I have been trying to photograph the snowflakes flowering in my garden. On Monday I decided to photograph a group of three but didn't like the composition. Tuesday I tried again with the same three flowers and tilted the camera more to give me a new composition, I got some images I liked but I still wasn't happy. This morning I had one more attempt and finally settled on this image.

We are getting our first big snowstorm of the winter so I tried my hand at snowflake macro photography, again. I followed this one down from the sky and as soon as it landed it started to melt.
Sorry for the absence from Flickr. I caught covid over the holidays and now we are having lingering health issues with certain family members.
Canon EOS R5, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM + 3 Kenko extension tubes, 3 images focus stacked.

Winter is almost over in the Jura Mountains. According to the previsions, there will be only sun shining during the following week. So, It's time to post the last wintery pictures and to start considering spring !
I don't know what you think about that, but for me, it's hard to get satisfactory pictures of nature during this transition period between winter and spring (it's the same between fall and winter) : everything is so ... brown-grey. There's no colors, no leafs, no life ... It's just time to wait, or to do other kind of photography like portraits ...
This picture (like the last one) was taken during a perfect snowing day : the conditions for macro snowflakes were just perfect : big translucid dendrites everywhere, no wind, a good covered sky with a diffused light ... I just had to shoot, the weather was doing all the job ;) !
This is a single shot. Probably the last of this year (unless late seasonal snow) ...
Here again, I used the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 macro and kenko extension tubes.

Wild rabbit, Snowflake, could be using its nose to roll up
snowballs to toss at those bossy squirrels
The evening of January 9, 2023, when the squirrels and wild rabbits had retreated back to the woodlands something
unexpected happened
Had a low light lamp on in far side of living room when
something was near the window trying to look in
It was dark but looked like a deer so ducked down and
found a place to look out and see at least six
wild deer close to back of my house and near birdfeeder
looking for anything to nibble on
It was amazing so today a friend's husband had a bale
of hay and have it set out so hope they return for
something to nibble on
Wish they'd have come in afternoon to try and get photos however they'd never come out of the woods when there is light this time of year
