Eclectic Event

...Watergate Beach, Cornwall

I'm so happy to have finished it up this morning.

This is one of those quilts that I've always wanted to make and am so glad that I took the time to do so. It's bright, cheery and and best of all... finished! :)

The reality is where do I look for that special someone ?

The Single Girl quilt I started in January (I think?) is finally done! Took a tonne of breaks in between actually working on it, but I'm so pleased it's finally done! My long armer Laura quilted it in a baptist fan pattern and I love it! The back is a Moda Dottie and the binding is a Kona Coal, just like the background.

Blogged.

Great minds (or foolish ones?) must think alike - Katy and I both used Liberty of London for our Single Girl test blocks! It's not perfect, but I think it turned out okay. I wouldn't want to do a whole quilt piecing with slippery tana lawn, although I think it would be beautiful. This one is destined to be a pillow to go with my Liberty hexy quilt (when I finish it sometime this decade!)

The good news is it's a whole lot easier than it looks!

Here is my first finished Single Girl Cushion. I've got all the pieces cut out for the second cushion, and am waiting for background fabric to arrive so I can get working on a quilt.

I really love this pattern!

I've been so indecisive about what to make you. But here's what I'm thinking, some fresh stuff for your sewing room! A double sided machine cover , pin cushion and either a threader catcher or a pretty needle book ( do you embroider/hand sew? would you use this?)

I'm going to use this block, the other side will be a nice natural linen with some funky applique (of some sort, yet undecided). How do you feel about this? Are you a fan of the color wheel? I get the entire day to sew on Friday (awesome!) So speak up before then if I'm way off!

Drawing butterflies is one of the funniest activity for our daughter. The girl is fully occupied with the process, so she does not even notice me with the camera. From the other hand our family portraits are my biggest interest in photography, so the pleasure was equal I guess). Window light fills the scene from the back and reflector adds just a little more light for her face.

I met Laurana in Key West early in 2005. Laurana was having a short vacation and was in town from Chicago. We spent a few days together. A very beautiful petite 30 year old mixed race women who was and still is an artist, dancer and dance teacher.

(well the top anyway!)

can't believe i've finished it, if it hadn't been for the SGSG I would still be looking longingly at the pattern in it's little bag!

next week - marking the quilting pattern, then basting when the backing arrives, and the start of the gruelling hand quilting!

Finally finished :) Denyse Schmidt's pattern, made from a selection of Heather Ross FFA1 and FFA2, Hope Valley, and others. Klona natural background and Hope Valley binding. Hand quilted in hot pink perle cotton.

I decided to stitch up a baby quilt using four of the extra blocks I had that didn't make it into the big quilt. It came together in 2 nights. I think I spent about 6-7 hours on the stitching which made me really optimistic about the king I'm getting ready to handquilt

Headshot (portrait) of five year old girl with brown eyes looking straight into the lens. She is very serious and honest looking.

I stitched up a sample for my demo on handquilting at the PMQG meeting this week! Finishing this has me suddenly inspired to get my top sandwiched and start hand stitching a (gulp) king size quilt. I hope to have it finished in under 2 months when I start quilting.
