Some buildings have a malevolent aura. It's almost as though, over the passing years, the walls have absorbed any trace of evil, storing it like a battery.
Standing in the remnants of the shattered French windows, he looked into the darkening living room, now scarred with graffiti, pock marked plaster, and splintered wood. He could feel it like a presence...the hairs on the nape of his neck rising, as though charged with static electricity. Like a black hole drawing everything towards it, the house had become a living thing. Sucking the light, life, and any joy into the abyss of its crumbling structure.
