Benni looks very bored here and is getting very spoiled with both of us home all day every day. She thinks someone should be walking her on the trail or at the park all day long. Oh, or going to the cupboard to get her a treat.

This is taken in the guest bedroom where she went to pout when Don didn't do her afternoon walk at 4:00.

(Benni is getting out twice a day, walk in the morning, a park in the afternoon, but also getting spoiled!)

I'm ending the year with this one of Aggie all tuckered out. We had a family sleep-over in the living room beneath the Christmas tree last night. Good times for all - especially Agnes who couldn't get enough of the room full of mattresses. She kept sneaking back in for one more nap.

Once again I can't believe how far Agnes developed over the year. She is now such a good family dog, and only really has issues when out on walks now where everyone must get yelled at. We're working on that, but we are so pleased with the sweetheart that she has become for our family.

The white and orange out-of focus dog in the background is Eva. It's going to be fun spending more time photographing her next year

Eva: It's great of you to buy this double kayak for me.

Dave: We didn't specifically buy it for you. We bought two of them.

Eva: I know. You either made a mistake or bought me a spare because I'm confident that Agnes and Bruno want nothing to do with kayaking.

Dave: No. We bought two of them. For four humans.

Eva: Your logic is flawed. If you didn't buy if for me then why am I in the front seat.

Dave: You jumped in when I came close to the dock. Then you sat down expecting a ride.

Eva: I did do that. And thanks for the lift. Now if you could just paddle a bit more I'd like to intently watch and judge a few more humans on their cabin decks.

Dave: Do you ever notice how when you're found to have made a mistake you quickly change the topic?

Eva: I'd never do that.

Dave: Really?

Eva: Hey, look! It's a pelican. Let's paddle over there so I can check it out.

Eva chilling and watching people on their properties while we kayaked by at the lake. She is a dog who likes to ride on the paddle board and she's come on my single kayak with me before, although the hull of the single kayak is quite difficult to stay on because of it's curve. She thinks that the double kayak is perfect for her. I took one out to see what she would do when she was playing on the dock with the family. When I came to the end of the dock she just jumped right in, sat down and struck this pose. The girl leads a good life.

This is one spoiled Pug! Isn't she adorable?!

Aggie's Christmas wishes all came true. Here she is hanging out at the cabin in her favourite dog bed on a chair by the window where she can watch squirrels next to the Christmas tree. Plus her and the other dogs had some new toys wrapped up waiting for them under the tree. It's a good life.

I do love how her long back legs curled cup beneath her makes he look a bit like a kangaroo. And to think we were told she was part corgi when we adopted her.

He got a Jessica Kiss Attack after this photo and looked much less serene.

"My brother, Alex is coming today from Utah and sister, Kerri is coming Saturday from New Jersey. It's going to be lots of fun but sometimes I feel a bit neglected when family is visiting. The good thing is with Covid they can't go on day trips so we'll all be here together, paying attention to me and my walks, my treats, my upcoming birthday, etc. every day. Yes!

Mom said to tell you she'll pop in and out to see all your photos every day but won't be very good about commenting on them. Oh, well, more time for me!! If you think I don't look pleasant in this pic. it's because I was tricked into getting on the bench instead of Mom throwing my toy for me.

Not happy about that!"

On 3/19.26 I had hip replacement surgery on my other other hip. Had the first surgery 1/30/26. This lil girl has been absolutely amazing. I was so worried she would be a problem for me, especially with my incision, not to mention me having very limited mobility and while resting for each procedure protecting my surgical side. She has not once come close to causing me any pain or discomfort. She has been patient with having to change up our routine of how she can join me when I am sitting on the couch. Once she is up on the couch with me, she is so gentle with moving in close to me to get in her position to settle down. At night as a safety precaution for myself, I secure her in her playpen and she settles in with no back talk :). In the morning she waits for me to get up and sits patiently until I get her to to unzip her playpen and let her out. I love how she just knows I am not at my best right now for her.

I'm guessing with that lil tongue of hers hanging out she is relaxed and feels safe right now snuggled up right next to me {Random Thought 3.24.26}

This is my mom with their dog who now lives with me. Chicca adapted to my parents routine and Senior lifestyle but also was their reason to take a walk in their neighborhood. Today is my mom's birthday so I wanted to post something to let her know although she may be gone, she is not forgotten. I miss her (along with my dad and both brothers terribly). The grief journey is not for the weak that's for sure. {Random Thought 8.23.25]

Isn't this a Face Any Mother Would Love?! Isn't she adorable?!

Wanda came to visit me over the holidays; she's kept me great company. She was trying to sleep, naturally, as Pugs like to do, then here I come along trying to get cute images of her for Flickr. She just stared and stared at me as I let the shutter roll.

She has this miniature "sleeping bag" that her owner had made for her. She crawls inside and drapes the top over herself for added warmth, and off to sleep she goes - gently snoring.

Now I ask you: isn't she just too damned adorable for words? Yes, she's a spoiled b***h.

There is still more work to be done. (Even during the trial), The killings continue. As a former law enforcement officer, now Social Worker, I saw early on I needed to redirect my energies with regards to social reform. I chose working in social welfare to do my part to be part of the solution instead of the problem

When she grows up she wants to be either a Psychologist or a Veterinarian.

The average adult dog sleeps 12 to 14 hours per day. However, The amount of sleep a dog needs depends on their age, breed, and activity level. Chicca was 9 years old in this picture. That's approximately 63 years in human years, so she is fast approaching what is considered a "Senior age dog". She naps alot.

Ouzo posing proudly in the middle of his stuffed toys which I arranged on the couch just for some pictures. He panicked for a few seconds as I was carrying them from one room to another, thinking I might take his subjects away, far from his toy kingdom.

More to come.

a piece of advice:

Train your dog to behave around children and teach children how to interact with dogs. {Random Thought 12.5.24}

This lil doggy here is still a work in progress.

Some of my favorite things to do with my pictures is writing a lil story, doing something artsy with them or even creating a poster. My plan is to print them and display them in a designated space in my home {Random Thought & Inspire, Be Inspired, Encourage & Motivate}

Ralph has perked up since the “Treat Lady “, Rose has returned for the summer. Long walks are back on the agenda, then back to Rose’s house for treats.

When Rose can’t find the high end dog treats or she runs out, she and Ralph head to the refrigerator to see what’s available. So far this year Ralph has had Elk meatloaf, Wild Boar, Ham, Turkey, Chicken, Goulash and Hot Dogs! What a lucky dog he is.

We had bloodwork done on Ralph last weekend to get a baseline of where he stands and to try to figure out why he has slowed down so much recently.

These are the results from Ralph's vet:

His blood work looks excellent. His kidney and liver values are all normal, there are no signs of anemia or infection. It certainly does not rule out cancer as there is no one particular blood value that looks for that; however, I do often see that animals with cancer will have either an anemia (low red blood cells) or elevated globulins (an inflammatory protein), of which he has neither. I see this as a very positive sign and makes me think that we may just be dealing with some severe arthritis.

Before we got the results back we had started to see improvement in Ralph as to energy and stamina. HE will now happily walk 1-2 miles each morning. My husband Peter started wondering if Ralph had actually been depressed and or in mourning. He had recently lost the one dog left on our road that would often walk with us in the morning. Ava had been diagnosed as diabetic before the pandemic hit and then she got cataracts which were going to be removed in Canada, but then the border closed. Then last fall Ava was diagnosed with lung cancer. She tagged along with us our walks all through the winter, but finally succumbed. She was only 8 or 9 and Ralph had known her since she was a puppy.

Rose lives in the state of Virginia and didn't come up last year due to the pandemic. Rose is 83 and her children did not want her traveling anywhere.

When Rose finally arrived Ralph started to perk up become more energized. He may have some arthritis, but he is on supplements and we are happy that he is on the move again.

Chicca, (the parentals Chihuahua) here she is one month shy of turning 4

My sister-in-law, Avona and her female Great Dane, Rosie, are inseparable. After a number of years with an incurable cough and discomfort, Avona was diagnosed with what they now know was a hereditary lung disease. Currently she is high up on the lung transplant list at Stanford Medical Center. Any prayers you can send her way would be greatly appreciated. Her spirits are strong and she and Rosie have plans for a full life together and perhaps a bigger car!

Some days she lays on my dads side of the bed and she almost look as if she is going to cry. It's heartbreaking they can't be with each other everyday right now. I know he misses her as well. I take her to the nursing home as often as I can to see him. She has gotten use to her visits to see him. As soon as I set her carrier on his bed she is anxious to get out and rush up to him to greet him with a wet nose. It does my heart good to see him smile as she is rushing up to him.

My dad calls this her "take my picture" pose.

Follow her on IG: ChiccaTheChihuahua. She will like that

Rosie loves to sleep in in the morning. It gets even better when the morning sun sweeps across the bed warming her through and through!
