Irish Saint on Dutch Saint's Day
From the 4th or 5th centure it was the seat of the Kings of Munster. In 1101 it was handed to the Chruch and it flourished as a religious centre until a siege by a Cromwell army in 1647. The cathedral was abandoned in the late 18th century.
