As I approached Blackweir playing fields so half a rainbow appeared, it had been overcast til that point. The clouds parted for about 5minutes, time enough to capture this majestic tree. What tales it could tell I'm sure if it could talk.

An egg in the hand is worth two in the bush? No... that's not quite right, is it?
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 19th of May is "hand(s)", but no arms. So, I have chosen a photograph I took about a month ago, which I was contemplating using for my Easter photo. I acquired a selection of egg decorations for Easter and I was very struck by this gilt and painted wooden egg, so I photographed it in my left hand and then made it a selective colour image which not only brough out the beautiful textures of the egg, but also my hand! Not bad for a one handed shot, even if I do say so myself! I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile!
It was entertaining to follow this interesting leaf-cutter bee which was frantically moving between bluebell flowers collecting pollen and nectar from campanula flowers. I believe that this is a female Patchwork leaf-cutter bee (Megachile centuncularis). Female of these solitary bees have characteristic bright pollen orange brush on the underside of their abdomen as can be seen here too. Interestingly, the tip of her abdomen was was covered with light blue pollen not sure from which flowers. Taken in the garden. Bath, BANES, Somerset, England, UK
Bei meiner abendlichen Radrunde kam ich an der Himmelsleiter vorbei. Die Himmelsleiter ist ein Aussichtsturm von 16 Meter Höhe. Oben angekommen zeigte sich der Himmel von seiner besten Seite.
During my evening bike tour I came to the sky ladder. The sky ladder is a lookout tower 16 meters high. Once at the top, the sky was at its best.

Now that summer is coming to an end here this week (according to the date already on the last Tuesday), you can already start looking forward to the next one ;-) From tomorrow it will be colder here and the sky will cry ... This photo is even from last year – and I can always fondly remember the lightness of that summer ... The end of something is also the joy of the next and the memory of the past.
