Too much wind today no good for rocksbalancing

I tried to experiment with focus stacking. This is a test shot operated with Helicon Remote on my Android tablet and stacked in Photoshop.

My new PC case. The Coolermaster Stacker 830.

stacked images of the lunar eclipse

Stacks (decks?) of card chains going into storage.

Another shot of the stacks...I can't get enough of these things.

Focus Stacked from 33 images these cones are tiny, and were found on the same tree as the catkins pictured elsewhere in my photostream. A house plant has been used to give a green background

I saw this in jek in the box's stream while looking at her shoes via the SLoCWDbo!S! pool. I commented on her picture basically saying I didn't think this could be done. I figure there was glue or photoshopping involved. I decided I would try to do it. I also figured it would be an impossible feat (without glue or photoshop).

I tried for about 20 minutes and BOOM!

A teaser for my Polaroids, which I'll get onto Flickr in a better manner... eventually. (It turns out work doesn't have a scanner, not in our office anyway, and I don't know how to find a cheap Mac OS X compatible one.)

A view of the Stacks of Duncansby. In the background just to the left can be seen the lighthouse at Duncansby Head whilst further out in the centre is the lighthouse on Muckle Skerry

One of two tall stacks at the Provo City power plant.

A test using Helicon Focus using the default DMap settings with 17 shots @ f8 just to keep the entire lens in focus. Compared to single shot @ f32.

One might think that the focus stacking doesn't present much of an advantage. If you look closely, the single shot suffers from CA (see the detail of the "Z 40mm 1:2..." text) due to the effects of diffraction. Make no mistake, the 105Z is a fabulous lens but it cannot escape physics.

many plastic bins in an alley

It's hard to put into words just how many fireworks go off on new years eve in Reykjavik.

I tried anyway. I guess this is another attempt at conveying that feeling.

12 images, taken using the trusty GorillaPod, stacked in Photoshop to show maximum light levels and highlight just how many fireworks were hitting the city skyline.
