I made this "Super Citrus Smoothie" this morning, courtesy of Joy the Baker. It took some work trying to control the juicer with a mind of its own.
Here’s what you’ll need for one big smoothie:
A juicer
A blender
2 Tablespoons Meyer lemon juice
the juice of 1/2 a grapefruit (save the other half for tomorrow’s smoothie?)
1/2 cup fresh orange or tangerine juice
2 tablespoons honey
heaping 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 frozen banana (they blend better when frozen)
1/2 cup ice cubes
In a blender, combine juices, yogurt, and honey. Blend for a few seconds. Add the ice cubes and blend until smooth. This recipe makes one giant smoothie. Yumtown.
1 frozen banana
1 cupish frozen cherries
1/2 cup almonds
1 cupish soymilk
Grind almonds in blender until they form a coarse meal. Add the fruit, top off with the soymilk. Blend until smooth, adding more soymilk when needed.
If I had spinach that wasn't rotten, I would have added it.
nothing hits the spot like a smoothie break when i am working on the computer all day.
for the macro mondays "comforting" theme.
Since becoming pregnant, I've been obsessed with smoothies. They're the perfect way to get a variety of fruits & healthy things into your diet. See how I make mine here: www.madewithpink.com/2011/06/pineapple-banana-yogurt-frui...
Yesterday, I found a simple recipe for avacado smoothies online (here!) and copied it down, but didn't have time to make it.
HOWEVER...my mom saw it and decided to surprise me while I was mid-work, which was super nice since I would have probably chopped a few fingers off with the blender anyhow :).
Late upload again, sorry!

Made my homemade frozen chocolate/strawberry/banana smoothies! Here's how:
1. Toss soy milk, strawberries, bananas, Greek yogurt, and chocolate protein powder into a blender or Magic Bullet. Blend to the consistency you want.
2. Pour into cups or ice-cube trays, and shove in a popsicle stick or toothpicks.
3. Freeze.
4. Eat.

Orange Flax Seed Green Smoothie is fresh, refreshing, healthy and very textural. What sets this apart are the flax seeds which are used in their natural form, which retains their properties. Here is how to make it.

1 individual tub vanilla yogurt (between 5.3 and 6 ounces)
3/4 cup berries (I used strawberries and blackberries)
1/2 banana (cut into chunks)
1/8 cup skim milk
1/2 cup fresh spinach leaves
2 ice cubes
Blend all ingredients together and enjoy! For a more frothy, cold smoothie, put the finished product in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
Leftover coffee?
Chill leftover coffee in the fridge, for a super smoothie ingredient that kicks blended drinks into high gear.
No coffeehouse run necessary!
There are so many fun and healthy recipes out there!
This is what I whipped up:
Ingredients:
-Leftover hazelnut flavored coffee
-Almond Milk- I love creamy coffee!
I use a "carrageenan free, soy free, dairy free, gluten free & cholesterol free, brand creamer that is made with almond & coconut milk, ( only 15 calories per serving :)
-Natural Honey- if wanted.
(I don't use artificial sweeteners:)
-a few Ice Cubes
Garnish:
-1 to2 tbsp of Coconut flakes
- A sprinkle of Dark Chocolate Cacao Powder
Cacao is filled with two things that we love: antioxidants and chocolatey flavor! The antioxidants boost your immune system which helps to resist those nasty colds and sickness. The rich, chocolatey flavor is delicious and dessert-like which helps to resist those sugar cravings while still satisfying your sweet tooth. Blend two to four tablespoons of cacao powder with your daily smoothie and enjoy the warm flavors. Or sprinkle some cacao nibs on top for just a hint of goodness.
Directions:
Place coffee & almond/coconut milk & ice cubes in blender and pulse until smooth.
Garnish with flaked coconut & cacao powder if desired.
