her mind drifted outward, yet her hands held time still — like a quiet sculpture made of breath and thought.
This Green Anole was sunning and hunting insects on our deck. Usually they are very shy and skittish, but this one hung around awhile, allowing me to get several shots.
The pebbly texture of their skin is so interesting to me. Zoom if you'd like a closer look.

her gaze cuts through the soft morning haze like a whispered secret. the air glows pale and diffused, yet every detail — from the glint of the ring to the shape of her silence — sharpens in its own quiet light. this is the kind of moment you don’t hear coming, only feel as it leaves something behind.
Green Iguana ~ #384 in Explore 3/11/16
This big guy (5 feet long) has been hanging around in
my backyard the last few weeks. During a cold spell a

Iguanas can range from 5 to 6 feet including their tail. The two species of lizard within the genus Iguana possess a dewlap, a row of spines running down their backs to their tails, and a tiny "third eye" on their heads. This light-sensing organ is known as the parietal eye, visible as a pale scale on the top of the head, and cannot make out details, just brightness. Behind their necks are small scales which resemble spokes, known as tuberculate scales. These scales may be a variety of colors and are not always visible from close distances. They have a large round scale on their cheeks known as a subtympanic shield.
Iguanas have great vision and can see shapes, shadows, colors, and movement at long distances. Iguanas use their eyes to navigate through crowded forests, as well as for finding food. They use visual signals to communicate with other members of the same species.
The tympanum, the iguana's ear drum, is located above the subtympanic shield and behind the eye. Iguanas are often hard to spot, as they tend to blend into their surroundings. Their scale colors are a mode of hiding from larger predators
just zooming a little we can see the details all over on his face. texture of the skin, lines on forehead, below the both the eyes, & lines on the cheeks. lips and white beard,
wet eyes try to say something.
I was very particular to bring out texture of the skin.

This is my brother on the right and myself on the other side. I was surprised, merging our shots together, to see how much we look exactly alike, he’s like a male version of me. We share the same bone structure, eyes, mouth, skintexture…it’s crazy. Editing this was a piece of cake :D !
Strobist: Canon 580EXII camera right through beautydish, Canon 430EXII left, slightly behind me, through octagonal softbox.
Stuck in limbo with this guy; gave him a quick faceup but I haven't finished it and now I'm not sure if I want to or if I want to repaint him...lol
At least he's got a face, for now. This is Lionel, my poor neglected Venitu who's been sitting here and looking at me sadly for the past year...
Two half brothers are the latest additions to the Asiatic Elephant enclosure providing welcome company for a retired female circus elephant. What better way to spend the midday heat than a dip in the pool.

NO BANNERS, please!
Last month, I received an email from Hamilton today announcing his retirement. He inquired if I still have the photo I took of him a couple of years ago so he can use it for his signature board. So I dug this up and thought I might share it here. It's really a test shot. At that time I just got my Canon 580ex ii flash and wanted to practice on bouncing the light.

This is my first attempt at adding skin texture and changing eye-color. I'm not 100% sure if I'm actually the one who took this shot...I'm double-checking on that, but I think I am...I don't want to take credit for anything I didn't do. That said, the post-processing is all me. Thank you to all who check it out!

Finished state of the Kanadoll Adrian, without gloss yet.
My flickr is extremely behind, so I am going to upload some assorted older faceups I never did, anywhere, before uploading all the new ones. (Except Adrian here) If you would like more up to date samples sooner, please consider visiting my Instagram. ;) www.instagram.com/zoeyevergreen/

Super-macro of a doll's face. In this work I used multi-tone, multi-layer painting technique to achieve hyperrealistic texture: here I draw pores, imitate uneven coloring of human skin & highlight its imperfections. This crop fragment of the face is about 16 mm (5/8") in height.

He is supossed to be a viking guy, but I don't have any proper wig at home and he really doesn't seem to know how to hold an axe.

Two self-portraits shot in the studio because it was either too hot or too rainy to go outside.
Apologies to the Bard for stealing his line. For the past three years it has seemed that something wicked was always on the way. Part of a multi-year series on how to age disgracefully.
Low-key self portrait to contrast with the high-key one I took in January.

Strobist info: Nikon SB-800 in umbrella directly above and slightly in front of subject and pointing straight down, most likely at 1/4 power. There's also a small sheet of foamcore in my lap to bounce a little light back upwards.
