The color "sonic blue" was introduced as Stratocaster color option in 1960. The color itself was four years old by then and like many other Fender colors of that era was initially car paint, this particular one was applied on Cadillacs from 1956.

In any case, the color has a lot of the magic from times that were quite different. The wars were over, there was a steady economic boom for at least two more decades to come, rock and roll just started to become really big... Of course, there were things not good at all, cold war, open discrimination, lobotomy, etc.. but this color had some promise towards a better future. Still has and we still need it.

did a shoot for a friend recently of his flawless Ford Lightning, these pictures don't even do justice to how great this thing looks in person! the entire set of shots were all done in manual mode, with a Yongnuo YN-560III flash of camera for a touch of light in the shadows...

An absolutely criminally underated guitar. A high end product made for only 2 years under the name 'Starfield' through the Ibanez company. Made in Japan at the much revered fujigen factory, Impeccable finish, Gotoh tuners, Graphite nut, solid alder body, practically flat radius rosewood fretboard so no fretting out on bends, super smooth unfinished neck for easy non-sticky fast playing, thin neck profile, high quality 2 point tremelo that doesn't go out of tune whether you pull it up a tone and a half or dive it so low the low E is nearly out of the nut! Very impressive Ibanez manufactured single coil pickups, (The American assembled versions that used the same MIJ bodies and necks had Seymour Duncan pickups for that slight edge on tone). This one is in Mint Green and in mint condition! Having spent most of it's life in it's gig bag under someones bed! Originally bought from Chandler Guitars in Kew. And all this for around £200! A new made in China Squier Affinity Stratocaster will cost you getting on for that and they are made of plywood, with appaling pickups, a tremelo that is just for show as it won't return to tune after the first pull and tuners that won't hold tune for very long. I have also heard that some have loose frets, intonation issues and actions so high you can get your fingers under the strings on the neck!

This was taken in front of a VFW building near Milwaukee. I was just driving by that day. So I stopped to take this pic. I think the tank is a M60A1 but Im not sure. There was no plaque in front of the tank to identify the type.

I wanted to have a bit of fun with taking the photo and photoshopping it similar to the Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World Poster.

I just saw the film last night and loved it. Must re-read the books.

Strobist info: Canon 430 EXII off camera, lit from the ground in front, also lit by a bedroom lamp from behind.

This is the front of the finished guitar.
