The Peterskirche (English: St. Peter's Church) is a Baroque Roman Catholic parish church in Vienna, Austria. It was transferred in 1970 by the Archbishop of Vienna Franz Cardinal König to the priests of the Opus Dei.
The oldest church building (of which nothing remains today) dates back to the Early Middle Ages, and there is speculation that it could be the oldest church in Vienna (see Ruprechtskirche). That Roman church was built on the site of a Roman encampment.
This church was replaced with a Romanesque church with a nave and two aisles. It is believed to have been established by Charlemagne around 800, although there is no evidence supporting this view. At the outside of the church, there is a relief sculpture by R. Weyr consecrated to the founding of the church by Charlemagne. In any case, a church of Saint Peter in Vienna is first mentioned in 1137. Around the end of the 12th century, the church became part of the Schottenstift.
The mediaeval church had three altars, with an apse in the south instead of the normal eastern orientation. This unusual feature has triggered many discussions among experts, and it is suspected that the church was adapted from a previously secular building. The church was surrounded by shops, and a nearby building housed the Stadtguardia, a forerunner of the modern police. The old church burned down in 1661 and was given only makeshift repairs. The decision to build a new church was taken up with the arrival of the Fraternity of the Holy Trinity of which the emperor Leopold I was a member. The construction of the new Baroque church was begun around 1701 under Gabriele Montani, who was replaced by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt in 1703. The turreted dome was mainly designed by Matthias Steinl, who was also responsible for the interior decoration and the pews with cherubic heads. The frescoes were originally painted by the Italian Andrea Pozzo, whose paintings were removed after his death. As a result, in 1713, Johann Michael Rottmayr was able to start a completely new set. The fresco in the cupola represents the Coronation of Our Lady. On the triumphal arch one can see the coat of arms of emperor Leopold I. In the spandrels around the dome are portrayals of the four Evangelists and four Fathers of the Church, painted by the Viennese artist J.G. Schmidt. The same artist also painted the altarpiece in the side chapel of St. Michael.
The Baroque high altar was created by Antonio Galli Bibiena and his Bolognese workshop (construction) and Martino Altomonte (1657–1745) (altarpiece). The altarpiece portrays the Healing of the Lame by St. Peter and St. John in Jerusalem. The same artist also painted the altarpiece in the side chapel of the Holy Family. The small painting of the Immaculate Conception above the high altar is by the 19th century artist Kupelwieser. The shrines in the side chapels of the Holy Family and St. Michael contain martyrs from Roman catacombs, donated by Cardinal Kollonitz in 1733. They were clothed in this period and placed in the glass coffins.
The gilded pulpit is a work by Matthias Steinl (1726) having, on top of the canopy, a representation of the Holy Trinity. Opposite the pulpit there is a gold-and-silver representation of the Martyrdom of St. John of Nepomuk, sculpted by Lorenzo Mattielli. On top of it is a statue of The Mother of God.
Over the years, the paintings had become darker, and the interior began to take on a grey appearance. From 1998 to 2004, the church underwent a renovation, which returned the paintings to their original colouring and brightness.

REVEALED: Arjun Kapoor and Nikhil Advani join hands for a film
There have been many speculations about Arjun Kapoor’s forthcoming films besides the ones he has signed and now recent reports claim that he has signed yet another film. It is with none other than Nikkhil Advani who will be producing the film.
Arjun Kapoor is said to star in Nikkhil Advani’s next production which is said to be a romantic film with elements of comedy. Although the untitled film is said to have a tinge of humour, reportedly it has been revealed that it will be more in the drama space than that of a rom-com. The film in question will be directed by Saurabh Shukla. While the director has previously directed many small budget films, this will be his first big Bollywood venture.
Furthermore, talking about the rapport that Arjun Kapoor and Nikkhil Advani share, let us remind you that their bond goes back a long way since Kal Ho Naa Ho days. For the uninitiated, Arjun Kapoor had worked as an Assistant Director for the film which was directed by Nikkhil Advani. So ever since Arjun has become an actor, the two have been contemplating on collaborating with each other. In fact, the Kapoor boy was even approached to play the parallel lead opposite Saif Ali Khan in Baazaar but the deal fell through due to Arjun’s date issues.
The two are now not only excited about the project but it seems that Arjun Kapoor is quite impressed with the script. As for the leading lady, the details of casting and others are yet to be locked. The film is still in the final scripting stage after which the team will focus on the pre-production.

No place has generated so much speculation and wild theories as the standing stones of Stonehenge. After driving for miles through the rolling hills and plains of the English countryside the sight of this unusual structure makes people gasp. A walk around it only provokes more strange feelings. There's a sense that this is something very important. It taunts us with it's mystery. For over 5000 years it has stood silent vigil over the earth. It has been excavated, x-rayed, measured, and surveyed. Yet despite all that has been learned about its age and construction, its purpose still remains one of the great mysteries of the world.
Around 3500 BC the semi-nomadic peoples that populated the Salisbury Plain began to build the monument now known as Stonehenge. The original construction was a circular ditch and mound with 56 holes forming a ring around its perimeter. The first stone to be placed at the site was the Heel Stone. It was erected outside of a single entrance to the site. 200 years later 80 blocks of bluestone was transported from a quarry almost 200 miles away in the Prescelly Mountains. It is surmised that these blocks were transported by way of rafts along the Welsh coast and up local rivers, finally to be dragged overland to the site. These stones were erected forming two concentric circles.
At some point this construction was dismantled and work began on the final phase of the site. The bluestones were moved within the circle and the gigantic stones that give Stonehenge its distinctive look were installed. Some of these massive stones weigh as much as 26 tons! It remains a mystery how such huge stones could have been moved from the quarry at north Wiltshire by a supposedly primitive people.

Early English
While Saint Wilfrid's early history must be based on speculation by the 13th Century architectural evidence gives us a much clearer picture. Much of the Chancel and Nave that we see now were built during this period in what is now known as the Early English style. The lancet windows at the end of the chancel and the doorway with its 'hammer head' ornaments on the pillars are particular instances of this style. By now the church would have expanded to include a nave for the congregation to use.
The Fourteenth Century
It was during the 14th century that the church developed into the building that we see now. The chancel was extensively modified, in particular by the replacement of some of the original lancet windows in the south wall with larger windows, with two or three lights and tracery designed to display stained glass.
