Der Star ist kein gewöhnlicher Allerweltsvogel, denn er hat herausragende Talente: Der Star kann andere Vögel und Umgebungsgeräusche perfekt nachahmen und in seinen Gesang einbauen. Zu hören sind dann sogar Handyklingeltöne, Hundebellen oder Alarmanlagen. Zum Star unter den Vögeln wird er auch durch seine atemberaubenden Schwarmformationen, bei denen hunderttausende Individuen perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt durch die Lüfte gleiten.
The starling is no ordinary, everyday bird, because it has outstanding talents: the starling can imitate other birds and environmental noises perfectly and incorporate them into its song. You can even hear cell phone ring tones, dog barks or alarm systems. It also becomes a star among birds thanks to its breathtaking swarm formations, in which hundreds of thousands of individuals glide through the air in perfect coordination.

Star Finches are found in Northern Australia, and the Toledo Zoo Aviary. The are considered "threatened" because of habitat loss, and the "cage bird trade." They are a common bird in aviaries though!
Clematis flower ( Star Of India )
taken at this year's Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show ( MIFGS ).
Last year I could not find any Clematis flowers but this year they were back in force.

Im Sternbild Großer Bär befindet sich der Stern Dubhe, der nach Eisbär Knuts Tod von seinen und meinen Freunden auf seinen Namen getauft wurde.
"Bei einer privaten Sterntaufe wird ein durch eine Katalognummer bezeichneter Stern mit einem selbstgewählten Namen benannt. Alle Sterne werden in der Wissenschaft mit Katalognummern bezeichnet, um eine einfache Identifikation zu ermöglichen."
Seitdem habe ich den blauen Stern an meinem Bettelarmband und natürlich auch einen Eisbären ;-)
Der Name Dubhe stammt von dem arabischen Wort دب / dubb /‚Bär'

In the constellation Great Bear is the star Dubhe, which was baptized after the polar bear Knut's death by his and my friends in his name.
"In a private star baptism, a star designated by a catalog number is named with a self-chosen name. All stars are designated in science with catalog numbers to allow for easy identification."
Since then I have the blue star on my begging bracelet and of course a polar bear ;-)
The name Dubhe comes from the Arabic word دب / dubb /'bear'
Taken for the Macro Mondays theme of star. These are individual florets from an allium head which I had dried to use as a decoration. Cropped to be well within the 3" rule.
Morning Glory flower up close, taken late morning in Port Elliot during our road trip to South Australia.
I like this optical illusion, the tubular section of the flower appears more like a solid round object rather than a hollow tube.

The adult males are difficult to find. During the migration they are the first to leave on their road South. I felt fortunate to catch this one zipping around the backyard the last of August.
A single star is watching my steps by going upstairs.

A processed IR image of the Ferris wheel entrance. The City Star is the largest mobile Ferris wheel in the world.
Nachdem der Star sich ausgiebig geputzt hatte, erfolgte ein kräftiges Schütteln, dass diese wunderbare Frisur zum Vorschein brachte.Euch allen einen schönen Sonntag.
My latest and so far most successful attempt at star trails. This time rather than simply taking a single long exposure I took a number of shots over 30 mins and combined them in Photoshop resulting in a lot less noise and many more visible trails. I need to experiment further.

Little flower clusters of Astrantia major ’Star of Fire’. The closer you look at them, the more exquisite they look.

An "on location" wrist shot of this vintage handwound Chinese military wrist watch: "Jixing" brand, made by the Jilin Watch Factory (吉林手表厂). In the left background the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry terminal and in the distance the skyline of Hong Kong Island.
The "Jixing" (吉星) brand means roughly "Lucky Star". The 軍用 on the dial means "military use". These watches were issued during the China-Vietnam conflict in 1979 - and also in the "second phase" of this conflict in 1984.
Apart from the different case color this watch is same as the other Jixing watch shown here. And, even if these "Jixing" are certified military watches, one usually expects a more "tactical" look from such timepieces.
