A yellow billed stork feeds in the shallows at sunset as a croc glides past...

Tricolored Herons are very good at sneaking up on their prey fish.

Early morning this Jungle Cat was hunting for rodents or birds in a grassland area of beautiful Panna National Park in Madhya Pradesh, India ( April 2019 )

It was circling an area with longer grass, stopping frequently to listen and to look inside

The Jungle Cat is a widespread smaller cat in temperate and tropical South Asia. Its fur is quite uniformly colored with some markings on the limbs and tail. It has fairly long legs and can weigh over 10kg (20lbs).

To be able to sit and watch this incredible enormous bird in the quiet of my own hide at my own pond is such a fantastic experience, these creatures are truly a marvel of nature and and an incredible predator with patience I’ve not seen in many animals.

Great Blue Heron 3441

Not sure about this wing formation there captured in the fraction of a second, but I think this is this eagle's stealth fighter mode so that the fish's radar cannot pick up the eagle's 'signature' ;)

I walked right past this American bittern without seeing it. They are such stealthy hunters, walking through water and dry grass without making a sound. Fortunately I was more observant on the return trip.

Giving the photographers of Edmonton many hours of frustration :-))

Happy New Year!

With amazing hearing, long legs and wide feet Great Blue Herons are a cinch to be stealth hunters !

Have a safe and delightful day dear Flickr friends !

This green heron favors a dark, tucked away corner of the La Crosse River Marsh. This morning, it "stepped into the light" while hunting for frogs.

This Tri-colored Heron was hardly making a ripple as it hunted in the shallow calm waters off the Gulf Coast of Florida.

I don't know how they do it, but this bittern stalked its prey through the grass and water without making a sound or a ripple in the water.

F-35A Lightning II from the 495th FS visiting Wales on a cold January day

I think this is a Ringlet (Aphantopus hyperantus) but with no eye markings on the wings I'm not completely sure. All in black it is definitely trying to avoid radar detection though!! We saw this on the slopes of Pressendye on our descent back to Tarland.

Pressendye is just a small Graham of 620 meters (2034 feet), but a 15 Km (9 mile) circuit definitely stretched the legs.
