After last night's heavy snowfall, I bundled up against the sub zero temperatures and went on a photo shoot down to the newly redeveloped historic Waterfront and Shipyards complex. Enjoy the series!

Wish I'd learned to skate at that age. Slight crop only.
It is raining here. As The New Yorker cartoonist David Sipress writes,
"My desire to be well-informed is currently at odds with my desire to remain sane."

It's been cold enough for the Ottawa Rideau Canal to be up & running for skaters from all over the world to enjoy! It's 202 kilometers of ice, that connects Canada's Capital city of Ottawa to the St. Laurence River at Kingston. It has been a National Historical Site since 1925.
The fabulous & largest skating rink in the world, the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Canada's Capital, has yet to open due to mild weather!
Rideau Canal Locks, and not the kind boats go through, but the love type. Things you do for your 365. I took a similar shot on Sunday, but elected not to go with it as I liked the panning shot I got. So on my way to to the airport, I decided to go make a little detour to make this my shot of the day. Glad I did.

Broken Arrow has a downtown outdoor Ice Rink and they have some trees setup where families do portrait shots and get the hot teas and hot chocolates too.

I am afraid i've got a few of those skating rink images - too many of them in fact:-)
Take one beautiful winter day, add a lovely skating rink in the city, and you get throngs of people enjoying this winter activity.
Taken with a Canon Elph Digital using the toy camera effect. This effect looks more like film than the toy camera effects I've seen on other digital cameras. The heavy vignette makes them look like silent movie stills - except in color. The fact that I can zoom in is nice. My film toy cameras are all wide angle fixed focus. So it's hard to go in close.
The skating rink area at Battersea Power Station. I did wait for youngsters to stop climbing on the sign but gave up in the end and included some of them in the shot.
a mild evening in Toronto...but still people were skating on the City Hall frozen ice rink downtown.
My daughter and I saw the musical Cinderella at the Morvish theatre...enjoying the nonsense...especially the most amazing costume changes on stage ever...live !
We also enjoyed the lights of the city downtown.....
....including a look at the beautiful Christmas display windows in the shopping area... reminding me of how we once took our lifte children there, when the store was called Simpson"s....
we saw little bit of a labour dispute briefly between Toronto's taxi drivers and UBER drivers...that had been going on all day long.at city hall.
a trip to and from downtown on the GO train... convenient and quick, except for the late return...the service being cut somewhat to allow for necessary maintenance.
We walked through the Eaton Centre before the theatre... enjoying the large beautiful reindeer occupying space this year.
Earlier in the day, I attended the Christmas Party of my firbreart group Connections... in Fergus Ontario...a small beautiful town in the middle of Ontario... an event filled event !
Home today...in a more than three hour drive, in heavy fog for two thirds of the trip..... and a nap this afternoon ! I never nap ! well, almost never !
I did not do any commenting today........tomorrow likely ... hoping that my contacts are not overdoing things again this season...and hoping for PEACE ON EARTH!
