What is reality, what is its image, and what is pure fiction? The project "Portrait in Portrait" deals with this question by presenting "portrait photos". In these pictures, the portrayed persons are additionally assigned portrait images - some photorealistic, others artistically alienated or even as drawings and paintings. A photo that carries another image immediately raises the question: To what degree of repetition can one still speak of an image of reality? Is the image within the image just as real or unreal as the original image? Is a drawn or altered portrait less real than a photograph, or does it simply reflect a different perspective? This consideration is given an additional twist by the fact that the images depicted are not "real" photographs, but were generated with the help of AI tools (stable diffusion). Thus, the images in the picture are fictions within a fictitious reality.
