No snow here. It is too warm. Something to do with global warming. However, we will create our own snow ;-)

I have been trying to photograph the snowflakes flowering in my garden. On Monday I decided to photograph a group of three but didn't like the composition. Tuesday I tried again with the same three flowers and tilted the camera more to give me a new composition, I got some images I liked but I still wasn't happy. This morning I had one more attempt and finally settled on this image.
I never eat December snowflakes. I always wait until January. - Lucy Van Pelt
We are getting our first big snowstorm of the winter so I tried my hand at snowflake macro photography, again. I followed this one down from the sky and as soon as it landed it started to melt.
Sorry for the absence from Flickr. I caught covid over the holidays and now we are having lingering health issues with certain family members.
Canon EOS R5, EF100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM + 3 Kenko extension tubes, 3 images focus stacked.

There are all kinds of snowflakes, also in the Origami-world. This one is 3D ;-)
I folded it from a square piece of bible-paper, 16x16cm. Final size 7cm (from point to point).
Model: origami Snowflake

Winter is almost over in the Jura Mountains. According to the previsions, there will be only sun shining during the following week. So, It's time to post the last wintery pictures and to start considering spring !
I don't know what you think about that, but for me, it's hard to get satisfactory pictures of nature during this transition period between winter and spring (it's the same between fall and winter) : everything is so ... brown-grey. There's no colors, no leafs, no life ... It's just time to wait, or to do other kind of photography like portraits ...
This picture (like the last one) was taken during a perfect snowing day : the conditions for macro snowflakes were just perfect : big translucid dendrites everywhere, no wind, a good covered sky with a diffused light ... I just had to shoot, the weather was doing all the job ;) !
This is a single shot. Probably the last of this year (unless late seasonal snow) ...
Here again, I used the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 macro and kenko extension tubes.
This morning snowflakes began to fall. They are so incredible and delicate. This one is tiny! According to the Guinness Book of World Records the largest snowflake recorded was 15 inches across and fell from the sky in 1887 in Fort Keogh, Montana. I'll have to keep snapping photos over the winter....maybe I can find one that is a bit larger than this one, maybe even a record breaker! :-)
Snowflakes keep fallin on me beak
and no sun has me not wanting to speak,
says the little House Finch in his head! lol
A male House Finch just a chillin in the snow! lol
Actually he didn't appear so chilly, but I know I couldn't feel my toes anymore! lol
The ❄️WINTER❄️ is here
But please, have no Fear
A 🔥 Fire 🔥 can keep you warm
Without doing you any Harm
It must be handled with Care
While it is warming up the Air
So please light the 🔥 Fire 🔥

Just a small snowflake that had fallen on my balcony. I used 10x macro filter and my old D3200 for this shot.
