monarch butterflies who are disappearing at a tragic rate. This image is based on a photo I took of the one monarch I saw in my area last summer (used to always see many dozens--including eggs and caterpillars; but no eggs nor caterpillars last year nor this). Did see a few butterflies this summer around my property.
