One of the largest group of Hawker Hurricanes to fly together in the preservation era, no less than eight of the classic fighters, tailchasing over Duxford airfield during the September Battle of Britain Airshow. The 1940 Battles of France and Britain were the peak of the Hurricane's career - it was the only British fighter sent to France and its numerical superiority over the Spitfire in the Battle of Britain meant that it took the lion's share of the strain and destroyed the most German aircraft.
