This is bus was new to Edinburgh Corporation as 101 in 1962.
Seen here on George Street leaving Lothian Buses cavalcade.
Edinburgh Corporation 101 was a Leyland Leopard PSU3/2R with experimental Alexander three door bodywork, fitted with 33 seats, with room for 30 standees.
It entered service in April 1962 after being exhibited at the 1961 Scottish Motor Show. It was then rebuilt to a single door coach and was painted in the black and white coach livery for use on the Edinburgh airport shuttle.
It passed to Lothian Region Transport in May 1975 and was fitted with 45 bus seats and repainted madder and white.
It was withdrawn in 1988 and has been preserved in its original three door layout.
Standee's neon sign is lowered down to a waiting trailer.

The NEW WORLD FIRST BUS (NWFB) Dennis Tridents 1001-1190 represented the first batch of 190 buses and started their service on 1 September 1998. Their 12-metre Alexander ALX500 bodies were built in 3 different places, in Falkirk, UK, by Alexander, in Hong Kong by NWFB and in Xiamen, China, by Golden Dragon. These buses are licensed to carry 133 passengers.
(59 seated on upper deck, 32 seated on lower deck and 42 standees on lower deck).
This photo was taken at the bus terminus at North Point ferry pier on the north side of Hong Kong island.
OK, it's only just started loading here, but it did have standees when it left!
It's Buses Excetera S40 (S40 ETC, ex-SN54 GRU), seen loading up fifteen minutes before departure, just after arriving. It was nice that the driver let the passengers on during the layover.
The 479 an hour behind this was fellow Enviro prototype S12 (S12 ETC). However, that had started the day in Guildford - the inbound trip to Guildford was step entrance Olympian VA141 (R141 EVX)...! Good that they swapped it off though.

My Monday is a little more bearable this week thanks to The Standee, which can be unveiled only on June 27.
*This life size, cut out standee with that of a female, was sold to a private party anonymously /have no clue where or who owns them/ from an exhibit held at the "Los Angeles Federal Savings Art Gallery in 1985.
p.s. as to the title, it is absolutely true for I can swear that every time I look at myself in the mirror I see the marks the war has left on my own face.
After delivering the aforementioned Alexander 'Q type' B10M to Kent yesterday, the return load was something more to my liking. AML 97H is a rare survivor of hundreds of ill starred London Transport AEC Swifts. Their only remaining enclave, (though most much modified), is Malta and the good times are due to end there soon. The Park Royal bodied standee saloon is seen at Scratchwood Services (London Gateway in new parlance) yesterday with RBW's little van for company. The journey back was a protracted affair as we trundled primarily up the A5 in preference to the Motorway. The old girl ran well considering her only outing in many years has been to the test station.
The last PSV usage was with Basil William's famous Hants and Sussex operation the remains of who's livery it still wears.
Following buses around is apparently good for 'little van' as it returned a most pleasing 70mpg!

Their only route in Croydon for the time being is the 75, 54 runs close in Elmers End but not quite close enough for me to count it as a Croydon route (with exceptions to the borough of course).

A London Transport Leyland National II from the Red Arrow unit heads down Old Oak Common Lane in September 1981, destined for the British Rail depot of the same name for the open day that was being held on the 20th of that month.
It would seem by looking through the bus windows that by using the standee buses in place of normal seated ones, more people could be crammed in and LS472 demonstrates this point with a healthy load.
This image shows the back side of the Zombie Standees. This creates a business card that doubles as a product & gift. The web address lines up to stay intact after trimming out the zombie. I use mini-moo cards as my standard Idle Afternoon business cards.

So, I was passing by this standee today, and 2 people were walking by it. Said the first "Do you know what that movie is about?"
The second said "No, not really, but I think it is about that robot that helps Luke Skywalker fly his plane."
It took me several minutes to stop laughing.

Although this particular example is a Red Arrow vehicle, the 138 used similar MBs which weren't standee vehicles but had more seats in the forward part of the bus.
