The back door to St Edward's Church, Stow on the Wold. A magical place - but there are always other people trying to get in the way when I go to get yet another photograph! Note to self:- Be patient, be kind, SHARE the magic!!
The north door of St. Edwards church, Stow on the Wold, England. Thought to be Tolkein's inspiration for Durins' door in Lord of the Rings.
This lane, which actually makes a Y-shape around the church, takes its name from the church itself: St Edward King and Martyr (though the sign just outside just says St Edward).
The church is medieval, dating to the 13th century, and remodeled around 1400.
The Christmas Eve Midnight Mass held here in 1525 is believed to be the first non-Catholic sermon in what would be the English Reformation (worth nothing is that this was a couple of years before Henry VIII asked the pope for an annulment of the marriage to his first queen, which was famously not granted).

While headed home from Three Rivers, I took M-60, a route I've travelled a quite a few times before. As I entered Mendon, I just happened to look to my left and noticed this church, something I'd never noticed before. Amazing, and all stone. I can't imagine how much labor went into building a church in this manner, but it must have been a labor of love. The darned sky was just terrible today for photographs, so this is one I'll revisit on a better day. It deserves it.
This is probably my favorite bridal I have done.

A rather nice window designed by George Gilbert Scott and added during the restorations of 1858–60
After watching the ghost story "The Stalls of Barchester" on YouTube the previous evening, I wanted to make a spooky shot of St Edward's church, Leek, Staffordshire.
