HMM.. so the macromonday group's theme for today, 9/3, is glass and this is my posting-- no dithering today (probably cause it has great refractions and that tiny lens flare ~grin~). it's in my BFF's garden.
btb, this looks even cooler in the full-screen mode
btb2, and it's not even all blue, janet :)

Nothing is too good for my guys here at the Hummingbird Ranch, but I think I've done enough of the shiny objects around the house, don't want you all to be going glassy-eyed.......

The Entrance Island Lighthouse is a manned light station. It was built in 1875 to guide ships into Nanaimo harbour from the Strait of Georgia, and is easily seen from the Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay ferry. The Tsawwassen to Duke Point ferry passes right by it.
Oceanographic research
The Entrance Island Lighthouse is one of 12 lighthouses part of the British Columbia Shore Station Oceanographic Program, collecting coastal water temperature and salinity measurements everyday since 1936. Their data show an increase in coastal water temperatures of 0.15 °C per decade. This trend is a result of anthropogenic climate change.

A rather cool umbrella that is solar powered. Perfect for those warm summer nights.
As well as being perfect for Rihanna's song from 2007 Umbrella.

(272/366) Found this ornament in my local garden centre.. Needless to say I didn't part with €34.99 for it. HSS & HEoM!
This little chap was hiding inside a glass crystal tree ornament, you know cats love hiding, concealing themselves don't they.
Well I noticed him and managed to get a macro image though the the crystals, on being spotted off he went to another hiding place I should image?
Well Naneki-neko are really considered very lucky especially in the Eastern countries like Japan and China, my particular one is solar powered so much better for the environment, it's very small it's head is only .... 0.75 inch unlike my other ones being much larger.
We do like having these little waving cats around the home, not as good as the real thing of course, but better than none at all.
I have kept many beautiful cats over the years and have really enjoyed their company, awesome pets! 💓

Naneki-neko got a waving paw,
Japanese Bobtail best you saw,
I'm the good lucky kat,
Good fortune make you fat,
See me in my secret spot,
Lucky you you'll cop the lot.

Another CreativeLive photo challenge, this time it is all about capturing sunstars. Now what I discovered when doing this challenge is that I really need to clean my camera sensor because I have a lot of sensor dust. I've never done it and am afraid I'll ruin it so I keep putting it off.
My light-painted light vanilla swirl image was highlighted on CreativeLive's instagram account yesterday, fun!
ODC - the wrong way (I guess this isn't the way solar power really works)
I can't get the cover photos to stay in the correct spot (that move tool doesn't work!) so just uploaded this one so that a avatar playing an instrument would be high enough and show.

This is a solar-powered lantern that is casting a light pattern on our house. I placed it here, on our deck, to protect it from the strong wind that was blowing then noticed the pattern it was making later that night.

Coming into Topeka recently for what I heard was a Main Generator fault, is the first ex-(oof) Montana Rail Link unit since BNSF's acquisition of the regional railroad on January 1st of this year.
This unit was built in June 2005, and finding photos outside of Montana has been nearly impossible, outside of its delivery run. Unfortunately, it not only lacks PTC, but also has a "Thunder Cab," so this is as close to a shot of it leading as you'll get of it. As of now, it's still a completely untouched, pure-MRL unit, but Lord only knows how long that'll last. Just imaging a Smurf-style patch...
Ever feel just a little out of place? I feel that way today... or maybe I should just try thinking optimistically.. ok, here goes.. in a white boring tube sock world, I am the fascinating bright stripey sock. How's that for silver lining?

For 121 Pictures in 2021 #90 "Solar powered", this is a garden tiki that has nice glowing eyes after dark. It uses a solar powered recharger for the battery. Unfortunately he sits in a rather bare area right now thanks to losing almost all of our plants in the Big Freeze. This is the last section to be refilled, and we're waiting until Fall to get rid of the gravel and lay down decent soil and mulch for a nicer garden.

As seen from the South Bank. I've photographed this bridge before, but not with this camera and lens (and it's always worth a shot).
