Or perhaps I should call it "When you discover what the smudge tool does"
Or perhaps I should call it "It's raining outside today"
Or perhaps I should call it "Always photograph your cheap and nasty, horrible ticker clock before you throw it away"

Every day is a delight
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
Every day is a delight
When it comes to you
Moments in their flight
Shall once again renew
Times never stand still
On their roads travel
Something there to fulfill
In each going unravel
Yesterdays were young
In their mood and plays
Every hour we're among
Its many different ways
Forgotten no time is
It journeys in memories
Beautiful in dreamy bliss
Wishes for our believes
Like a glow in the deep
Or sunlight from around
Hours forever to keep
Once again moments found
Some like kisses or wine
Each in a different taste
Coming back here to shine
Our threads to be retraced

There Is a New Song
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
Each morning of our life,
There is a new song
And when dusk arrive,
These, remain and carry on;
Futile is our love story,
If enlighten is not there,
With tuneful morning glory
And basket of fruits to bear.
Freedom is no yesterday,
Nor is it in a book we read,
It is the doing of our say
And how we others treat;
Flower within your breast
Are beautiful of wisdom,
If they are for love that is least,
They truly shall forward bloom.
Our heaven is not in book,
Or a story that once was told,
Nor is it of rainbow look,
It is what we give and hold;
Let there be love in what we do
And kindness is what you give,
Then prosperity becomes you
And justice shall with you live.

I love colored pencils and I have done alot of artwork with pencils--I see a lot of images of colored pencils --this is my rendition. having fun!!
How I did it--I used the smudge tool to drip the colors--to get the color past the pencils I had to paint some of the color in and then smudge it.

Color my Day
A poem by Katie Gabrielle
cotton candy colors always made me happy....
I like to watch the sugar spin
like a top
I like the scent of cotton candy
At the cotton candy stand
along the boardwalk
there are candy apples, carmel corn
and salt water taffy
but I wish to
take a taste of yesterday
sights and tastes and scent and sound
twirling the paper stick around
adding all the colors of the rainbow
pinks, blues, orange, yellows
sticky fingers
at the fair
eating cotton candy
nothing like it anywhere
spun sugar happiness
always eat it on the ferris wheel
spinning around and around
fingers full of cotton candy
sticky giggles
bubble gum flavors
color my day
with cotton candy
let the kid inside you
remember
and don't ever grow
up enough to
ever forget...

Our fall in the PNW is strange in that some trees have lost all their leaves and some have not even changed yet. We had a rain and wind storm the last couple of days which has helped things along quite a bit. Coming off of El Nina we are headed to a cold winter--YAY!! This little leaf is my star, I did help it out a bit with my smudge tool.

Here's a before and after-picture of a beautiful Jasmine flower.
The first picture was gray, flat and pretty boring. A part of one of the flowers was missing.
I added light, contrast and turned it to a better angel. But soemthing was missing. It had no depth, nothing special. So I added a classic water effect with the smudgetool and there it was, a whole new picture.

I sometimes thought that the masters had a way of combining patterns and items that are completely unrelated--but the looked good when they were all put together in an attractive way--I am sure there should be some meaning behind each object of the combination of them all. I used the smudge tool to "over paint" the objects to give them a look of brush work- some of the masters used thick paint and broad strokes while others did very fine painting with tiny brushes and lots of linseed oil thinning the paint. This old world master was a thick paint painter. :)
If you look at it on black you can see much more of the brush work (smudge tool).

Practising SmudgeTool
I have been sooooo stupid... I had this one in large size and was still busy editing it... I was aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalmost finished, when photoshop crashed... How lucky am I to be able to make a PrintScreen. Just sad I don't have the large size anymore....

Materials: Airbrush, Faber Castell Albrecht Dürer Color Pencils, Water, Smudgetool, Gold-leaf, Masking film
At first I masked the ornament and the frame and did an under layer with airbrush. Using Colorpencils with brush and water. Lighten some highligts with electric erasure. Smudging some areas with a smudgetool. Unmasking and fill out the ornament with OneShot Fast Dry Gold Size for gold leafing. Using an Artist Pen for the outlines. Taking a picture....and done;)
Hope you like it:)
Joan is actually standing in front of the North Saskatchewan River here. I just separated her from the background and gave it a "painted on canvas" look with the smudge tool and a texturizer filter.
Rendered in DAZ Studio 3 Advanced, opened in Photoshop CS4 to tweak with the liquify-filter the terrain and water. Used the smudgetool to smudge out edges.
Lighthouse by Jack Tomalin, light setup by Light Dome Pro 2 (DreamLight).
Since the earlier foto grossed out some people :) wanted to add something pleasant to see.
Used the smudge tool to get this brush stroke effect and added some lighting effect.

I first took a photo of this beautiful dahlia in my front yard and then painted it in Photoshop. To see how I did it, see my blog at www.digitalladysyd.com/?p=2010 and sydspix.wordpress.com/2014/03/29/how-to-use-the-smudge-tool/.
Tried to make a wanterpainting-ish image with the smudgetool. The final result was really not what I hoped. But when I watched the image I saw a dragon head and just had to fill it in with another color so everyone could se it.. And so it went.. My favorites are:
Dragon, skateboardgirl (down left), the crocodile and the elegant lady (to the left of the crocodile.
I've added eyes to some of them but most is only me following lines.
Played with the little used and underated smudge tool today... Neighbours lonesome sunflower, shot it, uploaded it, separated out from the background, layered a pure black background then hit it with the smudge tool...
Attempt to paint with the smudge tool. Inspired to try after seeing Scott Deardorff's work. Guess I need to keep practicing
