On the slab above tunnel 7; one of the parade of westbound empty coal buckets flies through the cut and dives into tunnel 7 along the Goshawk Ridge on the Flatirons. Fall color strikes a pose against the granite on this Smokey day along the Moffat Road. September 17, 2020

Are you thinking of redoing your kitchen or bathroom. You can come to this display yard and pick out your pattern in granite. I assume they would have quartz and marble as well. I like the way these slabs are displayed. My picture only shows about a third of the field. It looks like there is a partially finished warehouse in the back. They also have a store on the main street of this town. If you had to pick one, which pattern would you choose?
Helpful hint: after building two of my own houses and now overseeing my daughter’s house build, I can tell you to use quartz over granite. Granite needs sealed, treated and constantly cleaned because it tends to smear. I’ve had quartz countertops for 13 years. They don’t need any treatments. Just wipe with a damp cloth and they look like new.
Southbound KNWA coal loads cross the trestle at Slab Fork, WV on their way towards Elmore for interchange with NS.
I seem to be doing less and less seascape shooting recently but maybe this is due to the summer light so this is an old one from the archives down at Seacliff beach but much further East than I normally shoot.
There was no colour in the skies but decided to keep some colour in the shot for the rocks.
The Bass Rock and St Baldreds Boat can be seen on the horizon
How about a log slab with your name etched on it, covered with shiny polyurethane, to hang above your fireplace? That’s sure going to look nice there alongside your mounted Jackaloupe. Your friends will be green with envy.
Cwm Idwal
Well i didnt expect this place when we headed out for a walk on Saturday morning. We started off around 8am and after walking for around 40min we arrived at Llyn Idwal which is partially surrounded by Cwm Idwal.
The second thing i thought of when i seen this imposing landscape was "this is what i'd imagine Iceland to look like" Its so hard to show the scale of this scenery in a photo. If you zoom in on the bottom of "the slabs" you might spot a few people. The first thing I thought was wow!
I stepped back a little for a wider view from my previous post. It's hard to imagine a torrent of water rushing thru here.
Love these rocks down near Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Just found I have had 4 photos shortlisted for Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year 2014 so chuffed with this.
A trip across the Channel with LP bro Phill, was another epic adventure to remember. After a long journey through the night, Phill with the peddle to the metal pumping out D&B tunes, we made our way across France, following the Atlantic Wall to reach this amazing R 622 blockhouse-bunker at St Marguerite sur Mer, Normandy Beach. Huge just doesn't cut it.

Glaciated granite slabs rising from shoreline meadows reflected in the still water of a backcountry Yosemite lake.
This photograph comes from the early morning hours, before the sun had risen high enough above the surrounding peaks to directly light the immediate landscape. The light is soft and blue-toned, the water is smooth, and the entire scene at this backcountry lake was serene. My recollection is that I had been up at the first hint of light, and that I spent the next few hours exploring the periphery of this lake. .
The photograph comes from very early autumn back in 2009, when I hiked in solo to join a larger group of my friends who were starting a weeklong photography visit to this area. I had teaching responsibilities back in the “real world,” so I was only able to remain for a few days before heading out to civilization. I later found out that I has missed some, uh, “special” weather… that brought the temperatures at this location down to about 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Ah, autumn in the Sierra! Most of the time it is pleasant and comfortable, but every so often an early bit of winter sneaks in to bite you!

Something a bit more moody in comparison with my previous uploads. Hard to believe they were all taken on the same day :-)
COVID-19, part 2. DIY lighting, difused.
Quite a tricky photo if you want to make sure there are no reflections (I used a polarizer, but it doesn't do much, I had to get creative)
Hopefully not a cliche :)
URR 76ET emerges out of the Edgar Thomson Works, one of the last holdouts of Pittsburgh's once-mighty steel industry, with the morning slab train for the Irvin Works. The flagship mill of US Steel, ET has been in operation since 1873 and was one of North America's first integrated steel mills.
slab city is a community of individualists, artists, loners, and seekers of profound truths. some love the desert as i do, as you can feel the presence of the creator of this and the cosmos. here, you are not inundated by the madness of civilized society.
I am down inside a large natural dried up pool. This is one of the larger watering holes in this arroyo. You can see in the BG (top of the image) how the watering hole is lined with huge rocks to form a pool. The FG rocks or slabs have naturally toppled over and split. Each of these slabs are 12" to 18" thick.
