on the side of a hill just out from a wooded area, this fox found a meal and a half probably for kits back at a den. I was caught unawares that the fox was anywhere nearby as I was watching a spotted fawn and mom down on the meadow below. The fox must have known I was there as I snapped a few images ...and I was so relieved to be using the 5DSR which makes almost no sound - but she did not flinch at all and went on with the business of securing the squirrel in her jaws before moving along. Always a sobering moment to see a life taken in nature

On the outskirts of the tiny town of Waihola on the South Island of New Zealand, I had to stop and get a shot of this sobering sign. It's no a quality shot, taken through the windscreen when I stopped too far back from the sign because there was no place to safely park.
The sun was playing hide-and-seek that Autumn day at the Château (De La Hulpe) wonderland…That is why half of my captures that day were a bit sober compared to the sunny ones…
I had just entered about 400 meters here, and at this point I looked back, in order to capture the serenity and Beauty that I share with you here . Happy , relaxed people around me…Sublime colours..I was about to enter a woodland site… My personal…secret path…

This was an unintentional environmental portrait style shot that I took while on an early morning trip up at Dunluce Castle at the weekend. I'd recently watched a youtube video featuring this castle and thought I might give it a bash. He looks like he's carrying the weight of the world!

Twenty four hours of rain is enough to drive any sober man crazy, but that didn't stop me from trying to stay sane. It was the kind of night where I lIke my coffee in a shot glass, and my whiskey in a coffee cup. There's no glory in this, but I'm not a man looking for accolades. Accolades are for dead men at their funerals. As long as the whiskey bites I know I'm on the green side of the grass. It's not enough to keep me dry, but it's enough to keep me wet in all the right places.

Parroquia de Alcoy | Santa Maria | Church interior | The Parish Church of Santa María de Alcoy is situated in the historic centre of Alcoy, in the Plaza de España. Neoclassical in style and built in the 18th century, its origins date back to the 13th century. The main façade is imposing and stands out for its neoclassical style with columns and pilasters, with two symmetrical bell towers flanking the façade. A large central rose window allows natural light to enter. There is a central dome over the transept, as well as side chapels between the buttresses. Its sober decoration is typical neoclassical, while its high altarpiece is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The church suffered major damage during the Spanish Civil War and had to be partially rebuilt. It is one of the most significant religious buildings in Alcoy and is still the centre of many religious and cultural celebrations in the city, including the famous Moors and Christians festivities.
Even in a wood landscape dancing of new life, one can find these places, where trees stand together as endangered species. If only mankind knew more about the value of trees.
Mankind is a big danger for trees, because trees are not understood. It is the economic value of wood that pushes the understanding out of focus and stimulates the ongoing destruction.
