Exhibition Review - Philipp Timischl:'2' Vilma Gold, London till 16 Apr 2016.

With Timischl, two outspoken agents square off to the illusion of zero sum. - Drenched Co.

Comment: "Philip Timischl's '2' wonderfully betrays his need for binaries and various dualities even if he is only interested in the stuff that goes on between certain opposites. To me, Timischl's anti-theft gate keepers build vibrating boundaries and trigger-happy force fields around them. These affect you with a certain static that brings a jitter to meaning and form. Only clarity resides in the poles. All else, including the walls and images are behaving like thieves, all jittery and unpredictable. How very clever!" - Raj

Exhibition Review - Hannah Levy and Michael Simpson:'Shall we sit, stand or kneel?' Marlborough Chelsea, New York till 3rd Dec 2016.

“Denied of tiresome fixations,

it bends my body into incongruous places."

- Drenched Co.

Comment: "The emptiness in Simpson's paintings and Levy's chromed metal and silicone (recently escaped from their “design purgatory”) made me think of my local surgery's consultation rooms. And aptly enough both artists disassemble contexts in search of powers in their wonted seats, laying them bare through slick bits of archaeology. Being apparently free from bondage and semantic connections, I felt a strange familiarity with these paintings and sculptures, due perhaps to their new potentials but also (funnily enough) to their inviolable relations to the body. Brilliant!" - JayZee

Exhibition Review - Gary Simmons:'Post No Bills' Simon Lee Gallery, London till 20th Feb 2016.

With Gary, I rub the hardness in history books into the tatter of all yesterdays.- Drenched Co.

Comment: "What connects the present to the past? For Gary, the answer lies in a ghosting of sorts - a presence that marks the now, one that is there but not always visible, fraying at the edges but tenaciously present, leaving a fragmented trail of deep set prejudices. In this show Gary wants you to experience this ephemeral ghosting of place, people and objects in and around the exhibits that seems to have traveled from various performance venues. He wants you to live these erstwhile performances and spaces through the clues he leaves for you. And here, the frayed edges of his posters and sculptures might even converse with you in tones of politics and race. I loved his chalkboard paintings best..."- FaSa

"The hardest thing is to surround it, to fix its limit where it fades into the penumbra along its edge. To choose it from among the others, to separate it from the light that all shadows secretly, dangerously, breathe." - Drenched Co

-From Julio Cortázar, ‘To Dress a Shadow’, in Around the Day in Eighty Worlds.

Comment: "For this exhibition I had to revisit the definition of architecture. Where lies its shores and what lays claim to its sovereign territories? Consider suggestions of architecture from sculpture and vice versa. I started looking for pieces within the show that did not fit.. that for which it "will repulse the gesture that seeks to crown it with a long blonde wig.." How for instance does Sol LeWitt’s biographical cut-outs allude to architecture? And even more fascinating was for me the complicity of light and shadows in architecture, in photography and in this exhibition. Awesome! " - JayZee

Exhibition Review - Tyra Tingleff: 'Grinding your teeth to keep out the wind' The Sunday Painter, London till 14th May 2016.

Behind Tyra's tendrils of pauses, silent ellipses.- Drenched Co.

Comment: "I first came across Tyra's paintings at the 2013 RCA graduation show and now as before, Tyra continues to make rare, truly abstract paintings that surprise you with her grounding and dissolving play with paint. She pushes her language beyond itself, constantly giving out possibilities into a void and stroke over stroke, layer over layer a world is disclosed to our consciousness. Such is her play with language... and to our amazement, she keeps doing it, again and again. I love all of Tyra's paintings but I am especially fond of 'When I wear a swimsuit I just don’t swim'" - Raj

Exhibition Review - Dusadee Huntrakul:'To Dance Is To Be Everywhere' Chan + Hori Contemporary, Singapore till 8th October 2017.

“A turn of the line, like an asymptote, may approach an indent in time."- Drenched Co.

Notes: "Consider the Neck. A narrow connector whose shape and surface may evoke a season, a landscape or an architectural detail. Think of the Neck, pale, scented, a recipient of a thousand kisses or a long slender snake that may suddenly slither up a wall dragging the whole body. Think of its gestural throwing lines, its dynamic volumes and the way its lies about the backbone. Think of the Neck when looking at Dusadee Huntrakul's art and his interest in meanings transfered through objects, gestures and forms. In this exhibition, the Neck is the creamy beacon that invites contemplation through the ages, an albatross full of metaphors slung around it, clinging on to an unwritten head and a trace of meaningness. Dusadee once made a film titled 'My Armpit's my Beer', but I am convinced he is a neck man. Fabulous " - Raj

Exhibition Review - Group show:'people sometimes, die' Edel Assanti, London till 20th Feb 2016.

With curator Hlebo, incoherence becomes the site of ruptured wounds, stuck in an overwhelmingly white space. - Drenched Co.

Comment: " In this show, exploring mainly the various facets and symptoms of oppression in America, I encountered a bunch of dizzyingly busy young artists, (guns blazing on all media fronts), involved in the art and politics of ‘the post’. It was all a little unavailable but the questions it attempts to ask are compelling - what is your complicity in the oppression of the marginalised? how much has your humanity diminished as you oppress and are oppressed? Great premise for a great show. If only it wasn't trying so hard to be all 'post'. " - JayZee

Exhibition Review - Jane Bustin:'Rehearsal' Copperfield, London till 20th May 2016.

In everything now, orange satin in small doses,

the reedy winds of soar and spin

in exhausted concentration. - Drenched Co.

Comment: "Ms Bustin is first a painter. In her compositional arrays, she holds this as a constant while varying her medium. This she does perhaps as an experiment to explore media-specific valence or even to leave nothing to chance in an effort to achieve resonance through emergent materiality. To me, Ms Bustin's paintings are a glass harp of sorts- an echo chamber for the text that resides in and around her work, trying to strike the perfect resonant tune to carry beyond text and materials. Fabulous indeed! " - FaSa

Prem's potential joys of yesterday

end up

a shuttered cruising maze of today. - Drenched Co

Comment: "'BUMP' and 'Night Flies', the two previous shows of Prem Sahib's are about night clubbing and the morning after, bodiless and incredibly powerful. 'End Up' is less to me about the closing down of clubs as it is their turning into secret saunas that bring succour and much else, unflashly tucked away in discreet street corners far from judging eyes. Your architectural pressure points

and the pleated silk shadows you cast

upon my seductive forms and dissonant spaces.- Drenched Co

Comment: "How does one speak of the sex of a painting or a sculpture? For this is what I see in this exhibition. I see envy in the strained curves of Vance's twisting forms - the stiffened hips to prevent them from swaying, the lifted posture from hips to shoulders, the florid over compensation and the insecure under definition. All in the face of the androgynous, strapping, broad shouldered, baritone-voiced sculptures of Simpson, cold, foreign and separate. But oh, what a beautiful couple they make!" - JayZee

Yngve's alien-encounter is a version

of the total angle that eyed me

Comment: "In this exhibition, I believe Yngve is still concerned with ideas about how our relationship to objects is constantly being undermined and made needlessly complex through human agency. My 'scooter' is alien to me, however much I need and depend on it. Exhibition Review - Ariana Reines & Oscar Tuazon:'PUBIC SPACE' Stuart Shave/ Modern Art, London till 9th April 2016.

Is that a poem I see built into an erection,

or an erection written into a poem? - Drenched Co.

Comment: "In 'Pubic Space', I believe Ms Reines is once again commenting on f**king and modern media. Her written word, it seems, is reunited with its erstwhile miraculous origins and magical powers, especially in this delinquent modern age of word processors and the internet. Ms Reines' entropic text, creased and crumpled into its primitive medium, is here proffered as an offering of body and flesh that is to be eaten and drunk and consumed and ravaged by Tuazon's erect, fertile, entropic gods. The words can be best fully absorbed in just this manner. I loved them all again and again." - FaSa

“There, all snarled up in a mesh,

smothering and sowing,

- an invoking."

- Drenched Co.

Comment: "To me this exhibition is about matrices i.e. the environments or materials within which something develops, is cast or shaped. Here, there is everywhere evidence, of the Great Goddess, a medium between nature and humanity, guiding not the shaping of matter, but its resurrection. And these matrices, these 'situations', are especially embedded in Nancy Holt's multiplicity of images, in Cathy Haynes' forest of words and months, in Hannah Lees' tablets and altarpiece, in Zoë Paul's staging and Claire Potter's script. Subtle and fabulous. " - JayZee

Exhibition Review - John Hoyland: 'Power Stations Paintings 1964 –1982' Newport Street Gallery, London till April 3rd 2016.

Hoyland's radio is on active,

pulsating an irradiated hue,

for a gang of atomic heads,

of decaying lead,

in nuclear blue.

- Drenched Co

Comment: " Hoyland's exhibition was like witnessing leaking power cells or tubs of nuclear waste seeping into everything. There was a pulsating feel to them -radioactive in a gallery that is unbearably gorgeous. This is the new Damien Hirst gallery with its inaugural exhibition. "- FaSa

Exhibition Review - Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva: 'An Intimate Gaze', Danielle Arnaud, London till 11th Feb 2017.

“Elpida is reaching in, searching,

takes apart landscapes,

lifts open lush horizons,

upends a purse, a stomach, a body,

watching it flame into momentary blossoms,

a memory of breath and life burning flesh into a broken silence,

a silence of the body used confounded by its use,

washed in odors and secrets of

a river that swallows all things."- Drenched Co.

With Hyllemose, I enter a land

measured out in coloured spandex

- hex code #do115. - Drenched Co

Comment: "In this show, I walked into a landscape (its title made me look for one) and I saw a clever artist taking the children's game of playing dress-up and extending it into a metaphor or a reflection of her environment and as a commentary on the making and showing of art today. The lycra covers are an integral part of Hyllemose's art and I secretly wondered if she was also commenting on how our landscapes need the kind of tender nursing and care showered upon dolls around the world." - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Sarah Woodfine:'We can hardly imagine how much the angels love the truly chaste' Danielle Arnaud, London till 13th Dec 2015.

Sarah plots barbed rhythms of my nightmares with her chaste pen. - Drenched Co

Comment: "I saw Sarah's drawings/sculptures as 'ECG' plots, on paper drums, of the conflicted, messy multi-dimensional people that we are with our crowns of insecurities and seething hissy rages, roping us away from our one-dimensional purity that we often fake for love and acceptance. Sarah's chaste controlled drawings are so very at odds with this messy sprawl. I loved 'When all the birds are in the sky' most." - FaSa

Lesley grips me by the edges. - Drenched Co

Comment: "The elegantly poised works of Lesley Foxcroft are a study of borders and limits and to me they hold a certain palpable tension, prepared for action, braced for something, the balance in poise having just passed the point of equilibrium. Ms Foxcroft is working in the springy walls of finity, empowered by sight, infected by light, defines reality and makes for good neighbours with our dreams and imagination. " - FaSa.

Exhibition Review - Mat Chivers:'Harmonic Distortion', PM/AM, London till 16th April 2017.

“Art's new technology is a broken technology."- Drenched Co.

From Svetlana Boym's Off-Modern Manifesto.

Comment: "Mat Chivers' encounters with machines surprises us. He is an accomplished conductor of his own fallibility. Engaging with information is an interminable process and translation is an impossibility. But Mat is persistent and his margin of error is his margin of freedom to create surprising art, to allow us an inroad into information, a way to digest it, inhabit it and make meaning from it. But these 'models' of 'clouds' are more - they are receptacles of dreams and longings and mysteries, ruins of some alternative history out of a universe of alternative outcomes, engaging with history in a way to place it in a new motion, open to the present. Fabulous. I liked the Shibari inspired performance most." - Raj

Exhibition Review - Helene Appel,Stuart Cumberland, Jack Lavender, Hannah Lees, Charles Mayton, Puppies Puppies, Oliver Sutherland, Hayley Tompkins and Holly White:'Is this living?' The Approach, London till 7th Feb 2016.

At The Approach, I encountered each work "as an unexpected object, a Pandora's box...produced and consumed with a peculiar curiosity, a kind of sacred relish." - Drenched Co.

( Excerpt from Roland Barthes' 'Writing Degree Zero)

Comment: "I entered this exhibition to a site of an explosion, emanating from Lavender's spent campfire, from which scattered the poetic potentialities of the word 'consumption'. And how fresh and messy a take! Is life worth living when colonised by ideas of production and consumption? Perhaps the exhibition also explores an oblique view on how food comes to rescue us from the demands of efficiency and profit. The activities of producing and consuming food shape us, our relationships and places care before commerce. See, for instance, champagne celebrations, communal campsites, social texture of kitchens etc. Or am I reaching?" - FaSa

Sluiced against the world, we offer it in perfect resolution. - Drenched Co.

Comment: "To me Cervera, Hruskova and Marie go beyond boundaries that gives us divergence and difference and entangle themselves with the dark spaces, the void in things. Exhibition Review - Jan Pleitner:'Water for the Tribe' Kerlin Gallery, Dublin till 12th March 2016.

Charge your heart with paint

and rush its imprint through a

dragnet of emotions. - Drenched Co.

Comment: "Mr Pletiner's young star is on the rise. I first saw his work in 2014, and now, as then, Pleitner's lines, his gesture, his pallete, reminds me of De Kooning's sinewy abstractions (see for instance Women 1 (1952)), highly energetic, all-action, all expression. With Pleitner I see a barren landscape of muscle and sinew, coiled, taut and tense, rigid and strained beneath the skin, torn down and rebuild in singular expiration of energy. You get involved with this energy, his emotions, his honest instinctual out-pour. Yet you wonder how much of it is honest, how much is performed emotion. Or does it matter?" - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Stephen Dwoskin at Vilma Gold, London till 19th Dec 2015.

With Dwoskin, my gaze is never dishonest in its horror. - Drenched Co

Comment: "Watching Dwoskin's films, I am rooted when I can't wait to escape. 'Girl' (1971) shames me for my sadistic voyeurism. I don't want to be seen and exposed. Yet this is what Dwoskin does to me. I felt it again in his masterpiece 'Behindert' (1974). It is this 'fourth look', present in a lot of Dwoskin's first person narratives where his subjective camera limits the vision in ways that horror may hide in its blindspots. I can't go back! With Soda, I am 404ing

Comment: "Molly shows us what it is like to give in to objecthood, to give in to a desire to become a thing, without particularity, without emotion. Molly has fallen for the pixel but does Molly portray a kind of contractual giving in, an autonomous act, or is her art about something even more radical? If it is the latter, could she also be engaging with her pink, in an optimism for the object to be liberated again, to become a part of the act of transformation? " - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Amelie von Wulffen:'The misjudged Bimpfi', Studio Voltaire, London till 2nd April 2017.

“The past stealing ballast of this light

that still shines through to places unknown,

ruins that a nation carries in its heart,

putting more shadow in the shadows,

shattering a mirror to stare at ghosts."- Drenched Co.

Comment: "There are shadows in Amelie's work, dark clouds that spread through her paintings, overcoming them, rising as though from some scene of an unatoned crime, filled with ghosts and spectres that do not die their own death. As a 'Nachgeborenen', perhaps Amelie is introducing us to the impossibility of mourning, leaving us with bottles of ether and somewhere in a place between consciousness and unconsciousness, filled with immovable obstacles to repentance and salvation. Or perhaps she is telling us about the traumatising loss of innocence and something that may inaugurate the work of mourning. Perhaps Amelie is suggesting this through the example of Mann's hero in Doktor Faustus, by dropping harmony and counterpoint and a legacy that is univocal and given, and assembling her dark montages of memories in the rhythm of various painterly traditions, always equally fluid and disjointed. Either that or Amelie is telling us that art is incurably sick and impotent against the monsters in us, foretelling perhaps a dark coming. I found her installation/sculpture especially interesting and revealing." - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Golnaz Fathi, Jenny Holzer, Sayaka Ishizuka, Qian Jiahua, Ezzam Rahman, Melati Suryodarmo, Tao Hui, and Zen Teh: 'In Silence' Pearl Lam gallery, Singapore till 4th September 2016.

“Shipwrecked on silence,

seas tugging between us,

we hurl voices into distance,

waiting to hear our names."

- Drenched Co.

Comment: "Nyepi, Bali's "Day of Silence", catches on worldwide as 8 artists from across the globe come together to contemplate life beyond and within silence. Alone and separate, we leave our silences for the raging torrents of life, interacting with the world around us, willing a presence as we bruise and are bruised, before we turn once again to silence, desperately heavy and human. The cryptic inflected voices of Holzer, Fathi's motions of prayer, Rahman's intensely personal pleats and folds and Ishizuka's rice melodies especially stir in me memories of that unfamiliar sensation of silence, when the roar of life cedes and you can hear yourself think again. Fabulous." - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Jeff Elrod at Simon Lee Gallery, London till 21st October 2017.

“With Sparagmos and Synecdoche, Elrod offers up a wreckage in a mediated glow, found off kilter."- Drenched Co.

Notes: "I loved Blade Runner 2049. Did you? Watch it and then go take a spin at Simon Lee's Jeff Elrod exhibition. You'll sense the buzz, the glow and simulated warmth of 'computer monitors' and you'll feel like you have been shoved sideways into time. You will struggle with the illusory space of his increasingly opaque mediated 'screens' and you might draw the parallels between the movie and his paintings. Elrod uses ideas behind Science Fiction to make new thinking possible and communicable and his is more than a complex Instragram filter. Fabulous! " - FaSa

Here forests are gorgeous windmills of mechanical silence. There is sound like thunder, the sound of electricity, tripping into a melodious stand still. Walls of electricity turn into rendered communal drawings and flowers bloom in the seams of a slow current. Four artists, like clots in the simultaneous, have tweaked the knobs and aligned with a 100 year old prediction to insist on a quiet contemplation with things that make meaning. Clare Mitten is awesome!" - JayZee

Exhibition Review - Anne Neukamp:'The Familiar Object' Marlborough Contemporary, New York till 24th June 2017.

“Take off your Anschauung for a second,

i need to unlock you

a fading charm for our craven misgivings."- Drenched Co.

Notes: "Sometimes, I am in my day and an image appears in my mind. Is that the same for you too? It is usually just a shape I have seen. Floating. Untethered. No emotions. No immediate relevance to what I am doing or thinking. I might be cleaning my brushes or stepping into the shower and there it is. A recent one was the odd reflection off a spoon sitting in a bowl of half-eaten cereal my daughter had abandoned rushing to get out of the door to school. There was no bowl, no table, no daughter, just a spoon and the odd way it caught the light. Why that spoon? No idea. Occasionally the image will come nested in other things or half of some things that interfere with it. Odd milieu of colors and light and objects that says nothing and signify little. I sometime wonder if this odd imagery will be the last thing I see. A flash of impending uselessness of things catching my last breath. I wonder if Neukamp hasn't somehow found a way to capture it." - Raj

Exhibition Review - Henrik Eiben:'Condo' Bartha Contemporary London till 19th Dec 2015.

In Condo, I see chevrons

pressed into potential,

while Eiben crackles

in wild-fire creases,

flaring the moment

I glance away.- Drenched Co

Comment: "When I look at Henrik's work, I don't see static art. I see origami chevrons creased into movement. Past and future choices made by the artist keep me in suspense by the balance in the amount of wall inside and outside of the work- a constantly changing captivating mystery. Henrik's invisible hand makes scintillating choices, never exhausting possibilities, its structure seemingly purified of all reference." - FaSa.

With Darling, rote fare got straight broken. - Drenched Co.

Comment: "Jesse Darling raids apocalyptic tips for a rubble of upset and rages anthropomorphic violence together in prosthesis and a serious business is done. There, in its hurt lies the put-out eye of indifference and the ruptured folly of abbreviation. I loved Darling's writing and poetry best.." - JayZee

Exhibition Review - Bonnie Camplin, Camden Arts Centre, London till 15th Jan 2017.

“Bonnie's esoterica of vibrating lines

caught in the curvature of receding minds."- Drenched Co.

Comment: "An outline for a story: Artist spends hundreds of hours over many years swimming in the vast and ancient eddies of existence, hoping to discover mystic correspondences from the other side. Nothing happens. The artist builds installations to open people's minds by showing them what she does everyday. She becomes successful perhaps because the Outside is no longer, usurped by modernity's dissolving boundaries. The Inside (the inner life) is the new frontier in art. Artist continues to use oracular devices in the form of diagrams to open her mind. One day, a leak appears in her mind, one that connects her to the 'other' side. The vast unknown has returned her call and in the same shapes and forms she had been transmitting to it for years. The artist frantically scribbles her thoughts down, relieved and breath-taken at the same time. She compiles her work and exhibits it. Each drawing, each diagram a message from the unknown and proof of its existence. Work of enormous importance to her and mankind in general. Unfortunately, no one can relate. People shun it. Art critics write it off. We are simply not ready." - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Christina Mackie, Richard Gasper, Kira Freije, Penny Andrea: 'God's Finger', Kinman gallery, London till 20th Jan 2017.

“Act V - Putinescence"- Drenched Co.

Comment: "Imagine a bunch of artists finding the lost fifth and final act of Arthur Miller's 'The Crucible'. The one that is rumored to hint at the various hues of human forgetfulness and the fury of a returning orange venus. Imagine that the artists have decided to get in on the act. The end of God's finger, 20th Jan 2017, will return America to its human sacrifices, to the mood and atmosphere of its Salem witch hunts and McCartyism. Gasper fires the plot by bringing piles of dirt into the gallery, breaking into the landscapes that once expressed the qualities of moral grandeur and human destiny (the dirt is from Henry Moore Estates). Mackie's colors, used as a metaphor for knowledge, hint at the trouble many are having discerning facts buried in layers of dirt. Freije’s sculpture is at once the unfolding comedy that is the youth left with a sinking ship, and an irreverent orange emperor, source of all sickness. Andrea finally provides the chatter and melancholia that accompanies this train wreck. It is, by all accounts, a dark foretelling." - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Rob Pruitt:' Therapy Paintings' Massimo De Carlo, London till 30th Jan 2016.

Pruitt's ink scores,

dipped in feline panic,

rub ancient bruises into bloom

that bleed together

into a strip-tease.- Drenched Co

Comment: "Through his doodles, Mr Pruitt keeps a mental block in his head occupied, which lets him talk freely about himself during therapy. And this block, from the nature of Pruitt's drawings, must be guided by some incarnation of a maligned cat or panda, trying to scratch its way in or out of Pruitt's head. Here, I believe, Pruitt is once again ridiculing and celebrating through his pretty exhibitions with his hatchet buried squarely where his art lives. I loved the cats best! " - FaSa

who scours the depths of his rubbish tip

Exhibition Review - Ryan Mosley:'Anatomy and the Wall' Alison Jacques Gallery, London till 3rd Mar 2016.

Ryan's big hair is as vital to our entry into his mythology as it is to our return. - Drenched Co.

Comment: " I first saw Ryan's work in Berlin in 2012, and to me, then, as now, Ryan's visual ballads play "a tune beyond us, yet ourselves" ( see the poem "The Man with the Blue Guitar" by Wallace Stevens). Ryan's tie-dye aesthetics and hirsute cast decreates reality and argues for another perspective made possible through his paint, while suggesting that when the crust of shape has been destroyed, you are yourself again. Through his process poetic, however abstruse his flights, and given the extraordinary prominence of the body (and hair) in his work, we always return home to the body and its anatomy whilst we try in vain to wall out the swelling, trippy abstract." - Raj

Exhibition Review - Finbar Ward: 'In Absence' FOLD, London till 7th May 2016.

It moved, I swear,

with serious mouths,

endorsing codes,

plotting betrayal. - Drenched Co.

Comment: "Finbar's work reminds me of the French artist Brig Laugier's reconstructions of the book as object. I see parallels with Ms Laugier's examination of the media specific term 'book' in the context of Roland Barthes essay "From Work to Text". In a time when few subscribe to a primacy of the medium, Finbar's art questions the limits of painting and the movement away from it towards the ubiquitous 'works of art' while sticking obstinately to his chosen language. I loved how he gave the gallery polygonal reptilian scales.." - Raj

Exhibition Review - Toby Ziegler:'Post-Human Paradise' Simon Lee Gallery, London till 12th Nov 2016.

“With Ziegler, I wrestle the reins of my gaze,

from the humming wires of my canvas."

- Drenched Co.

Comment: "Much of the content in Ziegler's work is located in his process, a parallel of which can be found in the lossy compression and decompression of images in today's digital communication technologies. Ziegler's compression and flattening, while abandoning illusion, is enriched by allusion. But what is more interesting is how Ziegler has become this embodiment of Villem Flusser's post human, who instead of being a mere function of his different 'apparatuses', reveals their rule of play and the programmatic worldview of absurd coincidence. Now to become the masters of these out-of-body entities and play with the programmes that play with us!" - FaSa

Exhibition Review - Gili Tal at Vilma Gold, London till 19th Dec 2015.

In an in-between moment, on the cusp of motion,

the capital brings on its charm and instrument,

I wanted to say, "Sir, where is Ms Tal at?

Which section, box or shelf would I find me?" - Drenched Co

Comment: "Muji expressionism indeed (I am not the first to use this description)- it is a challenge to get to know Ms Tal. And with her no-brand art, I think she wants to tell you that you are in the 'waiting rooms' of life and 'the' capital is throwing fridge full of brands at you and into every aspect of your life at every moment. Even the plants are in cahoots with it - waving you in like a Maneki-neko. Kewl!" - JayZee.

Exhibition Review - Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Isa Genzken, Robert Gober, Eva Hesse, Roni Horn, Gordon Matta-Clark, Fausto Melotti and Richard Serra :'Maisons Fragiles' Hauser & Wirth, London till 6th Feb 2016.

At 'Maisons Fragiles', I saw our flawed inner theatres entangled inextricably with the psychic economies of things - Drenched Co.

Comment: " I walked into this show and saw the works of nine renown alchemists and their erstwhile struggles with matter. I saw the intertwining of the trajectories of their lives with their chosen materials and the combining of flows in anticipation of what might emerge. And I believe if there is vulnerability in these works, it lies in their inflated husbandry, in a desire to balance some kind of budget, human or otherwise. But in this vulnerbility, in this defencelessness, lies the strive that gives them their strength and makes them great. I loved loved Roni Horn's 'Two Pink Tons (2008)'." - Raj

I reach through Thomas to an empty space

that twists and moves

and makes patterns I can't get to,

a world safe within its creases. - Drenched Co

Comment: "In my opinion, Demand is interested in the crease patterns (CP) of our past- CPs in the wrappers of salient events. His origami skills helps him to recreate wrappers from pictures (complete with marks of tape) to take amazing pictures of these CPs. Now though, he has no event, just CPs of a potential event. And he takes pictures of this and makes us imagine the event thus wonderfully walking the fine line between reality, photographic reality and fiction. Fabulous!" - FaSa.

Exhibition Review - Chris Agnew:'Dither' Kristin Hjellegjerde, London till 6th Feb 2016.

Chris precisely defaces his defaced subject-matter. - Drenched Co.

Comment: "At his show, it struck me that Chris is an iconographer whose subject is iconology -as in he makes art that uses the material, techniques and methods employed by iconographers but he paints (or doesn't) about the problems inherent in identification, description and interpretation. Chris, who is interested in the bigger questions of truth and belief, subverts 'image-writing' by subverting his subjects, his methods and even tries to do that which is rationally impossible - finish a painting that is meant to be unfinished. Chris' struggles with contradictions and his amazing technical prowess makes his work fascinating. I, though, loved 'The mighty grip of fate' best." - FaSa
