Ok. I realise I'm a month late, or 11 months early. Sorry about that.
I made a mango smoothie for breakfast today and this is the only straw in the house thick enough to suck it through.
It was never meant to be a photo but then I noticed how his face was the same colour as the smoothie...
my breakfast after biking to work:
8oz freshly cut pineapple, 20oz pitted nectarines, 5oz raw figs with stems removed, blended with a splash of water and a few ice cubes. makes around 36 fl.oz. of smoothie.

8oz of Swing Juice Orange Mango
1 ripe Banana

Enjoy and here's to a Healthy 2010!
Well beginning of the week and why not start it off healthy, with all the fresh goodies at home we were able to get this bright green colour back, good thing I was starting to get nervous that we would get kicked out of the challenge for presenting non super green smoothies.
Wifey is happy with her purchases from the states, as apparently Target which is only like what 40 KM away from each other stock completely different items, wifey picked up a pair of flat sandals which for some reason are not stocked up here.
Moving along as for the taste, I actually have not noticed the taste in a few days, its like drinking water, I guess as long as there is not poo in the smoothie I should be good to go.
Now that I mention that, I recently read an article about yogurt and how its genetic makeup is essentially the same as poo, wifey also mentioned a while back that her doctor said stop eating yogurt as its essentially scooping poo into your mouth. Haha I hope no one is eating yogurt at the same time they are reading this. :-P
Ingredients:
- Ripe Kiwis-2-4
-1 banana (I substituted 1 green GRANNY SMITH apple)
-Honey to taste, 2-4 Tablespoons
-1/2 Cup of Mango Juice (I substituted orange juice)
Optional:
-A Handful of Baby Kale
-1-2 TBSP Chia Seeds
-Handfull if ice cubes
Instructions:
Add all the ingredients to a blender & pulse until smooth and creamy. Pour into glasses and serve & enjoy!
A Great add was to top- off with Chia Seeds:
Chia Seeds- These do-it-all superseeds are good for your head with their high content of omega fatty acids that increase healthy brain function, but have also proven to be good for your heart by fighting high cholesterol and heart disease. They even boast a wide variety of nutrients, such as: protein, fiber, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, iron, calcium and antioxidants. Use up to three tablespoons of chia seeds in your smoothie for a thick consistency and a mildly sweet flavor.
Today's smoothie was a bit less appealing in look as we had added strawberries, in fact it looks like vomit but at least it did not taste like vomit. Today we substituted out the mangoes for coconut water and honestly did not taste any different, maybe if this goes well we can start up our own smoothie bar.
After all like i mentioned the other day that you get a complete fruit and veggie intake before you even get morning coffee.
Watched a documentary the other day about how we as a generation are the richest generation in history, unfortunately we eat like crap thus making us the most obese generation, well i would not consider myself obese, but I know as you age you start to get more rounder, as most of the retirees i see are a bit rounder.
Note to self must stay active.
