The soccer fields are beyond the lake's edge, which is populated by Cattle Egrets, remarkably getting into the water (barely), which is unusual for Cattle Egrets. Harlingen, Texas. Notice the windmills in the background.

He has decided that this is his favorite outside ball ⚽️ and he carries it with with him all over the backyard. He really enjoys playing fetch with it, in which you kick the ball and he brings it back.

Throwing the ball in bounds. Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II and the OLYMPUS M.75-300mm F4.8-6.7 II lens.

Note that I shot at 75mm and could have gotten a much better and probably much sharper image with my 75mm f1.8 Oly prime. I had been in the habit of using the prime, however, given the rapid movement on the soccer field, that choice would not have worked well when the action was farther away. I'm still not unhappy with the results with this more compact and affordable zoom lens, although it's not the most suitable lens for sports photography. Live and learn, right?

The coolest soccer pitch I've ever seen âš˝

In 2017 during a trip through Norway I visited this special place and I just realized, that I never posted a photo of it...

I don't do much sports photography but here's an action shot I captured over the weekend as Hamden's U10 team (Under age 10) swept a four game tournament at the Colchester Receational Complex in Colchester, Connecticut. Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II with the Olympus 75-300mm F4.8-6.7 zoom lens.

Back in the day when I grew up we didn't play soccer. I doubt that I was even aware that such a game existed and nobody sold soccer balls anyway. With the world a lot closer today the influence of this game has spread to children and young adults here in the USA. I love it!

I called these American White Pelicans 'soccer pelicans' since saw them in the distance on my way to the KU/Air Force soccer match, a bit of my weird humor. :) I then stopped on my way home to take a few very quick photos from the roadside.

Opening day of the 2005 soccer season

While we were walking along our favorite bay-side path in Tiburon, CA, these two deer ran out on to the soccer field in the midst of a match and temporarily brought the game to a halt. Eventually, they got their bearings and bounded on out of there. They sure are a beautiful pair, aren't they?

These Cypress cones reminded me of soccer balls. We found these in the rolling hills behind the Pt. Cabrillo Headlands, October, 2024. The Cypress tree is quite the stalwart along the Pacific coast.

The BSF youth soccer team training at Ballerup Idrætsby. Both the team and the light were amazing. I managed to get some shots in focus... Marbækvej, Ballerup.
