A pair of Black Skimmer's skimming along searching for a little fish. Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Galloway, NJ.
A Mute Swan skimming fresh water off the top of this salt water bay. Unfortunately the sun had already set on this section of the bay, so the lighting was a bit tricky, but I must say I'm getting addicted to golden water shots!

There was a lot of skimming action on this sunny afternoon. The skimmers were "hanging" with the Laughing Gulls, with spoonbills, pelicans and various shorebirds in the vicinity.

It has been almost a year since our little Flickr group has been able to meet for some photo fun. Last night we ventured down to Port Melbourne to walk along the waterfront to Sandridge lookout.
There was no magic sunset but the clouds were heavy and formed pillows in the sky. A blush of pink coloured them later in the evening.
This is an ICM of the city skyline with a pair of seagulls dancing in time with the movement.
When I got to this back bay area before dawn, I could see the skimmers were already skimming so I hightailed it down to water's edge. They moved on shortly after the sun lit the bay, but I got a couple of nice skims on glassy water. Be sure and give it a couple of clicks for "large" - pretty cool reflection.
It is suggested that shooting into the sun is not the wisest angle to choose. However, sometimes exploiting what it gives, can render a unique image. In this shot the sun is low enough that it's rays skim over the beached logs leaving the rest in shadow.
Black Skimmer (Rynchops niger)
It was great. You take their pictures on the beach with the chicks and then walk to the ocean and get them skimming. They were a little far out so it's a big crop.So much fun to watch. Nickerson Beach Park, Long Island NY.
This Black Skimmer was doing what it does best - Skimming!

Some wonderful low level flying skills by this Australian Pelican as it dipped the wing tip in the water during an early morning flight along the surface of the Murray River at Mannum in South Australia.
Happy Wing Wednesday!

A black skimmer doing its skimming thing in early morning light. This is full frame - sometimes they got a little too close for a full body and wing image.
My sincere thanks to all who spend the time to view, like or comment on my photos. It is much appreciated!

Such a sense of fun and freedom . This little boy was loving his time throwing stones into the breakers.
This blue heron was flying across the main lake at Jackson Bottom. I loved the ripples on the water!
Just stroking the water surface with its wing tips, presumably to help it judge its height over the water.
A pair of black skimmers doing what they do.
Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to view, like or comment on my photos!

We enjoyed a morning at the Celery Fields again watching these clever fishermen in action! These Black Skimmers slice through the water so quickly and quiet. And sometimes they come up with a mouthful! We weren't sure if we were going to see much there, but as always the Celery Fields never disappoints.

Good Monday Morning folks, and hope a great weekend was had by all.
I photographed this guy for quite some time, as he left the nest for more nesting material he came closer and closer to the water and thought for sure he would touch at some point, but never did as you will see in a couple of more images I will post, Thank you for visiting and as always have a great day.
