NEOBALLS / ZEN MAGNETS - Neodymium Magnetic Balls (@216) - Single Set Cycle

(@216) - The all chrome version is exactly one set or 216 magnets.

(@220) - The color version has a 4-ball extension on the front to make it more chopper like.

Nice small scale challenge to get the distinctive shape and enough detail to make it distinguishable.

This was made for the Zen Magnets March 2013 Contest 27: Single Set Cycle ... www.zenmagnets.com/blog/27-single-set-cycle/

Day three of our trip to Poland saw us take in Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps and the salt mine just outside Krakow. The second set are from Auschwitz II Birkenau

This is much more what I expected, remains of wooden huts, etc. This camp is 3km from Auschwitz and was built by the prisoners there, who marched here every day, worked all day, then were marched back again

"The architectural style of the single detached dwelling at 92 Charlotte Street is that of a Brantford Cottage built Circa 1860. The Brantford Cottage is characterized by its square shape, yellow or white brick construction, centre door with transom on the front facade and semi circular openings with brick voussoirs. The yellow or white brick used in the construction of these cottages was made of sand- stone or sand and lime. Manufactured in Brantford, this brick ages to a mid to dark grey colour.

The front facade of this house is one storey in height, and is composed of three bays. The main entrance to the residence is centrally located in the middle bay. Windows v,ith rounded openings are symmetrically located in each of the side bays. The recessed front entrance is an alteration to the original building. The entryway consists of a rounded entablature, pilasters and decorative trim. The doorway is further highlighted with a shaped, multiple light transom. Both sides of the entrance are flanked by rounded top, double hung windows with shutters. The windows have a two over two glazing pattern. Brick voussoirs with keystones provide additional decorative features to the windows. Beneath the windows, the brick is slightly recessed to form a rectangular design in the, brickwork.

The exterior brick on the building has been laid in a common bond. Another wall design found on the front facade, a plinth, which was created by placing courses of brick to resemble a platform. Brick quoining at the comers of the building and paired single brick chimneys on each side facades, are also characteristic of Brantford Cottages and found on this building.

Plain wooden fascia and soffits trim the low hip roof There are two dormers, one located at the rear of the building and the other located on the right side facade, also toward the rear of the building. Both gable dormers have returned eaves.

The windows on the other facades of the building are predominantly double hung units with segmental openings. These windows also have a two over two glazing pattern. Brick voussoirs without keystones trim the window openings.

Brantford Cottages were usually ovmed by skilled trades people and labourers. Some of the residents of this house included an engineer, a tinsmith, a salesman, a cooper and a barrister. Many of these people worked in nearby businesses such as Goold Bicycle, Cockshutt's, Turnbull & Cutliffe and Stillman Creamery," - info from Ontario Heritage Trust.

"Brantford (2021 population: 104,688) is a city in Ontario, Canada, founded on the Grand River in Southwestern Ontario. It is surrounded by Brant County but is politically separate with a municipal government of its own that is fully independent of the county's municipal government.

Brantford is situated on the Haldimand Tract, and is named after Joseph Brant, a Mohawk leader, soldier, farmer and slave owner. Brant was an important Loyalist leader during the American Revolutionary War and later, after the Haudenosaunee moved to the Brantford area in Upper Canada. Many of his descendants and other First Nations people live on the nearby Six Nations of the Grand River reserve south of Brantford; it is the most populous reserve in Canada.

Brantford is known as the "Telephone City" because the city's famous resident, Alexander Graham Bell, invented the first telephone at his father's homestead, Melville House, now the Bell Homestead, located in Tutela Heights south of the city. Brantford is also known as the birthplace and hometown of Wayne Gretzky and Phil Hartman." - info from Wikipedia.

Late June to early July, 2024 I did my 4th major cycling tour. I cycled from Ottawa to London, Ontario on a convoluted route that passed by Niagara Falls. During this journey I cycled 1,876.26 km and took 21,413 photos. As with my other tours a major focus was old architecture.
