There were several of these death traps on public sidewalks. This part of series of disintegrating public infrastructure around Sofia. It can also apply to roads or really anything public. Private stuff, on the other hand, is very nicely kept up. Some of the worst were schools with boards over their windows and in complete disrepair.
Sofia (1,3 Mio. Einwohner) liegt in der Sofiaebene, einer weiten Hochebene im Westen Bulgariens, nahe der Grenze zu Serbien.
Die Stadt befindet sich am nördlichen Hang des 2290 m hohen Witoscha-Gebirges.
Sofia ist seit der Jungsteinzeit kontinuierlich besiedelt und damit eine der ältesten Siedlungen und Städte Europas!!!

My adorable dog got a cracker from a friend of mine and decided to dig it down "for later". /funny knack she's got that she digs with her nose.../ I am not kidding when I say that I gave her a bath only hours before this shot.
