Back to the lone tree at Findon in Sussex, the sun gave a nice display and lit up the Buttercups on the side of the hill.

St Mary's sits next to the coastal salt marshes. Domesday Book mentions it and a substantial part of the existing church dates to those times - the 11th Century.

The nave pictured here was widened in a 15C makeover. The door leads to the south porch added then. The curtained archway leads into the bell tower. The pews are probably a 19th Century addition.

Externally, the flint tower's tapering base is probably Saxon and is topped by a cylindrical Norman construction suggesting that it was completed after the Norman Conquest. St Mary's great attraction is its quaint Medieval 'spirelet' of lead coated timber frame. Outside view of tower and 'spirelet'

Brownie-bear had a bit of a fright, but he was saved by his great friends Oleg and Peter all the way from Groningen.

Harm and M. Jean are comforting him. He will be okay in no time and up to new mischief I fear..

Glen Finglas sits in the “Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park” and in years gone by it was a popular hunting forest for the nobles and kings of Scotland. This photo is Glen Finglas reservoir and the small island in the centre is called “Tom Buidhe” (the yellow knoll) and is thought to be the site of the Old Hunt Hall built for James II of Scotland in the 1400s where important documents of state may have been signed. The forest itself abounds with wildlife where if lucky you may catch site of Golden Eagles, Buzzards, Red Deer and a variety of wild birds, you may also catch site of Otters along the shore of nearby Loch Venachar, so tread softly if you ever have the opportunity to visit one of Scotlands historical and wildlife treasures.

Durdle door sits on the South Coast of the UK in Dorset and is part of the Jurassic coastline there.

A much loved spot visited by many photographers always produces some incredible images.

This was taken in the late afternoon when the rocks and coastline were bathed in some beautiful golden light.

Using a LEE little stopper for a longer exposure to catch some motion in the water.

Waterscape 4 of 100 for 2025.

This massive rock sits proudly in the middle of Deadman's Beach. I've often wondered how it ended up there—what geological forces shaped its journey?

Today, as I looked at the photo, it struck me: the rock resembles a giant bao bun buried in the sand. Naturally, this led me down a rabbit hole exploring the history of bao buns. Originating in Northern China, bao dates back to the Three Kingdoms period in the 3rd century, with some evidence pointing as far back as 400 BC.

And then it all made sense: giant, rock-eating aliens with a penchant for Chinese cuisine must have dropped this here during one of their visits in ancient times. Mystery solved. You're welcome!

Thank you all for the kind likes and comments—they’re always deeply appreciated!

P.S. Speaking of buns, if you’ve got 3 minutes, I recommend this touching animation about motherhood and buns:

Wedge Overlook, San Rafael Swell, east central Utah. One of the lesser-known Utah “extras” that lie outside its five national parks. Note the couple having a nice, quiet sit, top left.

A LR stitch of handheld shots.

This vintage Catapiller sits on display at the Guy Goodwin Education Center in Carrizo Plain national Monument, San Luis Obispo County, California. Cattle were brought to the grasslands of the Carrizo Plain by the early 1850s. The next big change came when dryland grain farmers started homesteading in the valley. Eventually vast amounts of the grassland was put to the plow. The farm work was orignally all done with horse drawn euipment but eventually tractors like this one did the heavy work. The Carrizo Plain gets only 8 to 10 inches of rainfall a year on average but the amount during any given year can be highly unpredictable. The risk of crop failure due to insufficient moisture became to great and most of the farming efforts were abandoned. In the last few decades many of the homesteads were bought and became part of the National Monument which is administered by the BLM.

Bird Island, Seychelles.

Bird Island is a beautiful remote privately owned, coral sand island situated in the Indian Ocean just off the East African coast. The island has stunning, scenery beautiful beaches and a huge array of wildlife.

The Fairy (or white) Tern is a beautiful bird seen on all islands in Seychelles. Fairy Terns use trees for breeding, although they do not build a nest. Instead, the female lays a single egg on a branch, usually where there is a knot or fork to support the egg. She will sit on the egg to prevent it from falling from the branch. As soon as the egg hatches twenty one days later, the fluffy chick clings on to the branch with its large clawed feet. The adults feed the chicks small fish, which are carried crossways in the parent’s beak.

I have so many of these shots, I will probably bore you all to death with them.

...listening to the falling leaves....

Have a wonderful Saturday !!!!!!!
