I went to the park early before work yesterday and the plants were being watered so I was lucky to get this sparkly shot.
Subalpine Fleabane, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
There were quite a few of these lovely light purple flowers dotting the meadows and lining the edges of Crystal Lake on Saturday. There was one right next to the rock I was sitting on at the lake so I thought I would be lazy and try take a photo of it without getting up from relaxing with my feet in the water! I was taking the shots from above and after the first couple of photos, noticed that having the rippling water in the background rather than the grass made for a rather pretty sparkle effect behind the flower.

I took this image of one of my favorite animals-a Burrowing Owl- just before sunset. The background was ugly and dark, so with a little dodging and burning just finished the job. Some would replace the background but I liked highlighting the portrait. What would you have done?
