Springtail, Tomocerus minor walking on water in a milk bottle top. I scooped it from the surface of a large water filled bowl in the garden.

This springtail is about 1.0mm long. I think it's the same species as my last springtail upload although its markings are different.The light was poor but i got a few decent enough shots. I liked this one though the focus isn't perfect.

Small globular springtail - Sminthurinus niger I think

I don't even dare suggesting any attempt at a picture match ID of these little dark blobby ones. This one had something stuck to its foot. I took video, but it was a fast mover and kept moving from the focal plane.

More springtails from today.

This a new Springtail (to me that is) ...

Globular springtail on a damp water barrel lid with a milk bottle top behind it to provide some reflected colour. Taken at 5:1 and focus stacked.

A couple months ago I found these springtails in my pool. I think that the heavy rain of the night before had washed them into the pool. These were incredibly tiny, probably under .5mm long. This was the only courting pair that I found. Frans and Eddie think they are in the genus Sphaeridia, with S. pumilis being the best match.

I also found a single Bourletiella christianseni, but only managed one decent shot (at the bottom).

In the rain, Chambers Farm Woods, Springtails were found under logs!! This one was a bright pink colour. Below, another shot of it.

Was lucky to spot this very small springtail on a blade of grass.

A small dead globular springtail on a greenhouse rail. Probably Sminthurinus niger. Seems to be clutching a dewdrop. Just under 1mm body length
