New Jersey's Governor Phil Murphy ordered that all flags across New Jersey be lowered to half-staff indefinitely in honor of those we have lost, and will lose, during the pandemic.

With the sun setting fast on this freezing February day 56124 gives us the full glint treatment as she runs off the North Staffs line at North Staffs Jnc with the 1530 Pinnox Sidings to Chaddeston empty stone train.

I have been messing with this shot for a few days trying to find the best way to present it. A black and white version was looking favourite until I decided to crop the sky out which was a bit bland. The dead space worked really well and shows the glint off to the max....I think.

It's cold in space, and I can't remember what the sun feels like anymore on my skin. Training for this mission has been a lifelong dream.

Sitting with the new crew, looking around at the diversity of the people I will be spending the next three years in space with, is not only a bit scary, but intimidating. Major Nia Angel is known for his ethics, logical decisions, and his ability to see through any storm. How will I measure up?

Seasoned Pilots like Captain Lori Bailey and Captain Kitten Caboose remind me that I am with the best of the best.

Without our Doctor Dutch Galaxy, would this team manage the perils that will come our way, as we explore the unknown Universe in this multimillion-dollar ship?

My years of science training, piloting, and research will enhance this team, and we will become more than just crew; we will become a family.

I am nervous to hear our first official staff meeting. Time to focus and take some notes.. winks

Signing off for now,

Western Painted Turtles catching rays in a Fall evening, Juanita Bay near Seattle, Wasington, USA. The committee seems to have split into two factions.

Hot Springs is known for the natural hot spring water that flows to the bath houses on main street. I do not remember the staff getting buck you-know-what, but the customers do. I suppose everyone should tryout the famous healing waters. Personally, I found the several hundred head shower spigots coming from every direction known to man (or woman) to be, well, a bit overstimulating!

It was dark here, it took a great deal of effort to organise a 10 minute shoot & as a consequence it felt rushed. This is in a City of London Hotel in a closed area not available to the public unless....you beg!

About the photograph.

They are re-enactors dressed up in 1940s kind of clothes, and runs what appears to be a 1940s style shop.

Back in those days, shops were not really self-service, and in order to do the shopping, customers would have to tell the staff what they want.

As you can see, most of the food is found on the shelves behind them, which is why staff often have to fetch what you want, then ring up the costs.

They were chatting with visitors whom are interested in learning what shops of this era was like, and apparently someone must’ve said something funny, hence the shop girls having a laugher, and that was when I caught the monment.

I originally thought about turning it into black and white, but figured for the moment, leave it in colour so you, the viewers, could see what the 1940s packaging colours are like.

Notice the box of KitKat chocolates in the lower left corner of the photo, is in blue coloured wrapper.

That was because of milk shortages during the Second World War, so KitKat switched from milk chocolate to dark chocolate, and thus the packaging switched colours to remind customers of the switch in recipe. The red packaging returned in 1947 as they switched back to milk chocolate recipe.

About Severn Valley Railway.

The Severn Valley Railway is a 16 miles single track heritage railway line in Worcestershire and Shropshire, between the towns of Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. The railway line follows the course of the River Severn along the Severn Valley.

The train services are often hauled by a mix of vintage steam locomotives, and classic diesel locomotives, usually pulling resorted heritage carriages.

The Severn Valley Railway often holds special events during some weekends, and the Step Back to the 1940s event is one of the many events.

A large fleet of buses were used to bring workers to Aldenham every day. Note the GS staff bus.

As the Royal Netherlands Navy HNLMS Rotterdam prepares for departure, the Dublin Port pilot boards the ship to navigate her out the channel.

Arriving on Saturday 2nd October, berthing at Cruise 18 beside the East Link toll bridge, at 166 meters, it provided great photo opportunities of this gigantic Landing Platform Dock (LPD) amphibious warfare ship, its two landing craft were on display alongside. The ship also features a large helicopter deck & internal hangar.
