The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shipped solid rocket boosters from Thiokol Corporation in Corinne, Utah to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The 12-foot-wide, 150-ton segments were shipped by rail for 30 years. A clamshell-like cover, hinged at the top, protected the hardware throughout the journey. Fully loaded, a single segment car weighs in at 513,000 pounds.

I had a great time watching this young cooperative Red-tailed Hawk as it was hunting next to the river today. It struck this pose shortly after it had emerged from an unsuccessful attempt to snag something in the woods.
went to the quarry to see if the cubs are out already. haven't seen the youngsters but a very proud and healthy mum :-)
A view of the derelict Rhiw Bach slate quarry at Cwm Penmachno. The small pool on the right was frozen solid. It's hard to imagine when you look at images like this; and more importantly when you're at the locations, how awful the conditions would have been for the slate workers who were here over one hundred and fifty years ago. I count myself so lucky every time that these people led the way and gave us all a lifestyle that we've become accustomed to. The chimney was the part of the wheelhouse whilst the remains of the buildings on the right hand side were a large dressing shed.
