Antelope Canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone due to flash flooding and other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways eroded away, deepening the corridors and smoothing hard edges to form characteristic "flowing" shapes. (May 2019)

Die berühmte gusseiserne Wendeltreppe im Jagdschloss Granitz auf der Insel Rügen. Leider war der Mittelturm gesperrt, es war nur die Sicht nach oben möglich.
The famous cast-iron spiral staircase in the Granitz hunting lodge on the island of Rügen.
Unfortunately the middle tower was closed, it was only possible to look up.
( This is a metal hook with wooden balls at the end of the parallel spirals )

Macro Mondays 24/10/17 theme Spiral
For this theme i decided to stay away from premade spirals and create my own.I had the idea for creating the spiral from carving wood with a sculpting chisel after hanging a new door and chiseling out the frame for the hinges. But trying to get a long and small enough spiral proved a little more difficult as it kept on breaking off.So I heated the wood in a microwave which dried it making the spiral stronger. The whole scene is about 1 inches and the spiral was about 1/2 inches. For lighting I used two speedlites, one on the camera with the bounce card pointing at the spiral and the other pointed at the side of the spiral and the background.
