Southern Shorthaul GM27-GM22 join with RL306 to lift an empty Allied Mills 2347 service over Morrison’s Hill into Jindalee NSW. At Cootamundra they will be joined by more modern horse power for their run to Narrandera to load.
Built in 1957 by Clyde Engineering, S 302, owned by Southern Shorthaul Railroad is seen parked at Kensigngton Station, Melbourne.

A70, B80 & N461 head into Mysia with 9193 empty grain to Quambatook. The sun was battling the cloud this morning hence the less than ideal lighting. 15/2/2026
4911, 602, 4904 and GM27 lead a mostly empty ballast train through Duri, ex Armidale as 5M20 on Monday 16/01/23. Non passenger movements on the Armidale line north of Tamworth are extremely rare, and on this particular day there were two non-passenger movements on the line. The other one being an empty coal wagon transfer to West Tamworth Yard for storage, with another transfer heading to West Tamworth the next day.
Three small locos (4917 / 4811 / 4815) are working hard up the Bumberry Ranges with another load of grain for the mill at Manildra. This train (8872) actually failed just past Cookamidgera with ground relay issues with 4815. This train was eventually pushed up the Bumberry's with C501 and 4829, arriving around 4 hours late to the mill.
SSR104 and SSR103 have just reached the summit of the Cullerin range, some 2396 feat above sea level, with the unofficial first loaded Manildra grain train using the new MGGH wagons to Bomaderry as 3948.
Starting 1 November 2024, Southern Shorthaul Railroad took over the Manildra Group haulage contract from Pacific National.

SSR ballast train 2M22 has just finished unloading ballast in the section between Jerrawa and Oolong. Locos C508 and 44206 are working push / pull. The ballast work was part of a three day shut down on the main south in NSW.
SSR train SK82 is not far from Tarago on its way back to Goulburn on the Canberra line. The train was only doing around 20km/h at this point due to a number of roos jumping along in front of the train.
SSR101 hauls 3142 loaded grain train from Temora through Jindalee bound for Enfield.
In their inarguation, the SSR class operated seperate from each other on shorter 20 wagon rakes, however in recent times both members of the class have been together and hauling all 40 wagons.

GM22 and 42103 appear from a row of trees, heading west through Kangaloon with the ARTC AK inspection carriages as SK83 from Unanderra to Goulburn.

An unexpected train whilst briefly in the Highlands on this day was SSRs 3142 loaded grain from Junee to Enfield. G513 is currently replacing SSR101.
