This morning in Lisbon was very cold... so just decided to take a picture of my preferred bridge.. 17km to cross, finished to build in march 1998.. At the same time worked there 3.300 persons. Neat..
Taken from my kitchen window far to cold to go outside and very early in the morning...but wow it did look quite amazing..
Needles and pins, needles and pins.
It's strange, the things I can remember from my childhood, and the things I can't. I don't remember falling into the lake while ice skating, which my father told me I did, I don't remember punching a kid in the first grade, but I do remember telling my grade school teacher I was getting a dog that afternoon (I don't remember actually getting our dog), and I remember walking down a street in Cleveland, hand in hand with my aunt, balancing on the crash guards next to the roads, collecting berries from parks and yards in old tupperware containers, and swinging our connected hands, and chanting, "Needles and pins, needles and pins!" as we untwined our fingers to pass on either side of a pole, a person, a tree.
I think this is mostly just for me.

We went from the volcano into an ice cave.
Langjökull is the second largest ice cap in Iceland. The ice tunnel is 500m long. We stood 25mt below the surface and there was still 200mt of solid ice below us.
Yes it was sooooo very cold, I was ready to leave by the end and I had five layers on.

Poor Charlie and company. They are soo cold and hungry. It's been a rough winter so far! When the peanuts are gone, they raid the feeder!
I spent 20 minutes wandering around the yard today, so wintery... still snowing... and quite cold! That metal looks as cold as my fingers were fast becoming. Still, that fresh four inches of snow (and counting) covered tree limbs, the wood pile, the driveway, the road in the woods out to the main road... what else is a 'so-inclined' guy with a camera and a little time supposed to do?!
Not quite full-on winter wonderland... not quite... but not too far from it today! =)
It appears to have become a bit of a ritual, going to feed the seagulls on a sunday morning.

When the conditions are just right (that includes a very very cold air temperature) a very special kind of ice called rime forms on the surface of every object. Posts, houses, cars, trees, power lines... everything looks like it has been frosted in pure white sugar crystals. When the sun comes out and warms the rime enough, it starts to drop off the trees in little glittery bursts, sparkling as it falls through the air like fairy dust.
