My first ever "Photoshopped" photo. Because the background is so busy, I couldn't get the result I wanted using Lightroom and Silver Efex as I usually do. I applied a "sketch" effect using layers and it helped bring some definition to the truck.

In October fruits and berries ripen to reds and oranges, the leaves begin turning from green to yellow and the winds blow colder ...
Created from a photograph hawthorn berries and leaves in a breeze as the Artistic Manipulation October Placemark.

I've started work on a writing project so there's much less time for photography, so I've been playing with my macbookpro photobooth, documenting the act of studying/writing, and of procrastinating too...
Frazier is my oldest nephew. He has just started his own company, Signature Clothing. His line consists of all sorts of apparel, and is pretty cool looking, so this pic was something I wanted to be a little different, cool and innovative, just like Frazier!
After Thanksgiving dinner, I did a couple of quick grab shots at the table of Frazier and his brother, Drake. Though this one wasn't bad as far as detail went, it was busy and needed some enhancement. As I looked at the image, I realized that some of the things that were popping up in the background actually played into who Frazier is. "Brawny" and "Hefty" describe his strength. He had gone through Police Academy, and trained hard, deciding afterwards that he wanted to go a different route, which may include being an Army Ranger. Frazier is a tough guy with a heart. He loves animals, and they love him, so the kitties that pop up bring that in. There are magnets on the fridge referencing faith and humor, both also are a big part of who Frazier is. So, I left the background, busy as it was, but decided to make him pop by doing a sketch effect on only him. I actually really liked it after I got done. It kind of highlights the drive my nephew has, and a good natured intensity and determination that he personifies.

Pretty please with sugar on top (expression I learnt from my sweet little one, works all the time. Try it next time when you need something from your dear one :-) ) please view it in large and see the butterfly. You do not have to comment or fave , just see it on black :-) .
Have a great weekend.
Used in Week 38 - 'Post process play' with the Compositionally Challenged Group.
Also used in this month's 'Most Versatile' challenge with the Compositionally Challenged Group.
Hand crafted with Photoshop Elements 13. Selected the non-red mask area and experimented with the various art sketch effects until I found something I liked.
The Shot
This is a shot taken while travelling over the Pont de Normandie bridge over the River Seine near Le Havre, France. I was in the front passenger seat of the car so had a good chance to take quite a sequence of pictures.
The picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle lens at 10mm.
The bridge is pretty surreal to start with so I decided to experiment with Topaz Simplify and Coloured sketch preset.
This picture was enhanced with Topaz Adjust clarity and then Topaz Simplify. Then Photoshop was used to bring in more contrast.

I have recently joined Facebook and some of my pictures are there now as well. See- www.facebook.com/edwinjonesphoto

this weeks prompt at Journal 52 is 'You Make Me Smile" and this guy really does.
My cat, Michio (named after Japanese scientist Michio Kaku) makes me smile all the time because of the places he gets into. His brother, Kaku, never does anything fun, he's very serious!!
This process includes taking many pictures and turning them into 'sketch effect' in my photo editing program. It means I don't have to draw!!! Just color with Inktense pencils.
He gets under the covers, on top of the range hood, grabs the things hanging from the overhead light and turns it off while we're watching TV, always on the counter (he fell off just after I took his picture of him looking cute) in paper sacks, and in the cupboard. What a treat he is....probably my last cat from kittenhood.

This is an example of the Sketch Effect Tutorial in Photoshop. Applying four simple steps to this photograph of the American Flag, I have created a nice looking piece of colorized art.
Just for general info - Photo taken of 1/6 scale R/C model Tiger tank to which I created a pen & ink effect. Background image of tiger is a photo I "borrowed" from somewhere......
Original photo of model tank found here
The model is probably a replica of a PanzerKampfwagen VI Ausf. E (Tiger I)
It's the Eye of the Tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Risin'up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all
with the Eye of the Tiger
Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds until we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive
Chorus from "Eye of The Tiger" by Survivor
I don't know how many frames I've used trying to achieve this pen and wash look in camera. This comes close.

Edited in PicMonkey with Sketch effect from Comic Heroes theme, and some graph paper texture too.
This is an example of the Sketch Effect in Photoshop. This originally was a photograph of the Houston Skyline. After applying four steps, I managed to convert the photograph into a sketch.
