Built in the second half of the 19th century in cut stone, it has an open courtyard and two floors. The rectangular building has three entrances with iron wings and round arches on the east, south and north facades. The floor of the central courtyard is paved with block stones. There is an elliptical pool in the center of the courtyard and two double-headed lions with water flowing from their mouths in opposite directions in the center of the pool. To the south and north of the central courtyard are porticoes formed by six large columns with one-piece cylindrical bodies. The columns in the porticoes are connected to each other with round arches. The rooms behind the portico and the portico are covered with barrel vaults. Externally, each space is covered with a hipped roof and covered with tiles. It is still used as a business center and there are cafeterias on the ground and upper floors.

How about this for a beautiful butterfly from Bhutan? The Panther (Neurosigma siva). It was just photographed by our local guide & is one our groups should be able to see this time next year when we plan to run our two postponed tours.

Arubathu Moovar Festival at Mylapore.
Arupathu Moovar festival, as a part of Panguni Uthiram, is celebrated to honour the Saivaite devotees, namely the sixty-three Nayanmars. The procession is celebrated by taking the Nayanmars in a palanquin that is decorated with ornaments and flowers. Appar, Sundarar, Thirugnana Sambandar are carried in a separate palanquins. Idols of Kapaleeshwarar and Karpagambal, and other deities, are decorated with colorful and fragrant flowers and taken in procession around four Mada Veedhis (streets)
The festival is accompanied by many cultural and musical events. The playing of Kailaya Vadhyam and Siva Thandavams are the highlights of the festival.
