Located on Tribeca, New York alley lined with wonderful brick buildings and zig-zagging fire escapes, the Staple Street skybridge was built in 1907.
This incredible structure is one of the highest of its kind in the world. Standing at 7,200 feet above sea level. The Cloudraker Skybridge span 130m from Whistler Peak to the West Ridge, crossing high above Whistler Bowl.

On the arrival day, it was pouring down like hell, so we could not even see WTC in the distance...but next early morning, the conditions had improved, to take a few captures of this beautiful skybridge in Staple Street. Have a great remaining weekend. Thanks, Udo.
The shot was taken from the Highline Park, an historic elevated rail line converted into a park, in Manhattan. The building complex was built in 1890 Chelsea Market and was the original site for The National Biscuit Company, or Nabisco, and the place where the Oreo cookie was invented and produced. The skybridge connected the Nabisco factory to its offices. Google's parent company, Alphabet, Inc. purchased Chelsea Market in 2018 for $2.4 billion dollars.

Tension and divide. I didn't know when I took this shot back in 2019 that it was one of those shots that's never going to be repeated. The Art Deco MetLife skybridge by Madison Square Park that crosses 24th Street in New York City was removed November 2020 to allow for property development. The skybridge connects properties owned by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company located at 1 and 11 Madison Ave. At 700 ft tall the Clock Tower was the tallest building in the world from it's completion in 1909 to 1913!
Just one stop along the way with a top to bottom walk around Manhattan with my friend Mathias, aka., m_laRs_k, what a day we had and covered 19 miles. Can't wait to do it again (A bit longer than I hoped but soon...)

A skybridge connects the main building of the Sterling C. Evans Library to the adjacent Evans Library Annex on the campus of Texas A&M University, College Station.
Golden BC. The Skybridge 457 feet over the canyon. Two ways back - take the skybridge or zipline on the 1000 foot zipline that saves you the 10 minute walk back. We elected to take the long way.
West 15th Street Skybridge NYC - 1930 - Though most know it today as Chelsea Market, the enormous, block-sprawling complex was once home to the bakeries of Nabisco (from National Biscuit Company, formerly the New York Biscuit Company). The skybridge was built to connect the bakery to Nabisco’s offices across the street.
New York Hospital Skybridge NYC - 1907
Skybridge built in 1907 to connect the third floors of 60 Hudson Street with 9 Jay Street which housed the emergency and laundry rooms, respectively for New York Hospital. While the hospital moved over time, there is a cartouche on the 9 Jay Street side with the letters N.Y.H. in a terracotta shield form.

The ad for building this bridge went something like this. Town of Golden requires bridge builders for a "here hold my beer" project - work mainly with cables, slats and have a good sense of balance and low self esteem. Unmarried with no commitments definite attributes. Replacement workers will be probably be required as the project progresses.
On the way to the Grand Canyon Skybridge my wife and I turned on this road to see this valley filled with Joshua trees which are rare. I have no idea if this unusual concentration of these trees are natural or were these trees planted as saplings years ago. The marking of location on the map is just a rough approximation of where this spot is. I say this because I got an angry Flickr mail a few years back about this.

My cinematic version of this magnificent street with it's unique skybridge where gentrification hasn't begun yet. I was lucky that there were no cars parked.

This was such a fun discovery. I was leaving an open house--beautiful 3 bedroom loft with a 48' long living room at 335 Greenwich Street. (For sale for $4,950,000, which I'm happy to show if anyone is interested . . . ) Turned the corner onto Jay Street and re-discovered Staple Street.
The building on the left is a single family townhouse formerly owned by the fashion designer Zoran Ladicovbic. He bought the skybridge and the apartment on the 3rd floor in the building on the right for his studio. 9 Jay Street is a 6,300 sq.ft., 25' wide townhouse with 11' ceilings and apartment 3 A/B in 67 Hudson on the right is 1,900 sq.ft. Both were on the market for $30 million a couple of years ago. The properties did not sell at the time and I have not followed to see if they were sold privately or if Ladicovbic still owns them.
West 15th Street Skybridge near the Chelsea Market in the Lower West Side of Manhattan, New York. It was a fresh and cloudy morning, and I took the photo from the High Line, which was constructed between 2006 and 2017. It's a great experience to walk on the High Line, even if the weather is not brilliant.

Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam, Cool, Coolhaven, Little C (slightly cut from T & B)
Three of the 15 towers with their connecting skybridges of Little C are shown here. And, well, what can I say about the 'Little C Lofts & offices' complex in Rotterdam? For graphically inclined photographers like me it’s surely eye candy. But notwithstanding the lofty (pun intended) goals, the architectural choices are debatable. Little C doesn’t aim to be original, it just tries to copy 'New York style' tenements (they do resemble 'The Projects'....) with their external fire staircases and the London Docklands with their skybridges. While doing this, it follows the contemporary 'red industrial brick paradigm' closely. And it is only a partial solution for the big housing scarcity in Holland since it offers no affordable housing.
Little C was designed by CULD and Inbo and is the winner of several architectural prizes, one of them praising the liveability and the social cohesion, so maybe I’m being a little grumpy here ;-)
Little C consists of 15 towers, connected thru skybridges. It offers 320 apartments and 10.000 square metres of office space.
