Located within the awe-inspiring Lochaber Geopark in the Highlands, the deep valley and towering mountains of Glen Coe were carved out centuries ago by icy glaciers and volcanic explosions. Glen Coe is regarded as the home of Scottish mountaineering and is popular with hillwalkers and climbers.

There's nothing like rich volcanic soil for growing good veges, no exception these potatoes ("spuds" in local lingo) near Ohakune in the central north island of New Zealand. The mountain is Mt Ruapehu (2797m), an active volcano in the Tongariro National Park. Aside from being famous as Mordor in the Lord of the Rings films, the mountain is popular with locals and tourists alike for skiing, hiking and sightseeing (many visiting Lord of the Rings filming locations!).
Fall finally came in north Texas after Thanksgiving when leaves changed color suddenly. Late fall around here, I still have plants blooming in my yard.
Unfortunately, a storm in 2023 broke the tree and it was cut down.
A spectacular and distinctive flycatcher, the bright red Vermilion Flycatcher inhabits riparian areas and scrub in the southwestern United States and southward. It perches conspicuously, making periodic flights to nab insect prey.
The male Vermilion Flycatcher often seeks to initiate copulation by delivering a butterfly or other showy insect to the female.
The oldest recorded Vermillion Flycatcher was a male, and at least 4 years, 6 months old when he was shot in Mexico in 1972, the same country where he had been banded.

Waterfalls, walks and wonders in the Catlins
A wonderful world of waterfalls, sea caves, coastal cliffs, rocky headlands, the Catlins is nature lover and walker paradise with amazing places to explore.
The Catlins is blessed with some spectacular waterfalls. The most famous of these is Pūrākaunui Falls - a magnificent waterfall surrounded by bush that cascades 20 metres over three distinct tiers. The waterfall is a short walk from a side road off the main Owaka-Invercargill highway.
I had the opportunity to make few photos of this mandarin duck.
And during this shooting I could do one photo of him with a spectacular position.
This is a cropped view to better show the details on the duck and to enhance the duck movement. One of the photo that I like the most of this shooting.

High above Hjørundfjord at Sunnmore. The fjord runs like a giant canyon through mountainous alps. This is one of the world's most spectacular fjord, according to one of the visitors. In the end of the fjord you will find Øye. Øye has been a central location for the early tourist traffic to Norway since the end of the 1800s and first 1900s. This is a good starting point for mountain hikes. Here you will also find the famous hotel Union. The hotel stands in its former splendor and looks like it did when it opened in 1891. A few years ago the hotel got the award «One of the worlds 12 most exciting hotels».

Hope everyone enjoyed a terrific Xmas day.
This image was taken at the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba (World Heritage Site since 1984) in Andalucia, Spain. It is arguably one of the most significant monuments and one of the most amazing buildings in the western World. The complete evolution of the Omeyan style in Spain can be appreciated in its different sections, as well as the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles of the Christian part.
BTW, I wanted to take the opportunity to inform everyone that Flickr apparently no longer sends notifications to Yahoo mail accounts. I only receive notices regarding promotions by Flickr. As a result, it is impossible to track and reciprocate Faves. Sorry about that and happy holidays!
It was fully open this am, about 8" dia. There are a couple more coming out on the other side.
If this was any lower on the trunk I would not have been able to get this....I was flat out. I wish the 5DM3 had a tilt screen...
Despite an area being dry and somewhat barren, a spectacular sunset will always beautify public BLM lands in North America. This was shot from public land in Utah with the Great Salt Lake visible in the distance.

I started shooting tonight's sunset when it was "really pretty" and it kept getting redder and redder and was SO amazing! I wish I had been somewhere with no wires in sight! View On Black Wow...Explored at #106 Nov.15
