Colas Rail 56078 makes a rare appearance seen at Spalding up sidings before working 6S98 Spalding to Aberdeen. The train was once again short formed due to issues at the King’s Lynn paper mill meaning some wagons had been left in the sidings loaded. Spalding 05/08/2020.

Ipswich - Lindsey tanks pass Spalding, just the three tanks. One of the few non-nuclear freights regularly to work with a short load. I guess since Freightliner use the fuel at Ipswich it remains economical for them to move their fuel around, rather than pay someone else to take it by road.

Ye Olde White Horse

Ye Olde White Horse public house is located on Churchgate and dates abck to the early 16th century.

Some houses at Spalding, I found the nearest semi-detached houses quite interesting. They share a roof but one neighbour has tiles, the other slates, etc. There's a good bricked-up gateway as well at the start of the row.

Living their life grazing algae in tropical north-west Australian intertidal rock pools, these blennies are extremely intricate up close. They perch on-top of hard corals and are extremely quick to zip away into rock cracks when they feel threatened.
Their sister species from the east coast of Australia is also known as the Lawnmower Blenny in the marine aquarium trade, for their tendencies to be included in reef tanks as a fish to help control algae.
Spalding Railway Station
Spalding railway station opened on October 17, 1848, as part of the Great Northern Railway's loop line connecting Peterborough, Boston, and Lincoln. It quickly became a major rail hub, featuring a Grade II listed Italianate station building designed by John Taylor. The station was a significant junction for lines to March, Bourne, and Sutton Bridge before shrinking in size following 20th-century line closures. It now only serves the Lincoln to Peterborough Line.
The Spalding Presbyterian Church stems ultimately from the Spalding Mission to the Nez Perce. It's now part of Nez Perce National Historical Park but, like San Antonio Missions and some other churches and synagogues in national parks, remains an active parish.
