Is there anything more peaceful and serene than a baby sleeping ? Except maybe this one might eat you when it wakes up 😉
Another of the magnificent leopards we saw in the Sabi Sands Reserve , South Africa.
Fun fact: leopards tend to sleep about 10-12 hours a day, mainly during the day because they primarily nocturnal. Sounds a bit like me now I’m older 😂
Happy weekend everyone !

I still have a few images from my trip to Lake Tyrell in November 2021.
I did post one of this old grader that sits several kilometers out from the shore of Lake Tyrell. It has been stranded there for almost 30 years, slowly rustling away.
"Rust Never Sleeps" is of course the title from Neil Young's Classic album Some consider the term to be a metaphor for artistic vitality. E.g. by staying the same, one is vulnerable to the corrosive effects of aging and obsolescence.
That works for me.
Long-eared owl (Asio otus).
It is nocturnal and secretive, so unlikely to be seen other than on migration (when birds may turn up on coasts at any time of day) or when leaving or returning to a communal roost site in winter.
It breeds thinly across the UK with fewer birds in the south-west and Wales. Northern birds migrate southwards, including birds from Europe coming to spend the winter in the UK, while southern birds are residents and only move short distances to find food.
One from last weekend. I told you it was a good one.

Detail of my latest tessellation, called "Extended Open Connection 5".
The tessellation was just laying on the table...I can't help myself, I'm seeing faces everywhere......and I saw this sleeping autumn beauty ;-))
Enjoy your day ;-))
After living in the (mostly) steamy Deep South of the US for five years, our first winter back in the UK came as a bit of shock.
If memory serves me right, the lowest temperature reading on the car one particular morning was minus 12C - hardly the best start to a working day.
Back at what was previously home, it wasn't unusual this time of year to have a slow saunter from our sub-division to the local Starbucks, in shorts, and sit outside in the sun discussing plans for the imminent Christmas visit back to family. It could get cold of course, in fact very very cold, but it was usually confined to a few days in January and February.
This was taken one Saturday close to our rented apartment in Whitegate before, booted and suited, we headed off to the local pub for lunch. In full-leaf this tree was magnificent - it hardly looked less so in its winter garb.

I'm very grateful for all your visits and would like to thank you now for stopping by, and any comments you may leave. Much appreciated, John...

Fix it—
Shouldn't care
I should just weep
Shouldn't care
I should just sleep
When you're lost without a clue
And the distance turns to blue
I'Il fix it for you
Yesterday faced off this rain
Now today everything's plain
Your heart is being accused
You're darkened and you're bruised
I'Il fix it for you
Shouldn't care
I should iust weep
Shouldn't care
I should just sleep
When you're lost without a clue
And the distance turns to blue
I'Il fix it for you

I feel my fate in what I cannot fear
I learn by going where I have to go "

Peaceful Sleep Leo cat sleeping comfortably with a blanket, he sleeps more now since he is older, he does have burst of energy chasing Prissy, shot in North Carolina.
When did you sink to your dreamless sleep
Out there in your thunder bed?
Where the tempests sweep,
And the waters leap,
And the storms rage overhead.
Were you lying there on your couch alone
Ere Egypt and Rome were born?
Ere the Age of Stone,
Or the world had known
The Man with the Crown of Thorn.
The winds screech down from the open west,
And the thunders beat and break
On the amethyst
Of your rugged breast, —
But you never arise or wake.
You have locked your past, and you keep the key
In your heart 'neath the westing sun,
Where the mighty sea
And its shores will be
Storm-swept ill the world is done.
